I'd say its debatable that the lighting has improved, certainly clear midday looks better (apart from the awful bloom that they brought back after skipping 6) and wet weather, but night is very poor. Reflections are hit and miss, I think the reflection of the hotel is much better in 7 than 6, however the circuit lighting does nothing and the road shine is gone.

I think that's the main takeaway this generation - you have standard PC architecture and the devs use it almost at 100% capacity from day one, unlike last gen when there was a massive learning curve on X360 and especially on PS3, there was a massive gap between launch titles graphics and end gen games. This time around there aren't any tricks to make the hardware work more efficiently - something has to be cut for another thing to make it's way. And it's not limited to Forza, you can compare Battlefront 1 and 2, Battlefield 1 and 5, CoD BO3 and BO4, KZ Shadow Fall and Horizon ZD, Division 1 and 2, Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 5, NFS 2015 and Payback, Crew 1 and 2, AC Unity and Syndicate, etc. No sequel from a major studio this gen looked universally better than the first game on the system, even Destiny 1 and 2 or Watch Dogs 1 and 2 or Shadow of Mordor and it's sequel which were poised to have the most improvement considering the first titles were crossgen, the sequels ended up about the same or even worse looking than the first game. Dissapointing but not surprising.

One X only provides a res bump, but the assets and the lighting stay the same, the track geometry was reduced significantly, the car ingame lods went back to Forza 4 level.
Track side detail as well. However, no, the in-game car LOD didn't go back to Forza 4 level.

Which is as much as anyones been pointing out about your comparisons between the games. Especially considering what's been added on in order to have to make those minor compromises, what you seem to be ignoring when making these comparisons.

Or it might be another thing - That they're happy with the visuals of their game so they instead focus on the meat of for subsequent releases? The majority of those games don't even look bad, really, so if they can keep that same visual style while only adding more, than I'm all for it, because that's basically what every single game you put on that list did. Except for some obvious ones of course.

Destiny 2 is one I felt worked the opposite way - it looked better but didn't have as much going on for it as the first one did. Watch Dogs 2 I feel definitely looked better, but have not played it so can't comment on that.

the car ingame lods went back to Forza 4 level.

Not true. On One X the ingame car LOD is LOD0, which is externally identical to the autovista model. The only differences are that the engines aren't rendered (for obvious reasons) and that some cars have slightly different details in their grilles.

AI can't have full quality car models in photo mode? I have settings maxed out and AI cars looks ugly.

Comparison between player model and AI model in photo mode.

The LOD in photomode will also change depending on the car being focused on. Focus on the Ai car and your car will lower in quality not only in the model, but with shaders and textures as well.

For no particular reason, I decided to upgrade Hyundai Veloster to Forza Touring Car division spec and race it. It didn't quite match its competitors in terms of PI (721 against 750), but everything else - horsepower, tire width, tire compound, etc. - were within Forza Touring Car's homologation limit.

Spent yesterday upgrading and designing livery for the car, and today was its first race. Lift-off oversteer was pain in the back (quite literally), and it was too eager to spin its wheels on corner exit, but it was surprisingly competitive against Unbeatable AI.

I wonder if there are any other hatchbacks that I can turn into bootleg touring car; maybe Renault Megane or VW Scirocco?

Hi, interesting, how do you set up the race? Multi category ? (but then you would have finished first...of your category)

Thanks

I have the fanatec dialed in and really like the ffb now.
I have only been doing rivals until tonight, I started the career.

The AI are atrocious, easily the worst AI I have ever raced against.
It's bumper cars on steroids out there, I started using highly skilled have turned it down to new racer with limit aggression on.
Is there anything else I'm missing?
Shame if not because it looks awesome, and feels good now.

They’re pretty annoying but the worst bit is their speed boosts. On unbeatable around sone tracks such as Sebring they are literally uncatchable whilst on other tracks they will be multiple seconds per lap off the pace... They really need an overhaul in my opinion.

At least they don’t do what they do in FH, although more balanced (rubber banding to keep up rather than straight up disappearing with immense speed) they do like to swerve into you and divebomb even if it means missing the corner.

Hi, when the AI bumps you, make sure to check the replay. They tend to stay on their racing line and most of the bumps I recieve are due to me crossing their line.
It takes a bit of training to adapt to their racing habits...
Aggression always Off for me.

Yeah I cant wait until T10 finally fixes the AI as that is one of the things on their list to fix. The AI needs work and I'm sure they will fix all the trouble spots.

I am liking Forza more than I thought I would, coming from PC sims I didn't know what to expect.

I hear people banging on about the physics, ffb, but to me both are quite good. It is very optimized and runs smoothly on my mid range PC.

3 suggestions to Turn 10.

1) FOV adjustability, this is huge and a must have in 2019.

2) AI tweaks. They are too aggressive, corner diving and blocking. They should not be rear ending me as I slow to set up my apex.

3) Lift off over steer, over steer in general on corner entry.
I know we can tune this out to an extent, but a GT3 out of the box does not loose the rear during slow-mid speed corner entry.
The front will wash out before the rear does.

