Fuel for the fire

Bashing Christianity is a little different than racism.

You are born a certain color, and perhaps with a sexual orientation. You are not born Christian, it is your choice.

I think perhaps if this many people posted against people who really liked rock music, nobody would jump on them. It's a personal preference and a choice.

Now we could bash Muslims if we wanted, but that wouldn't be as much fun because there aren't as many of them here (and in my experience, they're not as evangelical).

Actually...ya know what? It doesn't matter. This whole thing about Christian bashing or whatever you may want to call it is ridiculas and getting really , really tireing. I can't think of any other group of people this would be allowed to happen to on this forum. If this many threads were started bashing gays, muslims, African Americans, they would immediatly be jumped on
by the moderators as well as the people of the forum. Look back at the threads and you will see it's true.
You may call it whatever you like but it is obviously bigotry to single out a group of people and no matter who they are and begin name calling and putting up negative comments and dirogotory remarks.
Especially comming from a moderator is totally unaccaptable.
I would like to thank Pako for at least being honest when he was seen by the whole as being wrong. He stood by his commitments and his beliefs but he did appoligize. He is a much bigger man that other moderators on here.

I will be requesting that Jordan remove me from this forum as soon as he can.

I have enjoyed most of it and enjoyed getting to know most of the people I come to know.

Have a good life.

I hate to reiderate,.. but this IS the 'opinions' forum,... meaning your gonna hear a lot of loose talk....

Personally, I dont have any problems discussing any topics anyone could ever imagine,... even if it was about how much I sucked, and people were calling me names.

As an internet forum,... this 'opinions' forum ofers all of us the opportunity to open our minds to discussions and idea's that we could never converse over openly in the R/L in mass #'s like this (sorry, run-on). It's extremely neccessary IMO and virually bigotry free.

Your beaf reminds me of people who complain about Howard Stern being on the air cause he offends them,,... "hey, you dont have to listen,.. it's a free planet. Live life at your own discression cause not everyone will tend to your needs when you leave the jesus bubble."

No offence inteneded,. it's JMO.

If you are looking for reasons to excuse things you might be approaching things from a perspective that is too limited. Opininions are like cockroaches: if you hear it once you can be sure there are countless others that are pretty much the same.

Going by your comments, though, I'd think you'd want to differentiate yourself from some of the people you are associated with, namely those pinch-faced church-goers. Just because you aren't one doesn't mean they don't exist, and just because you call yourself Christian doesn't mean I'm talking about you.

... Altough, I would have to say I agree with DGB454 when he says this has been going on for a long time now... Basically you're rehashing what you've already said. I have no problem, as long as you find some new material, but when you use the same arguments over and over and over and over and over again, it gets old, and frankly, very annoying....

Kind of like me.....

What can I say? this dude should relise that America is one of the most multicultural countries in the world. People from everywere come to America for a better life and if they chose to speak their own language outside their house it shouldnt be anyone's business to go and tell them to speak english. Anyway about the woman who chose to cover up her face on her driving licence due to her religion IMO she shouldn't have got the licence cause she is breaking the law.

I don't have a problem with people speaking their native tongue in public. But they should at least be able to get by on English when it's necessary. I do believe that English is and should remain the language of the land. What we risk by changing that to suit various ethnic groups is a country where these groups can't communicate with eachother.

Yeah. Don't expect everybody to agree with you. And expect a disagreement from milefile, it's common. Expect Duke to disagree, but logically. And expect Talentless to try to push a pro-gun stance no matter what the issue.

Its just this thing that people do (this happens anywhere in the world) where they force people to change everything about them just because they live in their country. I hate those people

(in particular.... no fair saying "everyone here")

Well, all the Athiests here use the same arguments, and all of the Christians use the same arguments, so it's kind of mute.... But nonetheless, it gets annoying...

So if I say something like ; , this is all typical flag-waving white gay male rhetorical bull then that's ok? (By the way I would never say that)

Just trying to understand how I can bash and get away with it on this forum.
If what they were saying was gay rhetoric bull, then you'd be perfectly justified in saying that and I'd support you. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but if you can, throw it out there and I'll bash it for you.

Rhetorical bullcrap and bad logic are bashable offenses no matter who utters them, no matter what side of an argument they "support".

In and of itself, rhetorical bull is not the exclusive property of white male Christian conservatives - just that particular piece of it is.

I'm not saying "Shut up because you offend me", but merely "Shut up because you sound like the local news. All of the channels repeat the same stories exactly the same"

As I understand it, she argued for the veil in her driver's license ID because her religion requires that she wear the veil in public.

I didn't think Fundamentalist Muslims allowed women to drive.

...making it very important for us to listen to each other and try to make our own arguments clear.

I do think you guys have built an excellent foundation of basic morals to work from (golden rule) 👍,... but do you think that statements like the e-mail we're talking about have a positive or negative long-term effect? Are radicals like him and Falwell actually helping in your opinions?

Actually, I believe that idiots like Jerry Falwell should be banished to France.
What Jerry Falwell is doing in his "ministry" is trying to gain "power" and influence for his view of Christianity. Now James Dobson, on the other hand, seems to remember the one thing that Falwell seems to have forgotten.
We need God. Not the other way 'round. God wants us to live our faith, and be an example. He doesn't want us to shout about how fabulous Christianity is. Forcing the Bible down anyone's throat is wrong. God is perfectly capable of handling his own "battles". If we live a life that is the Example of Christ, Forcing the Bible won't be necessary.

I am lutheran(protestant kinda)and I do believe in the trinity(God Jesus and The Holy Spirit), but I think forcing religion is wrong. This is land of freedom isnt it? Some of the things in that article are nazi like. Such as the languages. I believe America has one true identity, but it is a mixing pot, mixed with identitys.

Gil, my friend, I'd like to recommend a book to you, since I know you're a voracious reader. Look into American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. It's a novel, but it's got quite a thought-provoking premise, and a number of plot twists to keep it interesting. A few "adult" bits, but nothing too shocking in that regard.

See if you can dig up a copy, and let me know what you think.

Book titles are underlined. You clearly know nothing, as is evident in all your poorly-written posts.

When you write or type on a typewriter, you underline... when you type on a computer and use a font that has a built-in italicized set, you italicize.

Can't fool me, 'Muro. And you know that I'm right about the "tree avatar"!

Seriously? Geeze, I'm behind and I'm only 26. And neon_duke, the board's surrogate father, is technologically advanced beyond belief. Eek!

My English teachers have been telling us that for typing things on computers, both methods are acceptable.

So then drop the gay marriage ban.

It's really simple. Just write to your senator or congressperson.
