I just hopped on, excited to play the MX5 Cup Class online, saw that it was Max 500, realised I needed to grind to level the car up to get the right parts, so I just shut the game off.
What parts are needed to be competitive? The MX-5 Cup has full race parts immediately at 46xPI, including suspension, anti-roll bars, tyres, gearbox, brakes and diff. Add in an engine component and light ballast, and you're already at 500PI. If you're not competitive immediately, that's down to you not tuning the car. Then, within two races, you'll be able to add the aero, wheels, ballast, etc if you really wish.

This is typical mentality of those moaning at FM'23 - I must win at all costs or it isn't fun. I've stuck around 50-60 hours in it already, and I'm still only half way through the second stage of career. Painting, racing online, tuning, building. It's all fun if you try and enjoy it, rather than focussing on the negative.

Just doing the tire widths brings it to 490-ish PI, there's really not a lot you can do to it. It's perfectly competitive stock and I've routinely outqualified and out raced players with upgraded cars, even grabbing a few podiums here and there. Having a close duel for 7th place is just as rewarding as anything with this thing.

In fact, I wish this series would stay in the rotation like the GT and Touring cars.

One thing I have noticed is that the definition of user-generated liveries seems to have improved somewhat in FM8 is comparison to FH5, at least in photo mode. The off-axis lines in the pinstripes appears to be less jagged, and the small text appears a bit more legible. I think it's probably the same resolution, but the FM8 antialiasing has improved:

In game mode, FM8 doesn't fare so well. That might be because I had to make some settings compromises to get the game to run smoothly on my 3060ti, and it isn't really running a full native 4K. Hopefully they will improve PC optimizations, and FM8 will compare better there in the fulture.

A think that i was wondering since FH5 is if the liveries are saved as a picture/template like the ones people use for iRacing/NR2003 or rFactor and them what we got is a low resolution version of that

If this is what happen, maaaaaaaaaaaaybe it could be possible to use templates and import them into the game (even if the templates would look like really weird or hard to paint vs the games that usually have like NR2003/iRacing

I go to Find Tune, found the top ones, and I couldn't apply any of them. I just saw it as another car to level up before I can keep up. I don't aim to win, I want to have fun and keep the racing close.

Painting sucks as the menus look disgusting, tuning is boring, never enjoyed that in any game, I purely want to race online.

If people are enjoying it, more power to them. "Moaners" shouldn't be blasted as being negative if they want to play the game the same way they have for the last 7 iterations.

I think it can be unfair on the genuine gamers who are unhappy, because they might complain about the game a completely reasonable number of times, and unfortunately their criticism gets lumped with the other thousands of complaints, and the happy (or at worst, content) peeps react to the overall number instead of the individual post.

Kinda sounds more like wishful thinking rather than in the know.

Personally, I'm hoping for either Bathurst or Brands Hatch, if we get those 2 and the Nordshleife in March as already detailed I'll be a happy man.

My gut however says we won't be getting either, maybe put my money on Interlagos

Nah, i think he is trying to emulate the Brazilian moviment for the Fiat Uno into make Hermanos be in Forza

I feel will be Hakone Montain or COTA
Daytona will be in Jan/Feb for 24hrs and 500
In less than 5 hours, Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico City went from 133 to 488 votes

My guess for Decembers track is either Interlagos or Daytona. Im hoping we get several return tracks in the next year or two though. Theres so many that were cut since FM1 til now both real life and fantasy tracks, great ones at that.
I also have a feeling that it may be Interlagos in December, a highly popular track that Turn10 themselves referred to. What follows, who knows (except for the Nordschleife in 'Spring').

If Turn10 would continue to release tracks around the time of popular races at these specific tracks (like Yas Marina in the month of the GP), I could see the following tracks coming:
  • January: Daytona (24 Hours)
  • February: Mount Panorama (Bathurst 12 Hour)
  • March: Sebring (12 Hours of Sebring)
  • May: Nordschleife (24 Hours of the Nürburgring)

I wouldn't mind seeing the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez though, especially in the continued absence of Monza.

Have T10 said theres going to be a track released in December?I havent seen it anywhere in their blogs or anything.
Yes, they have:

"We do have another track planned for December that we will show you soon, and as previously revealed, our most accurate Nordschleife ever will be released in Spring 2024. Every new track we add to Forza Motorsport will include fully dynamic 24-hour time-of-day with weather and track evolution."

Ok folks, I have a trick for PC folks on high refresh rate monitors. I always thought that the limiting fps to 60fps was bugged, but I think I've figured it out.

