Will be an interesting race today. The Alpines should be dominating on paper as they are definitely the fastest cars on this track, and good on fuel & tyres, too. Could also be that a 2-stopper is the faster strategy today. Not sure and can't be bothered to test a 1-hour stint.

I should be at least 90% now. Haven't tested so I won't be fastest! Might have done a lap or 2 but my time has been taken up organising a series and checking all the regs are right. And inventing silly end of season awards :)

It's a good track for the Jag, you'll be up there fighting I bet.

It's because of the track that I'm making an effort... just powered my PS3 for the first time since last day of GT Academy (and only did so back then to try out the GT-R LM, which was dreadful)

EDIT: Opening a lobby to run a few laps to reacquaint myself with the car/game...

I'm setting up PS3 myself soon.

Everyone needs to be careful at the start and the first few corners as its very tight and taking damage will instantly ruin peoples races

Cold tyres will catch some people out. Also bunching at start.

Once again you're forgetting the #51 YARIS @Luke.

And you just said Mikey's banned yet he's still on the list...

I hurt my wrist last night. I'm just going to do a few laps now to see if I can drive.

Well, that went a lot better than I feared. I only got damage once, and all it did was make me something like 1.5s/lap slower.

Not a bad race for me for most part, disappointed @Furinkazen finished ahead for me.

But the one thing that did happen was @Carbonox didn't DC'ed out the race today.

Had no answer to the cobras today, just ran my own race. Mistakes cost me about 40 seconds, which would of put me right on the back of carbonox but I don't think even without the mistakes I would have finished ahead.

So, with two unscheduled visits to the pits (sadly not only victim of 1  ) , excellent confidence booster on long stints. P3 I will take, bring on Daytona and the 80 lapper.

GT-O guys - Daytona is best track for comparisons, it has bit of everything.

Had a decent run for the first 30 minutes or so then got damage after going wide and a little bit of a spin into the barriers. Then that meant that I had to 2 45 minute stints to make it to the end. At this point in the race I was catching @LancerEvo7 and had @Panoz and @Yeratel84 behind for the majority of the stint before Yera got past after Panoz's accident.

Then after my second stop with 45 minutes to go about 2 seconds after regaining control of my car @snowgt just about makes contact with my car and the game gives me damage. Then pit at the end of the lap, nothing much happened for the rest of the race when I had to make a splash and dash stop as I was running out of fuel.

Firstly I'd like to apologise to @snowgt for spinning him in turn 1. I tried to get on the inside and ran out of talent.

Having said that he managed to come second from the back of the field, further enforcing the Cobra's dominance.

Even after @Furinkazen saying that this was a Cobra circuit their runaway success is getting bloody stupid now.

If Furi has neither the courage nor conviction to sort what can only be described as a joke, then I see little point in continuing this series.

I can understand that this is what it looks like to you, but you omit a number of facts in your rant(s).

- Yes, I did manage to get up through the field to finish 2nd. But that also means I made up a lot of time on Smuffy, who was in the same car. So, it wasn't just my oh-so-overpowered car, apparently I made a bit fewer mistakes than, probably, most other people.
- The fact that "the Cobra is dominating" might have something to do with the drivers who picked the car.
- The Cobra and the Vette had identical lap times in my testing at Laguna (Laguna was one of my pre-season test tracks). The fact that 3 Cobras were on top in qualifying tends to signify that the Vette-drivers weren't able to get the most out of the car even on one lap. By the way, the Alpine was at least 0.5s faster than both at Laguna.

In my opinion, the Cobra and the Vette are pretty much equal in terms of speed over one lap (on all tracks I have tested them at). From what I have seen, it is true that the Vette has more tyre wear, which comes into play especially this year because of the change to SM tyres. With the previously used SS tyres, probably most of the cars would have gone for 2-stoppers in the 2-hour races. With SM tyres it's possible for most cars to get through with 1 stop without much of drop off in lap times, which is the one point where the Vette suffers.

Now, what to do? From my point of view, it is really difficult to change this fact in the BoP. Tyre wear will always be heavier for the Vette, no matter how much weight you take out. So the Vette might still need 1 stop more. More power would also upset the great balance in top speeds (forget Le Mans No Chicane - it's very close everywhere else). So, if we have a change in the BoP, we have to be aware that the Vette will generally be faster than the Cobra until the tyres start to degrade. I can imagine removing about 5kg-10kg, if that's what is generally wanted (@Furinkazen ?), and pending testing.

The Corvette is fast all right, but only for about 30 minutes per stint, depending on track. Not good enough for a 2-hour race. Even if I took everything out of the car (which would in return use up the tires more, potentially rendering this strategy useless anyway), it's physically impossible to make up the time it takes to pit twice on the track, barring a major wreck for the Cobra guys.
