Game Shark Tire Wear?

In GT2, the tires are supposed to wear out quicker if they're soft..but the only place they actually do this is in the 2-player Arcade mode. Is there any way (maybe via Game Shark) to make the entire game more interesting by introducing realistic tire wear in all portions of the game?

:dunce: It tells you soft tyres wear out quicker than Hard tyres...
Buy hards and you'll be set to go without using the Gameshark codes.

The soft's wear out quicker in the endurance races and in the single races in Arcade mode if you set tyre wear on. There is no tyre wera in any races in Sim mode exept the endurance races, all the others are too short.

Actually, that's not true, the simulation endurance races don't feature variable amounts of tire wear in GT2 like they do in GT1. You can race a car with hard tires or super soft and they'll wear out at the same rate. The only difference is that soft tires have more grip and hard ones have less.

And the single-player arcade mode doesnt feature tire wear at all...instead, your car's handling gets damaged. The only place I've found realistic tire wear is in 2-player arcade mode. I'm thinking there must be a way to get it to work in other races.

I guess I'm waiting for Pupik to answer, he seems to be the expert!

You seem to not listen.

Hard tyres last longer than softs. Read it in the game, and its quite true.

I've detected (unofficially, of course) that tires do wear somewhat in Sim mode. A few cars do seem to run out of grip if you use the super-softs in the 5 lap races, but nothing quite like what you see in GT3.

There's a more detectable difference in the Endurance Races; you can actually perform about 15-20 laps on the Hard tires, and about 5-10 on the Super-Softs in the enduros.

I've completed (98.2%) five separate games of GT2; cups, licenses, enduros, rallies, and Manufacturer's Races...you name it.

My experience has been that I can go the same amount of laps in sim enduros with the same amount of tire wear. The game manual states that when we use super soft tires all durability is cast to the wind. If you race the 2 player arcade mode, this is quite true...super soft tires will only last up to 5 or 6 laps before they're turning red, hard tires will last a lot longer. In a sim enduro I can go up to 15 laps at the same track in the same car, and the tires are just turning orange.

I've never used a game shark because I consider it cheating...what I'm wondering is can it be used to simulate this extra tire wear (and actually make the game more realistic). Pupik would seem to know this he has a million game shark codes on his site, including codes that boost the number of laps in any race series.

If you go into tires when you tune your car, look under for professionals, those tires simulate realalistic tire wear...try it. 💡

Thanx Rally CAt.

I did a little experiment last nite, and drove a car in 2 player arcade mode with super-soft tires up front and hard tires in back, then I switched to hard tires front and super-softs in back. Turns out there was no difference in durability, but there was a difference in grip, so I guess I owe you all an apology! my bad.

Heh, I've never actually used the "no tire wear" code for more than a lap of an enduro. I tried it once, just to see if it worked, and shut it off right there after I saw it worked fine.

Mind you, I'm not really addicted to the enduros; I've done them all once per game, and that's it. They are rather boring at times, and I don't have the time. Heck, I've completed all the GT3 enduros once, but only few more than once. (Some of the enduros are more more fun in GT3, but since I'd won nearly everything once already, there was little reason to worry about the prize car it awarded.)

Wow you find them boring? I think they're the best part of the game! I especially like the pressure of trying to pit on the right lap, while other cars are trying to take your spot. and I like the fact that after awhile, fatigue really does become a factor.

My only criticism is that in GT2 some of them are a bit too easy because of the bogus horsepower requirements (especially the I-B ones at the Mountain and Apricot track). So whenever I race an I-B I try and enter a car with 100 less horses than the requirement to make it more of a challenge. I've only race those 2 IB enduros + the Rome enduro--the Rome race was frickin' hard, man! I only placed 3rd or 4th in a race-modded Corvette Grand Sport.
