Fuji, one of the world's worst "premier" tracks?

The line at the end of the track is actually pretty avant-garde in terms of racing circuit design. Despite that, I have a love-hate relationship with the end of track. I appreciate how complex it is yet I remain uneasy in the fact that there essentially isn't a line to run through it correctly.

I feel that in real car, where one's vision is wider the cornering would feel more natural through this complex. In GT4 when I play I am looking at the edge of the screen to aim for the apex. But since the screen isn't wide enough I can't see the apex is and I always botch the corner.

In regards to the new Fuji is as a whole track; it is very sanitized and looks like a parking lot track because of the amount of tarmac runoff.

You might be right with your conclusion most of the time, but the fact is, you (as well as others) cannot make that blanket statement that you will like the track only if you are good.

You're only assuming. I, amongst others, are actually good at this track, we win, but we don't particularly like it.

There's something called preference.

I love technical tracks. Nurburgring, Monaco, Infineon, Suzuka, etc. Those tracks have character that I like. Fuji 2005, IMO does not. This is my opinion.

I still don't think you can jump into any conclusion just by that statement alone.

My statement alone is a pretty good explanation why the guy who created this thread did so. Yet again u r stating u r good at fuji BUT u prefer something else over fuji BUT u r not stating that u hate FUJI. Ofcourse you may have preference among tracks u good at, and this alone doesnt disprove what i stated its just another level of factors that induce you towards other tracks that u r good at, BUT u being good at fuji doesnt make you hate the track! Right? So when u r good at several tracks, you like them all, at least not hate, and in this case few different things come into play which define your chose - layout, leangth, width, visuals etc etc etc. BUT still your favorite track GONNA be the one you mastered the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, can you use proper spelling and grammar? Your posts are really hard to read with all the text style writing.

Secondly, I have an issue with your statement "If you know how the proper lines on the track, you will like it."

If you know the proper lines on the track, you will be good at it. That's the only reasonable assumption you can make from someone knowing the proper lines. It that does not automatically mean you will like it or hate if you don't.

You're also assuming that the guy who started this thread sucks at Fuji. You have no evidence in which to base that claim. That's your assumption. He said that the track was awkward and that was part of the reason he said he hated the track. And you know what, I can see why he'd say that.

He also said that it's "utterly bland." Again, that's opinion.

And for the record, I like the old Fujis, but I hate the new one. And having said that, are going to assume that my driving is inferior at the 2005 course also?

Heck, even Jordan said that he found Fuji "awkward & un-fun to drive." Can you make the assumption that he doesn't know the proper lines?

1. Proper line?

You're also assuming that the guy who started this thread sucks at Fuji. [/QUOTE]

2. Ask him, will you? I guess its clear :) But for some dudes i guess it is not:))

Fuji is a great track, thats why F1 was there. It has everything! maybe like spawn says a chicane on main straight would be welcome.

BUT still your favorite track GONNA be the one you mastered the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite track from GT4 was the Nurburgring, which is a lot like quantum physics. If you think you've mastered it, you in fact know nothing about it. There are plenty of tracks that I had a much more comprehensive technical mastery of, but none that I liked more.

Once again, we've reduced track taste to a matter of opinion, not a commentary on driving skill.

I dunno, it's hard to say. Fuji and Suzuka are the only two real tracks in GT5P that are worth mentioning (IMO, the discussion on that is for another thread).

In the beginning I was a bit thrown off by Fuji. It is a track with a non-linear learning curve. At first you get better, bit by bit. Then all of a sudden, you completely change your line, and you get really fast on it.

I'm no different from many people in that I dislike a track where I can't be consistently fast, so in the beginning I didn't really like Fuji. After a while though, speed kicked in, my lines changed, my whole impression of the track quite literally eroded, and suddenly, taking the path of the least resistance, I liked the track.

I always knew a race on Fuji would be easier for me to get gold on. Suzuka, or at least, the S10 and S7 (or whichever is the F-40 one), are much harder. Suzuka is much more technical from my point of view, and is a lot more trickier. Suzuka has many spots where there is a very very very fine line between taking it right, and going into the barriers. In Fuji, when things you wrong, you just take a corner slower than it should be taken.

Then again, that's pretty much the distinction between full control of a track and still being in the learning phase. Though by now I've managed Suzuka too.

In any case, long discours, point is, I like Fuji. It has this great balance of long sweeping fast elements, and then quick corners to slow you down for a short second, right before allowing you to go to full throttle again.

Why is it assumed that we (the ones who don't like the track) don't know the proper lines through Fuji 2005?

I don't know if you guys are implying that, but keep in mind, it is possible to be good at this track & not like it.

I saw I was quoted in this post, sorry to answer so late but I didnt visit this thread anymore... The statement I made was not meant to be a blanket statement. I was refering to my own experience and failed to make that clear in my post. I also hated Fuji when I first started racing on it, I was all over the place and didnt understand the corners very well. Once I figured out how to take these corners and what lines provide the fastest way around the course (Which can be different since there are many lines to take the corners here), I felt very satisfied racing there and started to enjoy it immensely... The moment I started racing on-line there which I have done many-o-times in FWD, AWD, RWD, 800PP, Ferrari only event or others, I realised just how good the track is. As I stated in my previous post, for side-by-side racing Fuji is one of the best places to be IMO. So hopefully that clears things up a bit for you. It was never my intention to make a blanket statement, I was just speaking in general terms based on my own experience.

Annoyingly difficult corners are a Hermann Tilke trademark, I personally don't like his tracks much, they are difficult for the sake of being difficult, not enjoyable.

I am a bit late on this but....WHAAAA?!?!

Have you ever seen a race on the Valencia Street Circuit? She is probably one of my top 5 favorite tracks of all time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valencia_Street_Circuit

..and the new Korean International he is building looks like it would be fun as all hell to play/race/watch. I would agree that I liked the Fuji Ring before Tilke touched it but it is still a great Sim racing track in my eyes.

I love Fuji since GT5p came out. Online racing there put's pressure on everyone, but then it's also a punters paradise. Anyone wanna held a stock racing event? I'm tired of tuning crap out and race the punters and blockers, that's why i stopped playing GT5p for a while.

I rather like Fuji in GT5:P. I like it certainly better than Suzuka. Fuji is more fun imo than any track in prologue. I love how you can drift around the last 3 corners and gain time on your opponents.

Me? I love Fuji.
It was the first track I tried in GT5P that I really liked, so I raced it over and over and I did learn the lines - at least the ones that work for me. I don't find the correct line to be ambiguous at all. Maybe there is more than 1 approach that works, but surely that is a hallmark of a great track, not a poor track. Last night I turned in a 1:37.750 lap, and a good number of sub 1:40 laps, and for me that's pretty good.
I love the track - best layout in the game.
Suzuka - also a great layout - is more technical, more demanding, and much longer. Fuji you can open her up. And the last set of curves are just great.

Fuji and Suzuka are the only really good tracks from Prologue, because they demand attention and focus to get a decent lap, personally I think of Suzuka as a better track, because it divides who really is good from who is just an average driver, Fuji does the same work but it allow a more agressive attitude, and certainly it provides ground for fierce battles but it's less technical.

High Speed Ring sucks, it's easy, flat and boring, only the F1 car can make this track at least a bit interesting, London is utterly beautiful and impressive but lacks passion and speed, Eiger, well, Eiger not even resembles a track.
