So after a lot of thinking for past few weeks, I have taken a very hard decision and decided to discontinue ToCA on GTPlanet with immediate effect and retire the championship. As a result ToCA13 will remain the last season of ToCA on Gran Turismo 6. It's a hard decision.
You can blame PS2 classic ToCA2 for the whole touring car approach I took on GTPlanet. ToCA originally started as something called ITCC, but got changed when I thought a more recognisable name would garner more interest, this was after it initially being a BMW 320i spec series. ITCC would become something else, but that's another story... 6-9 entries in Season 1. Wasn't a bad show, and set precedents for future seasons. OP car which was never supposed to be? Check. Some debatable driving? Check. People turning up the next week and giving it some more? Check. Season 2 followed and was in all honesty my first serious attempt, and a grid of 14 at the Nordschleife convinced me it could work. We don't talk about Madrid though, and another tradition with the Nurb GP/D battleground was established
Season 3 saw the move to road cars that would set precedent for the entire series to come. But things grew at a rate I never expected. There was horror shows, ToCA 4.1 would have been amazing but PD logic killed it before it started, and 4.2 had great ideas (No ABS) but executed badly and coupled with a slightly naïve me (Scirocco..), some horrifically bad conduct on and off track, almost killed me doing anything on GTP. Season 5 was back to basics and worked, and when interest was growing to 32 drivers in ToCA7, qualifying systems came in and filtered the field. It's unbelievable how much it grew, and I cannot thank you guys enough for it for your support. That's what kept ToCA going, despite the sometimes questionable moves, odd / poor car choices (Mini Countryman
@chrisjohnson93 ? Suzuki Swift
@Downhill Dino ? Range Rover Evoque
@raceorama123432 ?) it somehow just kept on going and going and going.
I continued loving it on GT6 and felt despite everything my best drives were on there, yet to me... it feels right to stop. We could race next weekend, reasonable field, but I think, how many would stay? When ToCA9 and GT5 was wrapping up, only around 6/7 people did all weeks. Interest was dying, and I feel GT6 is slipping away already. From an organisational view, I would rather it end on a high, that invest time and effort every week and beforehand doing tables, formulas, implementing stewarding, checking replays, creating OP graphics, ratifying specs and communicating with testers and stewards... and for 5-6 weeks in a few to turn up an barely have anyone in. For you guys it's alright. You turn up, you qualify, race and go. For me it is totally different and I also do not have as much time on my hands as I did before. I have been on this site hosting for over 4 years, and seen many come and go. There comes a time when you just think "right, that's it". Don't stretch it too far and end on a high. Now is the right time I feel.
Some of you
@Luke @DK @Roflwaffle are somehow still here, and I appreciate your support over the whole time, as well as many who have made massive contributions: Stewards and testers alike
@paulmac2k9 @Panoz @snowgt @Yeratel84 (especially with his sunday morning complaints PM, was highlight of my weekend
)
@LancerEvo7 , many thanks for your help and it wouldn't have been as smooth without your help. To the champions, Drivers & Independents alike, congratulations...

@DK two titles in the wild old days of 2011-2012, and others who have be such strong competition throughout... off top of my head
@cnd01 @raceorama123432 @Carbonox @hsv (latter two were to be my team mates bearing #56 and #55 in T14) ,
@Andil @snowgt for having worse schedules ever that always denied them a title
@neljack for just being... himself...
@Scaniabebe for bringing Super Touring driving standards to Saturday night online racing
,
@CAMikaze and
@ranhammerR34 for bringing some cheer to the lobby every time they entered
, and also to my team mates who have often suffered having to put with me... Lancer, Carbonox,
@AudiMan2011 ,
@FlyingFox ,
@smuffyatfcp , Spurgy,
@Tom and many more one offs and part timers...
What of the future? PCARS looks appetising and BTCC tracks and cars as DLC later onwards. If things work out,
maybe on PS4 something could happen, but it is a big IF and some way off in any eventuality.
The FRL continues with WSC X, which may have spots during the season, and do take a look every so often is worth a shot and also the last FRL championship running. Whilst classics, oval racing, stock cars, open wheelers, GT, are all things we have done over the last few years, I am still very much a touring car man at heart, and this is what got me started on GTP. Don't believe me? Just ask Paul or
@MatskiMonk about them trying to keep track of me at Oulton Park 2 weeks back
👍
Those bumpers are safe now, polish them up and leave them on, it's been a blast.
RIP ToCA 2011-2015, and thank you for the memories, everyone.
