Games you’re excited for in 2025

Are there any particular games you’re excited about this year?

For me personally there are quite a few.

First of all, a game I know of forgot about, but recently remembered is Judas. A spiritual successor to BioShock and System Shock 2 is right up my alley. I didn’t love the BioShock Infinite personally, but this sounds like a game more like the previous entries and I’m glad that it is. I’m a little worried that it’s been in development for so long and I hope it doesn’t end up like Cyberpunk, but as long as the story and core gameplay is great, I’ll be patient with the bugs and issues that the game will have. Right now it’s targeting end of March release, but since no official date has been announced I have a feeling it might get delayed towards end of summer/fall.

Another game that I’m also very excited about and also from one of my all time favorite series is Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. This kind of came out of the blue last summer because it seemed like the series was dead after the misfires with Heroes 6 and 7, but I think there is reason to be very excited about. First of all, the developers are massive fans of the series and have a lot of understanding of what made Heroes 2,3, and 5 so good, based on the interviews I’ve seen. This also was a game they proposed to Ubi and not the other way around, so it’s not going to be a game just to revive the IP but more of a passion project. The fact they are going to do a 1 year early access also means that they will have plenty of time to address fan feedback, which is actually they are already doing now even before the game comes to early access just by listening to people in discord, YouTube, reddit, etc. What they showed so far looks like a modern version of Heroes 3 with some new ideas and features taken from other games, which I feel is the right way to go. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel, Heroes 3 is still a masterpiece to this day, just need to modernize it and improve it in key areas. In theory game will enter EA by summer time, so I’m very excited to get back into my favorite turn-based series after a long break.

My final game is not going to be very original. It’s GTA 6. I’m not sure it will actually come out this year, but I’m hopeful. Should be a fun ride based on what we’ve heard so far. They’ll probably milk it for a decade, just like fifth iteration, but I just care about single player component. If it’s as good or better than 5, I’ll be pretty happy.

  • Assetto Corsa Evo obviously, hopefully it's gonna be modable like AC.
  • GTA6 but we'll see, I really like the single player mode in gta but 5 was a bit lacking imo, they could have much more mission and used the map more. The map was huge but not really used. Hopefully GTA6 will be better will an insane amount of good missions and side quest.
  • City of the Wolves got me intrigued, not excited yet but it's looking better and better and characters looks awesome.
  • Not sure if it's coming out this year but I'm looking forward for the Onimusha remake as I was a big fan of the serie same for Dino Crisis if it comes out eventually and off course any RE remake will be immediatly in my top spot for the game I'm waiting for.

  • AC Evo has my interest, especially with the open world
  • Ananta/Project Mugen looks like its going to the anime equivalent to GTA 6

There are only two games that I’m truly excited about this year; TXR and JDM.

Both of them will see a Steam release first and then a console release will be considered. I can wait for JDM but I need TXR injected directly into my veins like yesterday.

I can’t even think of anything else that even managed to pique my interest the slightest. Not even GTA6 nor AC:Evo.

Edit : My dumb*** forgot about Wreckfest 2. Hopefully it will see a 2025 release too.

- AC Evo but only interested from the sideline as i don't have a Gaming PC right now.

- Ghost of Yotei as Ghost of Tsushima is still a peak PS5 experience for me (besides Gran Turismo and Days Gone).

Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Civ VII, Light No Fire, Fable, and Mafia: The Old Country looks like it could be cool.

I know most people are going to be looking forward to GTA6, but I thought GTA5 was awful and I assume Rockstar is just going to milk money out of people in the multiplayer without giving a damn about the single player game. I'll probably pick it up in few years during a Steam sale or something.

GTA6 is the obvious one, hopefully they put enough content on the single player side of things and don't milk the online like in GTAV, time will tell.

Apart from that not much else for 2025, holding out hope Wreckfest 2 and the new Resident Evil are released, that would could make 2025 a great year gaming for me.

For me, it's just Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

If my Windows gaming laptop is good enough (highly doubt it though, as I got it around mid-2020), I might also want to take a look at Assetto Corsa EVO.

A few instanly on my mind

Pragmata, dont know really anything about it, but I simply have a feeling of enjoying this game once it is available
Gothic 1 Remake, played the original 3 and I like remakes as long as they add things.
Path of Exile 2, just a time sink
Civ 7, same as above
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, only played MGS1 on PSX and missed out on the other games, so I hope this is an opportunity to have all the games connected in historically/canon chronological order now.

That is, unfortunately, a given. A decade+ later & the game still makes insane money off Shark Cards. My concern is if they will carry over the Quality of Life updates they implemented in the last year or so, like allowing you to run your businesses in private lobbies, easy health/armor through the weapon wheel, some increase payouts/time limits for sales, placing a lot of ease of access tabs in the Interaction menu. These things will make getting started in Online for VI a lot easier than V where the constant war zone b/c you were prompted to attack others made it easy to push people to Shark Cards. Now, the pricing of everything like HSW does that job for Rockstar.

Regardless, VI, TXR, JDM & Killing Floor 3 are on my list of must-buys this year. Probably Ian Bell's new sim as well, but I don't recall if it's confirmed for a release yet.

As someone who only really plays racing games these days, there’s not much on the horizon in 2025 is there? AC Evo, but that’ll be PC only for a couple of years I’d imagine and I’m a console player. So….NASCAR 25 I think will be quite good given how it’s all new and not by MSG, but I’m really only semi into NASCAR so much as I’ll enjoy it, it’s not going to change my life. Aside from that, more incremental updates in F1’25, MotoGP’25 etc, and otherwise probably quite a quiet year unless something unexpected comes along.

At the moment, it’s the two DLC packs for EA Sports WRC that I’m most anticipating.

GTA 6 (if it's not delayed)
MGS Delta
Tokyo Extreme Racer
AC Evo

pretty simple list tbh, I don't feel like exploring new genres as much as I used to.

No point saying GTA 6 as it’s clearly going to get delayed.

Wreckfest 2 is top of my racing game list. AC Evo only if a miracle occurs and it gets a 2025 console release. I’m also interested in iRacing’s Nascar game even though I don’t usually like ovals.

I like the setting of Atomfall, not so sure of the gameplay but will likely give it a go. Other than that there’s not really much new that grabs my attention. Does the PS5 port of Indiana Jones count? I’ll likely spend the vast majority of time playing through my extensive and expensive backlog.

Mainly racing/driving stuff for me

  • AC Evo
  • Project Motor Racing
  • Wreakfest 2
  • TXR
  • WRC DLC
  • Endurance Motorsport Series (maybe - depends if Nacon mess it up)
  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Sniper Elite Resistance

In terms of driving games, these have been on my radar:
  • Assetto Corsa Evo
  • Tokyo Xtreme Racer
  • Wreckfest 2
  • Night-Runners
  • GTA VI
  • Resistor
Beyond driving games:
  • Lost Records: Bloom & Rage
  • Dispatch
  • Mixtape
