From GT5 to FM4

I used to be a diehard GT "fanboy", and thought that Forza was just "that other racing game". But then I started really looking at it, and was won on simply the car list alone. I got a cheap Xbox, and FM3:CE, and started playing. Right away I loved the event layout, the ability to buy every car from the dealership whenever I wanted, the customization, the sounds, and even the driving. Eventually I picked up an Xbox slim and FM4, and have not touched GT5 in well over a year. If GT5 had turned out a bit more like GT4, but prettier with a few more additions, then I may have been in a different boat today.

I agree with most of what you say, but I do still play GT5 along with Forza. On the basis of car selection and acquisition, Forza wins rather easily. Having to race for two hours to get a free XK13 never made sense to me. On the other hand, I really like photomode more than the Forza version. I also like being able to race "my way" in Forza, GT5 has restrictions that I do not like. The AI drivers are a lot easier to "take advantage of" in GT5 too, in Forza they drive like a bunch of butchers. But in the end, I like both games.

Well guys I decided to do it. Got a pretty good trade for my PS3 and games and such. Got the 250gb slim 360, FM4, season pass, rechargeable batteries, & 3 months gold XBL. Pretty excited, haven't felt any regret. Gotta go set everything up.. i'll put my gamertag up here once its all said and done. Thanks again.

Add me if you want Risk1600. INfact anyone else who reads this feel free to add me I need people to race against.

Sorry to rez a fairly dead thread, but I'm back to GT5. Biggest reason I moved back was the online play. The total lack of a free run/track day type mode really got to me. Free run is seriously my favorite online aspect of GT5. Just chill driving checking out cars, more sociable experience. Only really played drift lobbies in FM4 which I quite enjoyed aside from the ragers, spammers, chronic kickers, children, and constant xbl gangsta mic-warfare. Enjoyed the tuning/personalization aspects of FM4 more than racing itself at times, and I will miss some of that. All in all, it just made me realize how much I enjoy GT5 more. GT5 feels like home. Glad I experienced the other side for myself though.

If GT5 floats your boat my friend then fair play to you, forza isn't everyones cup of tea.

Sounds like quite an expensive experiment though if you've traded the 360 in for another PS3!!! Did you not consider keeping both games and consoles? I switch between the two all the time, best of both worlds!!

Still have my 360 and FM4. Just havnt touched either in monthes.

I totally understand what you mean by feeling like home. I believe its natural for us who played it all our lives (im addicted to it since the very first one).

Hell i still play GT4, and i actually bought a GT2 original, mint condition game (it runs on the PS3) for the ultimate nostalgic driving feel.

Wanna know when it REALLY feels like home to me? German touring cars at the 'ring and GT500 cars at Suzuka dude... No matter how many setups i tried, or bought, they never feel as tight, accurate and smooth as GT.

Ill never be able to pick one. Having both really is the best of both worlds.

I own both systems and I feel pretty much the same as you with regards to GT5 pretty much abandoning it's players. I now play GT5 less than 5% of the time. I don't like standard cars as I really like using photomode, GT5 in my opinion is superior in this aspect. A thousand cars is okay with me if they are all detailed correctly, but they are not in GT5. I was super impressed with the detail I saw in the cars in Forza4 before I bought it. I still like GT5, just not enough to play it very much, change is needed over there.

Just do it! Mister Nike would say. Since i bought a xbox and Forza 4 about two months ago, i haven't played one minute with GT5 anymore. You will realize what a lame job polyphony actually did with GT5, as they spend years tweaking the physics model and neglected making a exciting and innovative racing game..

They basicly just copied their last gen version from PS2 with the updated physics model and better graphics. Apart from that there is nothing next gen about it... the game really isn't tought through and turns into a terrible bore after a while if you don't have only "hotlapping" on your menu.

Forza on the other hand, is a well tought through racing game, with countless things to do, a better car lineup and closer racing as the AI is faster and more agressive. And the cars do not sound like vacuum cleaners. Everything i wanted from GT5 actually which polyphony didn't bother to deliver.

T10 also has better communication with their fanbase, and regularly gives them what they ask for, steady stream of DLC included, whereas kaz and his crew have the communication skills of a fish and seem to be so grasped with their GT academy, that they forget their fanbase altogether...

Just make the switch, you will not regret it i garantee.

I decided to get a 360 for FM4 and I want to be able to play my old PGR4 game too.

I didn't like the fact that GT5 just lacks the level of customization that FM has. I didn't like that the car sounds weren't as good, and I thought FM2 was a decent game and missed it.

Plus I hate the fact that whenever Polyphony Digital releases a DLC, it's like 2 Skylines and a bunch of crummy cars that aren't even worth getting.
