Forza Motorsport 7: Confirmed Car List

FM5 doesn't look like that on my screen.
Looks like they had their brightness or contrast way too low.

Does FM5 have HDR?
It's a screen shot from a comparison video made by MotoGames. My guess is that it's dark because the car is in the shadow of the overhead trees at that point.

Outside that location Forza 6 tracks got a BIG boost in texture detail and trees detail.

Probably because they had more experience with Xbox One (and possibly more time, although I'm not sure) to optimise it for 60 fps than with the launch game.

There's a large boost in texture in the video at Prague too. The fences in particular, were a lot more detailed in 6.
That's a very nice improvement.

Bets on this week's theme? I'm thinking it might be time for the race cars, since we're over half way through the confirmations.

Keep in mind MS has a pre-Gamescom shindig this coming Sunday too. Expect some new FM7 stuff, though I'd imagine they'll leave the official weekly reveal for Tuesday (and maintain it'll be German).

Would really enjoy some actual new cars at this point...

Bets on this week's theme? .

JDM week > American week > Euro week > German week > race cars is my guess. Europe following the other regional weeks makes continuity sense, German cars at gamescom makes sense, and holding back the race car announcement until after all the production car reveals makes sense to me.

Plenty of observers are hankering for new cars, but remember that the bulk of them in FM6 were race cars. I would expect DLC to cover the new production cars (VIP and future monthly packs).

Anything that's European and Australian (including left-over cars from other countries, even outside of Europe) are my guesses for next week, then the week after should be the competition-spec machines.

Good to see you 'round these parts, Max.

Yeah, I figure a fair amount of any new metal will come with a racing number. I really enjoyed the classic race cars that arrived with FM6, so I hope T10 has more of that sort in store. A balance with production cars would be good, though: I feel like a lot of players actually prefer those (at least, going by the FB comments section of every new DLC pack video  ).

Replaying FM5 recently, it's reminded me of a few race cars I wouldn't mind returning. According to your list the Vette C6 race car has already been spotted, which is nice. I really enjoy the Infiniti open-wheeler too; it's different from the Formula Mazda, and both are ripe for one-makes.

Yeah, it's amazing that even with 700 cars (or 750 or 800 with DLC), there can still be a reasonable scenario where people say, "But wait, what about *these* cars..." I'd love to see a renewed focus on the support series models like Mazda and USF2000. And though I think a lot of Forza veterans would prefer new tracks over new cars, there's clearly a stronger interest in car models by users, probably because that's what people are most immediately familiar with. So who could blame the developers for pursuing the less expensive assets that interest a larger number of people.

My sense is that there will be some announcement/partnership with GRC given the close relationship with Tanner Foust, yet I don't see any evidence of mixed surface courses or new dedicated environments for those cars.

Each week's news can never come soon enough.

"But wait, what about *these* cars..."
Some of that comes down to one of Dan Greenawalt's older philosophies (around the time of Forza Motorsport 4) about what cars to add.

"Every player wants to have the following:
  1. Their first ever car (either owned or what their parents owned while growing up).
  2. The car they drive now.
  3. Their dream car."

[1] explains why you often see people asking for city cars or something like the Ford Pinto.
[2] is appealing to some car owners as they can either do things that they wouldn't dare do with their real car, or try out various customisations that they might one day do "in real life".
[3] is self-explanatory.

Exactly, the amount of cars is amazing. People always say that FM4's car list was more complete, but I don't agree with that. Now we have Formula One from multiple decades, pre war GP, Can Am, Indycar, Formula E, open wheel track cars like the Caterham, Ariel Atom and KTM X-Bow.

What I would like to see is Turn10 putting a focus on completing a single racing series. Take the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship, Forza Motorsport 6 has all the tracks except for Mosport and Detroit. Add those and the remaining cars and you can integrate that series in the career and online championships.

In terms of mixed surface courses, that's my bet for an expansion. Like the NASCAR expansion a great way to implement new features and sell a lot of expansions. Luckily no more Porsche. If licensing is possible I can also see them doing a DTM expansion with all cars and one track.

I think it's not too far fetched to assume, should FM7 receives as much post-launch content as FM6 and FH3, that we could be very near the 1000 mark when FH4 ultimately comes out next year.

The city cars were great fun too, and they were a great intro to the game.

So I decided to adjust my predictions slightly. I actually made lists to go with the corresponding weeks, and realized that two race weeks is definitely a possibility. They could stretch it to five weeks by splitting euro/british + oceania but those weeks would be very thin (30-40 cars) so I think we'll still get 4 weeks in these themes. Depending on how much they bring back from 6 in terms of keeping the old NASCAR's, Indycars, V8SC's and the Lexus situation will determine how much more New To Forza + 360 Gen Content we'll get back

Next week (15th Aug) - Euro + british + oceania - Total 77 cars

Big surprises, despite there being no new-to-franchise cars (again):
  • The SUVs return. Audi Q7 V12 TDI, Volkswagen Touareg R50, Mercedes ML63 AMG...
  • Alfa Romeo Montreal! Easily one of my favourite cars in FM4, so glad it's finally back.
  • Another FH3 traffic car gets the full treatment with the C32 AMG.
  • There's now one less car that you'll see whined about in every Forza-related video: the E60 M5 is back (alongside its M6 cousin).
  • 2002 BMW Z3 M Coupe - the clownshoe! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

@JorgePinto didn't provide a source link but I found one:

It's nice that the Tamo Racemo is returning, as Tata Motors recently announced that they're putting the new brand on hold while they sort out their financial issues. It's a good little Elise-type car, should be handy in C & B-Class events.

Just noticed the silly luchador driving gear. Definitely didn't see that at E3.

(EDIT) Wait... where's TVR?

(EDIT 2) And why is Hyundai in there, minus the Genesis Coupe?

Now if we get some of the new latest S and RS cars as well, my life will be complete :D

I don't care that there aren't any new to Forza cars, they brought back many cars that I missed from FM4 while keeping the newer cars that I liked from FM6 & FH3. It's nice to see that Turn 10 managed to keep the newly added Holdens while keeping the Commodores from the previous Forza. There's plenty of Australian cars to race now; enough to make some Australia muscle themed events in FM7.

The TVR Sagaris is going nowhere: it is in the article on FM.net (but only in the complete list)

Hyundai is there for the same reason as Holden. No other week to put it in. Korea and Australia are not big enough for a dedicated reveal.
