Further proof that we're already playing the next version of GT

A lot more people would be really seriously pissed off. If "GT4 For The PS3" happens, it will have to be a bundled freebie. Otherwise, they would create too much ill will among their customer base if they tried to get another fifty bucks from us for an opened-up version of the same game.

Like I said, they've made big bucks off GT4 already. They won't need to hit us up for it again. They would be much smarter to create great good will in anticipation of the real GT5.

Has anyone thought that the version of GT4 we have at the minute, if run on a PS3 might automatically be de-restricted?, seems fairly simple and easy to do.

No, becasue then there'd be loads of seemingly redundant files on the disk which there isn't. GT4 is GT4, theres no unrestricted version coming out.

Zardoz, I going to show you a little thing Yamauchi announced at E3 from PSM.

Vision Gran Turismo-
This looked like a very high-res version of GT4, which, when we spoke with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, we found out it pretty much was. Awesome-looking real time pit crews and bystanders had been added, however. Yamauchi wanted to make it very clear that this is a tech demo, not GT5.

From the creator himself.

I've been following this thread for the passed couple days now, and it's just beginning to piss me off, that Zardoz is still saying GT4 in it's current state, is a restricted, full version of the game, that will be released on the PS3. That will never happen, like SO many of you have said. Why in the hell would they do that? It just makes no sense what-so-ever. GT4 is GT4, it's completed, it's done, finished, the game is, as is. The next Gran Turismo will be GT5. What we've seen in the videos is like everyone else is saying, a tech demo. Demo, not a game. Two different things here. The name, "vision" is just that. A vision of things to come. They simply used a little bit of GT4, added more cars to the grid, a better pit atmosphere, to simply show you what is to come, for GT5, not a...new version of GT4. It's a "vision" of what GT5 will be like.

And how can you freaking argue with that? The CREATOR said it himself.

And like I said. Would you even think that a company as big and as well-respected as PD would do such a thing? You're making this all sound like the next GT will be a glorified GT4. How can we be already playing the next version of GT4 even if we don't race against 20-car fields? Hell, I don't care if (prototypical name) "Gran Turismo 5" feautured as many cars as in the popular GTR PC game, who are you to say that the next GT will be GT4 with better enhancements and online play? It is a tech demo, I've said it all along. Apparentely, no one seems to care. I think of Vision Gran Turismo as a concept to a future GT game. Did you think the Ford GT90 would be a production car? the Cadillac Sixteen? the 350Z Concept Car? So why think Vision Gran Turismo will be the next GT5?

I don't know if maybe you tried to word this as best as you can, or if you just wanted to say that if we're playing GT4, we're probably playing the next GT whenever it comes out. I didn't believe that GT4 was going to be a glorified GT3, so why should I believe that the next GT is going to be a glorified GT4 with some here-and-there features added? Then too, who would buy a launch title of an already-made game? You'd might as well say that the next HALO (for example) on the XBOX360 will just be HALO 2, but with some extra stuff. Who'd want to buy a launch title of an already-released, already-complete game? If you're not sure you want to release a game, then damn it, DON'T RELEASE THE GAME! Take your time, like PD did with GT4. Much like there are concept cars, think of this as a concept game to the next GT.

If you want another example of a playable or non-playable game that brought out an interesting result, if you buy "Ridge Racer Type 4," you get a bonus disk with other games, but most importantly- Ridge Racer Turbo, a playable demonstration of what to expect in a future Ridge Racer title. The game ran at 60 FPS all the way, and had to sacrifice some extra textures and features for it all to work. What would have been the end result? Ridge Racer V. So, there are concept games much like concept cars. I'm not mad, I'm just stating that it's foolish to say that we're playing the next GT, the assumption that the next GT will lack evoultion and just be boring and monotonous I won't believe that for one moment and neither would anyone else.

So we all agree, except Zardos, that GT4 is GT4 for PS2 and not an opened up game and launch title for the PS3. If Zordas by any change is right (we'll know next year when the PS3 will be launched) I'm the first one to admit me being wrong at stating that GT4 is not a launch title for the PS3 but for now, can we please stop this stupid discussion (which actually isn't a discussion) where almost everybody agrees except...... and maybe some other we haven't heard of, yet. :)

Okay, fine. Let's turn off the lights on this thread and close up. It'll be interesting to see what happens next spring.

Besides, We're having some elves over for dinner, and I have to straighten up the house.
