Dairy refers to the product of the mammary glands of mammals such as cows, goats, sheep and others, and the products derived thereof. Eggs may be there to stay cold, but they are not dairy products.

Back in my days of working in a grocery store, yes, eggs were (and still are) part of the dairy section. Stored in the same cooler and sold alongside the milk, cheese, etc. All handled by the dairy department. We called them "Dairy Fairies".
