Forza horizon 5 being available on a competitors platform seems quite bizarre, but if they want to reach an even larger audience this is the way to do it. But this seems like that any competition in this open world racing game segment is essentially dead and so is console exclusivity. You wouldn’t see GT7 on Xbox would you…?

I get the feeling the PS5 version may ironically end up being the definitive way to play on consoles, as Panic Button managed to tie up a few little oversights and details in their Series X/S ports of FH4 (most notably all the paddle shifters being animated instead of static) which tightened the whole thing up.

Cross progression would make me switch sides in all honesty, though that’s far too unlikely to happen.
If they restore the shift animation to the Mk4 Supra in cockpit view it'll be a day one buy for me.

God I wish I were kidding.

Wait. That was added in the Series X port of FH4? I thought for sure it was in the base game and FH5 just downgraded that detail to save on animation budget.

What I don't understand is why they never fix these little things. I mean, what about the whole all-digital always-connected thing? Games having updates, even on consoles? When before that, only PC games had 'em and they were just a few little patches?

We don't like them selling a broken game and fixing it with updates, but it's because we know they will exploit it as a loophole for more profit, not because we are completely against the idea.

Just from what I noticed, having gotten back to the franchise in 2020 with Horizon 4 after only having played the 360 games, the road that goes from the Festival site to Broadway in H4 has some (only physical) holes in winter (and recently also noticed in some other place too but don't remember where), in one of the seasons the highway in Mexico has a bit that has grass texture for some reason.

I don't think I would even notice something like the S15 Silvia wrong proportions, but I sure do see that some cars have the REARVIEW MIRROR pointing the wrong direction. Some are perfectly perpendicular to the car, pointing straight back (I think it's the Lancia Delta), at least one point to the left seat but the car is right-hand drive (Ford Escort RS Turbo, first introduced as a BARN FIND in FH4), at least one has it pointing to the right but the (Japanese) car is left-hand drive (Lancer Evo IX).. I think there is more that I don't remember now... like, WHY? Even if it's because of like, storage space on small hard drives or something, small little fixes like this wouldn't use up much space would them?

Old is old no matter if you have played it or not. I’m asking because Forza games usually get retired from the market after a few years. FH5 is reaching that point soon, unless it gets to live for longer.
FH5 turns 4 this year, which I believe is the age FH2, 3, & 4 hit when they were de-listed. It's probably safe to assume Microsoft (& Sony) have worked out something for FH5 to avoid it only being purchasable on a Playstation for less than a year.

I’m really only interested if they have Motorsport coming. But I’m glad people will be able to pick this one up if they haven’t been able to play it on PC yet.

It’s a good business move too, getting potentially hundreds of thousands of more sales out of an old game.

The only weak point of the PlayStation port though is the game runs on a live service model of course and at this point most of the events have already happened, so that’s going to be something people jumping in now will be missing out on.

This is why we have Playlist voting now, if I had to guess. It's no coincidence that they announced this port on the same exact day Midnight Muscle started and introduced that feature to the Festival Playlist. Not only are both the PS5 and Xbox versions getting one last all-new Series update in Horizon Realms that we'll be able to go through together, the PS5 community will basically get to choose their own adventure after people like me who've already done pretty much everything there is to do move on to FH6 to... basically do it all again. :P

If FH5 had stayed exclusive to Xbox and PC, PG probably would've just curated a set of Series to run on repeat and ended the live service with either Midnight Muscle or some 'Forza 20th anniversary' version of Horizon Realms, like they did with FH4. At least this way FH5 gets to live on for a new community.

Boy. In all my time gaming and being on GTP, THIS is an Article headline I would've never expected to see one bit. I assume the writing staff certainly didn't predict it either (at least not before Microsoft's interesting path to being a publisher).

Given the insane sales differences between the PS5 and the Series X, I don't think that was anywhere near as likely.

Excellent news for those that want PD to feel some heat from competition and get their act together. Looking forward to ditching GT at the first available opportunity.

It must be opposites day or something. First Triple 8 defect back to Ford and now Forza is heading to PlayStation. What crazy times we live in.

Last time I had a Xbox was about 10 years ago and their hoppers at that time had all different online classes and I was hooked on Renault Clio sport races around Road Atlanta.

Can’t say I’ll be too into anything ‘The Crew’ like but this might fun for a bit?
If you're a busy man but love collecting cars, nothing is better than FH5. No grinding at all and you can easily have a huge Ferrari and Lamborghini collection.