All in, it's a great game with borderline sim capabilities.

it's something that I've noticed for a many Forza's now, and something I always suggest too. More often than not it's just because you're interrupting their line causing them to react sporadically sometimes. If you give a bit more respect and awareness to their line they can race somewhat cleanly. The problem isn't that they're rammers, they just want to really stick to their line

Also, I don't know if it's a rumor or not, because I've never used anything but this difficulty setting for many games now, but apparently Unbeatable is supposed to be cleaner. I don't know how much truth there is too that though.

I fell like this is, a lot of the time, due to the LSD settings that come default on most vehicles. Simply tuning that, more often than not, helps out a good bit.

Yeah, I did the same exact thing. Same results too. I would LOVE it if they could add GT body Kit upgrade to many of the cars. For the most part, there really isn't anything that you can do to get regular cars into Forza GT or Forza Touring groups competitively.

So, I am assuming next week is a monthly update. Any hints or ideas as to what car we will be getting? Or is that all done now?

I have a (wishful thinking) theory that they may be coming out with a large "spec 2.0" type expansion to go along with the race regulations.

There isn't much, but what makes me think this is:
- The lack of any real DLC since the season pass ended outside of the 2 bonus packs and the hot wheels one. Plus no expansions at all, which isn't the norm for Forza games this generation outside of FM5.
- I doubt we'll see another full Forza title released on the One, so they need to do something to get Motorsport back on people's radar. Race regulations are great, but I don't see that alone bringing people back to the game.
- T10 said they were going to focus on FM7 for longer than they usually do before moving on, yet they haven't really released much considering how long the game has been out. This makes me think they have something big up their sleeves in order to go out with a bang before moving onto the next Xbox and FM8.
- Dan being on the stream seems to hint at something worth tuning in for.

Now, as to what I predict will be in this hypothetical but hopefully real expansion:
- 2-3 new tracks
- 15-20 new cars
- Full implementation of the experimental drag racing.
- Race Regulations
- Removal of tire barriers
- Blueprint

I think this would be a brilliant idea, especially because a feature like Race regulations needs lots of data and players to test it, find bugs etc. Considering the feature is essentially going to be a test bed for the next Forza, they need a large variety players to test the feature.

I don't think just implementing the feature alone wont be enough to attract lots of players back IMO. I think they'd need to do one of the following

  1. Basically your idea. Get people back into the game with new content, especially tracks. Expansion, free expansion, Spec 2.0 update or whatever they call it, just a substantial amount of stuff that's bigger than what we usually get which is 1-2 cars (or a 7 car pack)
  2. Put FM7 on Game Pass. I don't think it's likely due to licensing but could be an option to get people in.
  3. Release a FM7:Apex, F2P on W10 and Xbox with Multiplayer Hoppers that cross play with regular FM7 hoppers. This could work too, and you could even throw some content in there too.
Either way, I think fans of FM have been clamoring for more content, whether that's a sizeable new Feature, Tracks, Cars (New to Forza), new AI, New Single Player Events etc, and IMO just some of these would get people excited about the game again and more willing to try these Race Regulations.

Maybe Dan could be coming on to Forza Monthly to put out a content road map for FM7 too?

When Chris came out saying "we are not going off and making an FM8, we're 100% focused on FM7", this was around July last year and, considering all the rumors that the new Xbox will come out next year, I think anyone believing the console will ship with an FM8 is in for a rude awakening. 2 years for a new game is too little. FM7 itself was developed in 2-3 years and the team got burnt out due to the frequent releases as well as the need to supply Playground with cars in Forza Horizon.

The next Forza Motorsport, if there is one, will be the last, but not because the brand is dying. No one is doing sequels anymore. Assetto Corsa Competizione is here to stay, as is Gran Turismo Sport, Raceroom, possibly rFactor 2, and of course iRacing which started it all. When Assetto Corsa went from alpha to 1.0, it didn't change name, it was still Assetto Corsa, but much improved.

Does anyone seriously believe they'll ship the complete version of race regulations in April/May only for it to last until, say, August or September which is when support for the old title stops? Really? Such a game-changing feature being added now, almost one year and a half past FM7's first release, implies FM7 is here to stay.

And honestly, what would an FM8 bring to the table other than the new number to make people think it's not 7, so it's not the game plagued with the "loot crates" (a lie of course but casuals still cling onto it) nor locked cars anymore? It doesn't make much sense at all considering the negative publicity T10 attracted throughout this gen would carry over to FM8 same as the friendly fire towards Halo 5 will make people skeptical of Halo Infinite.

The later T10 pushes this game's expiration date, the less likely we are to see an FM8. And that's not particularly a bad thing if they can show they can introduce ground-breaking changes to their game without having to develop a whole new piece of software to show them off. The next console itself won't be any different from the current Xbox, it will be an incremental update rather than the rupture we used to see in older generations.

Mark my words, if Dan comes in the 8th saying FM7 will be available on Game Pass or something like that, you'd better stop thinking about an FM8 in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, I wonder if the day they picked (the 8th) isn't hinting at anything...

Yup, it was the multi-class race with 2 buckets (one for me, another for 23 other touring cars). Just turn off the "Score buckets independently" option, and you're all set!

hello, I tested this weekend to create a multiclass race with 2 buckets and scrored not independantly.
The options with the number of buckets and score independantly were locked to 2 and Yes respectively.

system: Xbox one S
track: Long beach short
cars 24
buckets: GT racing reborn; Forza GT

Why is score independantly locked?

Thanks
