Actually, that was the easy way to do it. The basis for this chart is just the gap to the leader. Lead changes, crashes and pitstops confuse the chart somewhat, especially where it concerns the leading car.

The better way would be to use the exact lap times in relation to an overall average lap time. I might try that, but it's even more work...

Really. I remember nearly getting times like that recently while trying to learn to control the Jag better. I have since learned to control the Jag much better, though the inability of doing a Nurb lap without crashing combined with the knowledge that the regular edition is better made me finally sell that thing for 6 mil. I'm now at 15 mil, and am now debating with myself to just use a cheaper GT and buy the Mark IV of Ferrari for future use, or to just go with the 250 GTO. Either way, next season will be better for me.

I did a 2:20 on my first lap, so probably a few seconds under that.

Hmm. I did a 2:17.4 after half an hour of practice and am sure I could lower that to a 2:16 or so but I'm still getting used to the car on SS tires. Feels really nerfed. (as expected) My expectations for the race say a podium or better!