If you run a refresh rate that is not in multiples of 60hz, the game will not limit your fps. I have tried this on 165hz and 100hz, and both times my fps was unlocked, but when I ran 120hz my fps was locked to 60fps. YMMV but worth a try if you wanted some extra frames

Track variations returning would be nice too but I think they should focus more on bringing back updated return tracks from previous forzas first then fill in the holes later. Some tracks I hope for sure they bring back besides Nurburgring is;

1. Daytona speedway
2. Fujimi kaido
3. Long Beach
4. Hockenheim
5. Rally Di positano
6. Sebring
7. COTA
8. Bathurst
9. Monza
10.Rio

I run 60fps with v sync in game and goes above 60, if i turn off v sync but still targeting 60fps it locks to 60fps, but then it stutters all over the place. I'm on a 120hz screen

That doesn’t answer my point however.

Why would an official social media account of the game link to a specific suggestion when there are dozens on the site.

Normally there is a coordinated approach between global and local accounts, with all having knowledge of upcoming content releases.

It is highly unusual for something like this to occur which makes me think it’s unplanned and potentially a local admin “going rogue”.

I'm confused... On the PC version there's "unlocked with vsync" which I've been using just fine to get frame rates well above 60fps on my 165Hz screen. And I'm not getting stuttering.

Why exactly would you use the 60fps setting?

Because it stutters if I use that, with VRR i get in the 80-90fps at 4k but the stuttering is crazy, I don't get it in other games. Alex on DF said if you lock to 60fps with v sync it doesn't stutter, but my framerate won't lock in that setting so i still stutter...the game is very broken for me a lot of the time. It goes in and out of DLSS, sometimes the the game shows me FSR then it goes back to DLSS. It's just so odd

edit: i also tried leaving it unlocked in game and limiting to 60fps in RTSS and it still stutters.

The cars heading to car pass seem to be at odds with the core mechanic of the game. Namely, leveling them up seems less advantageous than say leveling up a new E/D/C/B/A class car. If this means the entire car upgrade mechanic is getting overhauled, then I'm all for it. Otherwise, the majority of these cars will just be sold as soon as they hit my garage. And yes, your mileage may vary. If these are your favorite cars, then I'm happy for you, but I think it's becoming obvious that those of us who'd rather focus on the grassroots side of racing (esp. on Xbox) are getting left behind by game manufactures.

It's been roughly two months since release (on early access) and I don't recall being this indifferent to a Forza Motorsport game. It's a serious candidate for mothballing until something changes at its core that makes it appealing to me, whether it's the solo "campaign", the leveling system, the paint booth (and paint/reflection quality) or the parts/tuning system. "Falling in love with your car" was one big, fat lie.

I believe there’s some hints in the files at either Hockenheim or Rally di Positano, based on what I’ve seen snooping around Discord/Reddit.

Could be holdover legacy code though, but we’ll find out in a few weeks.

As for content that is in the game, the Mazda MX-5 Cup is an excellent race car. The Featured Multiplayer was great fun this week.

I’ve never really been engaged with single player in Forza but it was especially bland for me this time round. After experiencing the core gameplay loop once or twice, I chose to automate the rest of career for Achievements.

Multiplayer (when it works) is the best it’s ever been, but the online/creative aspect of the game feels incomplete and suboptimal in an alarming number of ways.

The upgrade system actively discourages me from experimenting and (to quote the marketing) “falling in love with cars”. I simply find what’s meta, buy it, grind it, and keep it in my garage for when it’s needed. In previous games (including Horizon) I would happily spend an evening buying 10 cars, trying out different upgrades and comparing them in Rivals. If I want to do that in Forza Motorsport to the same level of detail it would take me 5 days.

There’s a lot of doom and gloom over on the FM.net forums, far more than I saw with Forza Motorsport 7. The Steam review scores are also worryingly low, and from past experience I know that’s an incredibly hard (but not impossible) thing to recover from. I don’t envy the position @ManteoMax and his team are in right now, hope they can turn it around.

Just for reference: Have you tried unlocked with vsync?

I play on a Gsync display so vsync is basically irrelevant, but DF suggested that the game engine stutters unless you enable vsync, so I use that setting.

But other than that, I can only feel sorry for your brokenness. I personally play without RT or DLSS because I find it has the least jaggies this way, and so far I've never once had it alter settings for me. It also always shows DLSS and never FSR when I go to the settings menu. I'm on 537.58 drivers and have the idea that newer ones have been weird.
