I am hardly Alien material anymore, quite average now to be honest. I just get lucky every once in a while. I hardly ever win races in my personally run series (only 1 win in my Subaru series out of 8 races with only 6-8 cars on track each week) and with Mole around.....chances are pretty slim. :P

I can go with the slowest car, make it a challenge.

Seems being fast automatically makes you an alien now. Spurgy is one (2x fastest in UK in GTA) but I don't think me and mole are... If we were aliens we would be near the top of every TT or GT Academy and more people would probably know us around these forums, but we aren't.

Very odd how the "alien" issue has only been raised up now when me and mole have been racing in FRL series for around a year now, but only when one more competitive person joins ToCA is labelled an alien only series. Spurgy returned and that was fine, but then lloydz joined and now ToCA is obviously an alien only series... Lloydz left but now R1600 joins and he's apparently an alien too before he's even taken to the track... We all knew Lloydz was quick and should be in any car but will the same apply with R1600? He was quick in V8s but was that a fluke or not? Is he actually an "alien" or is he just quick? We don't know.

What about hsv? He's quick and nothing has been said about him?

It is pretty disappointing to hear the whining again tbh..

R1600 is quick, but equally in V8s he won races on strategy often rather than necessarily being the quickest over a single lap. People are going to get put off entering the series if there's moaning about every single entrant.

Lloydz is a good example about how it doesn't matter anyway. He's blindingly quick that's for sure. But the series is also about dealing with traffic in the reverse grid races - and his reverse grid races were not so great - it shows that your 1 lap pace really doesn't matter all that much in this championship, more about how effectively you deal with the situations you're forced into.

Edit: And like Nin says, we're not that quick. I've never been able to qualify for GTA. That says a lot on its own surely? Ive also raced in series where I was a second off of Pole - people like Immortal, Tony (from GT5) etc - these are aliens, not sure you've witnessed actual alien pace yet!

You and Mole count as aliens in this series because you're really good in these cars.

Also Lloyd is perfectly capable at dealing with traffic, it doesn't help that he was lag wrecked in R2 and hit off at T1 L1 in R3.

Set up and practice. These are what I think to be the two most important things to have so that you can be quick. In ToCA 10 I didn't practice at all and the set up was just something I'd found in the tuning forums and I was way off the pace. In ToCA 12 I practiced at least an hour a week and really looked into developing a set up. I had consistent top 5's that season and finished 6th overall despite missing two rounds. I'm not an alien but did a 46.5 last night and was consistently in the 46.7's.

Personally I would say that Spurgy, Ninners, Mole, R1600 and HSV are classed as "Aliens".
All are extremely fast and can easily win races from the back of the grid. And yes...YOU CAN!

Let me say that this is not a personal attack on anyone calling them an Alien it’s just a fact of their amazing speed, and for whatever reason this season of ToCA seems to have attracted more than its fair share, and with the rest of the current driver line up being really quick, it’s going to be difficult to break into the series.

BTW - No one mentioned the success ballast from last night. How did that go?

Well, it went well for those who weren't as slow as me.

I maintain ToCA is the only place here I can't show my true pace, whether it be due to a car which is weak in races, or because I just get taken out or involved in bad situations. Yesterday I could barely break the top 10 in Q, was on for 3 6th place finishes, which kind of defeats the "I'm only a qualifier" argument. Brands was a dire track for the Honda.

I had a race with @LancerEvo7, @raceorama123432 and @gokartman78 about 3 hours before ToCA yesterday, and had a great little battle all race (even though the specs were a bit off and orama was being a coward noob with a CVT), we were all on par with each other, and I ended up winning by a hair.

ToCA, after one weekend with a particularly dominant car showing through, is a poor way to judge who is naturally quick. This goes for anyone.