Not sure what point you are trying to make ..
You will never see GT7 on Xbox, not anytime soon, or within the next 20 years at least.
For those who said maybe GT7 would or could be on PC,
I am here to say: this is Not going to happen either.
If GT7 is on PC, then why would it not be on XBOX either, as the relationship And portability would be too close.

Actually if we think a bit closer:
The reason for why there was a rumor of GT going to be on PC is because someone saw Microsoft people walk to meet Sony at PD's office...
When in reality, it was for them to discuss and negotiate for the port of Forza onto the PS5....
The other way around will never happen.

WOW , is it April now???? :D I think Polyphony digital start to get fear coming

Why would PD fear anything? Fear of what ? How ?
Forza Horizon is an old game.
Forza Motorsports isn't going to prevent anyone from buying GT7, as people with a PS4 or PS5 who are interested into cars, more than likely already has purchased GT7.

Their money is only in Kaz's pocket, he didn't lose anything.

What heat ? From old Forza car games ?
See above...

I will never understand how people think a more casual game is somehow a rival or putting "Pressure" on GT. Hell, how many times have people going on about this "Competition" nonsense? As far as I can tell, the sales numbers of this series continually tell me that there is nothing for PD to worry about so how a four year old game being ported to PS5 is somehow threatening PD confounds me. Of course some of these folks also want PD to hurry up with a New GT so I frankly have no idea what they want anymore.
Nice. Also read Flight Simulator could be coming to PS5, so I hope they are working on the VR.
As someone who loves Aviation but has never the budget or the hardware (which always seems beefy) to run it, Having Flight Simulator on PS5 would be awesome.

Is forza still doing its horizon one year then motorsport the next? I’d be interested in the track racing version but open world racers I cant see I’ll be too excited for

As happy as I am for the PS5 finally getting FH5... I think it's worth mentioning that the game is still flawed and probably not the Horizon game I'd have ported over first--though obviously licensing is going to have a lot to do with that. A base game map designed first and foremost with battle royale in mind rather than being a plausible place, a soundtrack that is heavily censored and can't be modded out unless you're on PC, cliche-to-questionable writing on the Horizon Stories in general... really, the thing that's going to be pulling people back is the car list and EventLab, and that's just in the base game. Casual players will probably move over to Horizon now that Gran Turismo's basically pivoted more towards the competitive side of things like Motorsport has, but I don't think it'll destroy Gran Turismo overnight. If anything, I hope having Forza on PlayStation will encourage Yamauchi to swing back to pick up those casual fans again, though that assumes Turn 10 is able to pull its collective head out of the sand and treat Motorsport as more than just the 'hardcore' alternative to Horizon.

Sony's executives disagree with you.

I don't see it as simple as that. Up till now, Gran Turismo didn't have real competition. But who tells me that FH5 isn't just the siege ram, opening the door to the PlayStation ecosystem for future releases?

The way I see it is "Let's add something that is missing from PlayStation (ignore The Crew, I have tested it when it was on PS Plus and it was boring), get the feedback, create a fanbase, and then decide whether to drop FH6". And if FH6 is developed and comes to PlayStation as well, then PD finally has competition.

A lot more PS5 will be sold till the next generation drops in. And a lot of these customers will want a racing game. And a lot of them will be able to afford a single game. And there will be a dilemma, shall I go for GT7 or have some fun with FH5?

Competition promotes evolution and to me Forza on PlayStation is a good thing to happen. Not only that, but I will buy FH5; I was never interested in Xbox, but hell was I envy that PlayStation did not have a Forza Horizon style game (again, The Crew was BORING).

Long time expected since Microsoft’s rather strange move towards being a publisher more than a platform holder.

I used to love FH2 and FH3 so much. With FH4 the excitement got a bit down and while FH5 was initially amazing, it all became rather boring after a while, mainly because the formula has been so stagnant for many years now.

Lately I’m much more into the Crew Motorfest, I love that map a lot more than the one from FH5, especially now after the free map extension. Also car customisation is a lot better there with all the body kit and vanity options.

Anyway, back to FH5, I own this on Xbox Series X but I also have a PS5 Pro. I wonder with Phil Spencer’s repeating line of “play your favourite games anywhere” if my FH5 Xbox status will also sync over to PS5. That would be both amazing and super weird as well if the better version of FH5 will be the PS5 Pro enhanced version. 😄
