Friday Rockets 20:30-21:30 BST Congratulations Champion EranFinished

Round 0 Test Day - Today 1st April!!!

A lap of the Teretonga circuit, New Zealand in a Formula Ford. Note - on our custom track the pits are on the wrong side of the main straight which as @eran0004 remarked is slightly dangerous.

Friend Requests and Club Invitations

@Zolon32 and @Warbeast101 are now on my friends list, but won't be able to race and enter the club lobby (ID 1000875) until they accept the club invitation.

Sorry Harsk, I've just put my name down with Sick for Team Italy since it hadn't been taken yet. And the Rocket looks good in red. ;)

@Team_SWE_1
@tooma
Are you guys interested in this series at all? Or indeed the Cobras on Wednesdays.
All good clean racers are welcome. 👍

Much to early for @reefer :dopey:

Thanks for the invite Paul. Sounds good, and I would no doubt enjoy it, but I have two weekly race commitments already Hope it works well for you.

I run a Touring Cars Club on Thursday evenings, if anyone is interested. I open at 8.45pm with mostly 555pp/RH settings at the moment. I intend running various classes of races, so if u fancy it, stock up with lots of TCs. Only had 3 meets so far. http://toomastouringcarclub.dudaone.com/

My nice web page was made for me by my mate Joe Kerr - kudos Joe. :)

Sick
Since a few of us are holland, I looked up who was racing from Holland in the 718 and found this:

The point of this is to consider another racing gear outfit for us reserve drivers, eg white.
So using alpinestarts white outfit and beginners helmet...only white one.

sorry posted above post before ready by mistake!!:dunce:

This is the outfit:

What do you think?

No worries if you'd rather stick to the outfits you've already suggested.

Thanks

Hi Suts -lovely photos of the 718. I would like to stick with the 6 retro outfits because 5 of them feature open face style helmets. We really need PD to offer more open face styles to go with the classic cars.

Sick, I'm in a Butternut car, but I really prefer the open face look over a full face helmet. I take it that the GT Academy outfit is okay?

Cheers, Zo.

@Warbeast101 and I are not able to do the full season of Friday Rockets due to GGTC commitents.

No problem Harsk and @Warbeast101 just attend when you can.

Yes - You can wear any of the six retro outfits. The GT Academy outfit looks good with all the cars.

Important Change: Tyres now Comfort Medium
During Round 0 we did test races with both Comfort Medium and Comfort Hard. It was originally planned to use Comfort Hard, but several drivers preferred the Comfort Medium, therefore we are switching to that grade of tyre.

Tyres now Comfort Medium
I know you (and Zo) like the CH tyres but I think the change to CM will allow just a little more control without loosing the Rocket's fun factor to much. And that will hopefully allow for closer racing, which in the Rocket is great.

It also give me just a bit more grip in my switch to 0 abs. ;)

See you all on Furious Friday Fast Frantic Fun day.

 I did a little run yesterday (testerday?) and was thinking that even 170BHP can be a handful when you're using old bicycle wheels with perished tyres. I was loving it! But I love the Rocket on C/M too; just can't believe the steering feedback feel.

See you tomorrow, Zo. (one of the dogs puked today, looked just like my car by the way :))

I can race :)

That is great news! sorry to lose you from Wednesday Cobras, but great news that you can race in Friday Rockets John!

Hi Lex - Thanks for posting the video - I enjoyed that very much. I especially enjoyed seeing the Ferguson P.99 in action - although I had read about it I had never seen it racing. The three cars battling at the front of the video would be great additions to a racing game - the little mid-engined Cooper, front engine Ferrari and four wheel drive Ferguson. It was designed to compete in the 2.5 litre F1 formula, but the rules changed before it was introduced and a 1.5 litre limit was introduced. It was raced in both 1.5 (F1) and 2.5 litre (Non-championship) capacities. It won the Non-championship International Gold Cup at Oulton Park in the hands of Sir Stirling Moss in 1961.

In the cutaway drawing you can see how the driveshaft to the rear axle runs to the side of the drivers seat enabling him to sit very low in the car. It was originally thought that F1 would become a four wheel drive motorsport, but instead wings were developed which increased grip without the need for the weight and extra complexity. Eight 4WD F1 cars were built of which 6 used the Ferguson Formula. Audi and Peugeot copied the Ferguson Formula and went on to dominate rallying.

Good luck for today everyone!

Just a quick reminder that Round 1 is today from Brands Hatch GP 1980's.

Approximate Schedule (Times in BST):

20:25 Room Opens

20:35 10 Minute Qualification Race

20:50 30 Minute Feature Race

21:25 Meeting Ends

Do not worry if you miss the start of the Qualification Race - you can still be in time for the Feature Race, but will start from the back. If you arrive late please refrain from text chat - other people will be concentrating and racing for a good grid position. Note Championship points are only scored in the Feature Race.

Good luck everyone! If you haven't signed up yet - what are you waiting for !!!

Good race yesterday! My pace was coming and going, sometimes I could do several low 1:39 laps in a row, but then there were periods where I had trouble getting below 1:40 no matter how hard I tried. I didn't make any big mistakes though, which in the end was enough to finish 3rd.

The Rocket is very photogenic, I probably took about a hundred pictures of the race. Here are the 36 best:

You're not kidding you didn't make any big mistakes. How much hoping does a bloke have to do to make you slip off the track?

Well, the thing is that my wall magnets drain so much power from the battery that I usually only switch them on when I'm in the lead ;)

There were some great photos among those. I haven't taken any shots yet, but hopefully later.

A few things I noticed - the new retro helmets look very good in the photos - much more appropriate to 1960. If you are not currently using one of the six retro helmet / outfit options please change before the meeting starts - it really does help the pictures. @Harsk100 please change your helmet and also please use race number 1 - I am using the same race numbers across both the Wednesday Cobras and Friday Rockets as this is less confusing for me / easier to administer.

@IfAndOr has the wrong shade of red on his Cobra Daytona Coupe - tartan Red from the Mini Marcos creates a white stripe on the car. Please use this paint for Italy on the Cobras and Rockets.

@Pimasz (Pimiki) has the wrong base on his race number - please fit Type A, Font A - this photographs the best.

Any Reserve Drivers please use orange to represent Holland - please repaint your car in time for Round 2 in Hugger Orange from the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

All Drivers - the driving line is available so if you feel more comfortable using it, especially on custom tracks, please do so.

Great race - very intense, but I must practise beforehand. I was happy not to make any major mistakes and enjoyed my race, but was amazed by the speed of the other drivers.

Race report, pictures and championship points to follow.

I understand. I'm sorry!

But I actually like to use my current helmet. 👍

I will fix this problem for next week.

I got msg from Sick just minutes before start and joined unprepared. I did have a car ready from past events. That car is always a blast.

Especially enjoyed sparring with Sick in main event. I needed that after the abcence from GT 👍

I'm really pleased you were able to join us Bergele (Cu3e) and hope you can join us for Wednesday Cobras. Near the end of the race you slowed down and pulled over to the right near the pits which enabled me to catch up and pass - that was very sporting of you, but soon with just a couple of laps to go you slipped past and I lost the place.

@LexLathor was well ahead of me, but near the end of the race I passed him as he was travelling very slowly - does anyone know what happened to Lex?

Overall a really good meeting with no disconnections - we just need a few more drivers for the Friday Rockets and Wednesday Cobras - Tell your friends that we have spaces !!!

He was about two seconds ahead of me, but when only a couple of minutes remained of the race he went wide in the first corner and spun around in the sand. Not a fun way to end a 30 minute race, so maybe he was disappointed about that?