@The Stig Farmer, @sparkytooth and @GranTurismo916 refuse to believe I am not an alien. This is because all they've seen from me in terms of racing is one-makes (sparky was horrified at me pulling 5/6 seconds a lap on him at Ascari), Fun Run series, GPL (almost clinching the championship after a DNF and DNS) and GRC (unbeaten in S1600 and Group B, I think the largest ever (?) win gap for an 8 lap heat at almost 2 minutes), and TT results. I do not think I am a ToCA alien. I may have shocked people in other categories, but going off my ToCA history, no, I am not a ToCA alien.

One lap pace shouldn't make a whole bunch of people aliens. Stick people like hsv in traffic in a busy race track in a no-holds-barred situation where they are forced to fight, and they're alien-ness becomes negated. Nin, Mole and Spurgy are probably exceptions as they're just mega quick right off the bat whether they're at the front or the back, coupled to them being in an AWD, hence why I panicked at the start of R3 when the Audis romped past.

I may not be alien fast, but I will fight my damned hardest with fast guys, which was shown when I was able to hold back guys like Yera, hsv and cnd for several laps.

Nice runs last night team mate, kept a cool head and got some very good points ;)

To me, it's a fuss about nothing. I would rather have aliens than INOOBS who cannot race for 🤬 coming in and actually have a competition.

I question peoples thinking when they say it is aliens only when only aliens are @Spurgy 777 , @gokartman78 , @Andil last night. I fail to come anywhere near to comprehending the "aliens only" argument when you take into account the caliber of drivers we have had in the past without complaints, because last time I checked we used to have Joe a lot (alien), Skeng with the right set up is mighty quick, @Yeratel84 , Snow when he was racing was (no offense Yera) the faster part of SYM usually and able to take it to the top guys, but Yera was more consistent and that paid off. Oh and what about Smuffy? Or @LancerEvo7 as well? Or Dax when he wasn't complaining, you know he was legit fast. Appears now being fast is not allowed and makes you an alien.

Oh yeah, set up. Big part. Fox will remember when start of testing we could only get 47.8 out the Citroen. Now I can do 46.9 with 47.4 on 24 lap old tyres. Guys like @DK with a better set up would be further up as well. As far as i'm concerned, driver line-up wise, I am happy. Ballast @FlyingFox asked about... worked. The fastest guys still got away, but progress was much slower for them. Now next week we get to see how some drivers do with 75kg of ballast, and for Race #1 providing he qualifies @Ninners will be without weight as well.

Cars look good. Yes, Audis swept the board. Audis have best drivers in championship in. Lloyd showed the Citroen pace as well though, Audi isn't OP, but has best drivers in the championship pretty much. But (especially with weight) they have worse top speed. Some events like Silverstone National and RBR Short will be tough for them.

The aliens thing is a non issue being made out to be something big. I'll sit back and take notice when majority of the ToCA roster stick there hands up complaining. Oh and I've already done points tables, just need someone to give me the bonuses and they can be posted up.

Raw speed is good when you're trash talking during the week, but it's meaningless on race day. Look at race 2. I got to the lead early and started gapping while Nin, Mole, Spurgy, and Lloyd were stuck in traffic. Even though I wasn't running anywhere near what they (or even what I) can do (about 47.0 give or take a tenth or two), I still built a lead they couldn't catch because they had to deal with other cars.

I'm offended... :grumpy: Expect being pushed off-track later tonight in IROC...

I actually could've sworn you were there.

The druids divebomb was unintentional btw, I misjudged the braking on slightly worn tyres. Pulled off on the exit though to let you through.

We're not racing probably :P - but in all seriousness, it was true. Snow had more raw pace than you but you had the consistency to always grind out the top 5's and podiums.

Furi and Spurgy can vouch for this, I was on a Skype call with them at the time. My reaction to that was:

"**** OFF HSV... oh wait he's giving it back, honest mistake."

You're good. 👍

That and the TOCA race were the first time since about toca 10 I've raced you closely, and I have to say you've made a massive improvement! Much cleaner, so much faster and you've changed into a different class of driver! Massive difference, and I think it's showing in your ability to drag results out of a car at its worst track 👍

Fun fact; my fastest time in practice, Q and R3 was a 47.056.

I can't handle such praise. :embarrassed:
