Gameshark, I cheated, did you?

Alright, so I bought GT4 after seeing some drifting videos and hearing that it's amazing. I also bought a gameshark. I used the gameshark to get $999,999,999,999 and all cars. I wanted the game for the soul reason as to drift. Did anybody else do this? I hope so, because i hate being a loner. 👍:yuck:

As you see, cheating is fine! As long as it doesn't make the actual driving easier. That would make the game boring.

I downloaded a .max file with billions of credits and 100% complete.

Cos why should I have to work hard to get stuff I already payed £30 for!?

I have and AR Max. I've cheated on GT3, but I also have a "pure" save. On GT4 no, but I do use it for other games:
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2, and the Ace Combat series...

Cheater, RIGHT HERE. But yeah, of course I cheated. Money, gold licenses, buy any cars for free etc.

Maybe..

Just stole a bunch of Bentley Speed 8 race cars and sold them off. A few times. Running low on cash ATM...

Don't feel like getting the 'Shark from downstairs, though. Ah well.

I don't cheat where feats of driving are concerned, though (No automatic golds for me, no sir!)

I have 200-250.

Mostly Japanese, as they're lighter, as (or more) powerful, and generally better balanced than American or European cars (But I DO have LOTS of Cougars... LOTS of them. The rest of the american cars available are a big meh to me, despite being a Ford [and 2k5+ Mustang] lover, I own only one Mustang GT, a couple Cobra R's, and one 630hp, full weight Lightning)

Then your not considered a cheater on this thread. This is GT4 cheaters!:sly:

dang straight, other wise, i wouldnt have 90 cars!
Only 90? I have 270!!!!!

No, it's never "fine" ... if I'm going to shell out $80 for a game, I don't want it cheapened by cheating because I'm too lazy to play the game properly.

Then again, you're the one who thought Guns of the Patriots would be made for the PS2, so I'm pretty sure you land on the wrong end of the moron scale.

Why the heck did you pay 80 bucks for a game? That makes it seem like you and Solidsnake are both at the same end of the scale...

On my current game, yes, I used a Gameshark 2 V1.1. I did get all golds on the license tests with it (don't worry, I can drive properly, but I'm not old enough in real life), as well as getting a '65 Silvia, '63 Skyline, '83 240RS, '62 Mazda Carol 360, 4 Jensen Interceptors, '91 Lancia Delta HF, '64 S600, '66 S800, '92 and '98 Nissan R92CP and R390 in black, GT One and 787B in black and a few of those other classics that you can't get with no mileage. But I got them with the Gameshark WITH NO MILEAGE! I GOT THEM BRAND NEW! I also made the AI dumb but it gets deactivated when you turn the PS2 off. But sadly my Gameshark doesn't work anymore due to a lot of scratches on the disc.

Too lazy to play the game properly? Try too busy.

The fact that otehrwise I'd be expected to put in "X" number of hours in order to be able to fully expliot a game I have payed "Y" amount of money for is bizarre.

Some games, say Time Splitters:FP don't really require you to cheat to advance the game. Alot of game play is available from the start. My argument with GT4 is that I didn't pay £30 to be limited to driving less than half of all the cars available.

And at the end of the day non of us, that I am aware of, are claiming to have 100% to look better than anyone else.

I got the game when it first came out, beat all the licenses in the first day, and after two I got another memory card and started over with cheats. So I have a hard earned profile(ruffly 70%) and another with cheats and plenty of cars.

I really only started cheating when I was past 30 percent, and money for my tuning exploits couldn't come in fast enough (That's where all my cash goes).

I really SHOULD restart...

The only code i use is the MAX CASH .. to buy expensive cars
from my ORIGINAL SAVE (free from any type of Cheat)

I'm against the use of other types of Code/Cheat , QUADRUPLE POWER etc etc

In this moment i have 4 memory cards.

In 2 memory cards i have my "sacred" (free from any cheat or code )
save and the backup (in my pc i have my GT4 progresses at step of 10%)

In 1 memory the save with the max cash to buy and test
cars (i.e. Top speed , las vegas , Boards contests , forum races)

In 1 Memory i'have bought ALL the car of GT4, this is my personal
GT4 DEALER :dopey:

By Max Drive i have ~250MB of replays and saves :)

I-R

I have an Ar-Max which I use to save replay files to and from the PS2. That's it. I didn't use it on either GT3 or GT4, and I didn't even import my GT3 save to get the money and license credits when I started GT4.

To me, playing the game is about playing the game.

Well I think cheating is ...cheating, but at least you're honest about it! Gotta give some +rep for that. Anyways, I think you're missing out on the entire point of the game if you just give yourself access to everything all at once. I'll re-iterate what Duke said:

To me, playing the game is about playing the game.

1. You're missing the spirit of racing & GT4: the struggle to learn good simulated driving. Earning gold in a license test. And then doing the next test till you earn gold there, too. Getting your ass whooped by some Ai and then learning how to drive better to the point that you consistently whoop THEM..that's what it's all about. :D

2. If you have access to all the money, parts, and cars, what's to stop you from ditching one car for another if you're having a tough go of things? Do pit crews (in real life) who aren't winning a season just all a sudden go "jeez we suck. Good thing we've got that 99 million stashed! UPGRADE!"

3. You're missing out on the awesome feeling of winning your first race (and getting paid!) You're missing out on all the milestones: first $100,000...first million....winning a prize car that you really want. Whenever I win a race-series and get paid the championship credits, I'm almost literally salivating as I wait to see what prize car I've just won!

4. Taking the "silver spoon" approach won't win you any GT cred with the real veterans and pros around here.

5. Some folks have completed the game, and then they do a 2nd game via cheating "for the fun of it". That's a completely different attack than someone who doesn't want to take the time to actually play the game as it is...

...I think (hope) I made my point! :grumpy:

Like I said, at least you're honest about what you're doing. So many people cheat and won't fess up to it. 👎

As you see, cheating is fine! As long as it doesn't make the actual driving easier. That would make the game boring.

Trust me...you will get bored. And i think you started this thread because you're intelligent enough to know better, so you want validation from other players. Since you originally bought the game to drift, you'll find you've cut yourself quite a project as cars in GT4 don't readily drift as well as they did in GT1, 2, and 3.

I'll be honest and admit that in my GT1 days and early GT2, I would occasionally cheat and pile on as much power as I could just to overkill the Ai. And you'll see what I mean...it gets boring once you remove the challenges GT intended.

First of all there COULD have been a possibility of the game being on PS2. Second, I only cheat on games with no story line. And third, who pays $80 on GT4? I got it at Walmart for $25

I agree with everything Parnelli said I play GTs for those exact reason's as well. Its fun too challenge your skills (ie getting all golds, 100% comp 100,000 A spec points ect,) it makes you more proud of your accomplishmints.

But it is good to actually tell the truth, what ever floats one's boat I suppose.

i did it soi wouldn't become so hooked to it, if I was open to get anything i wanted, where's the pleasure in that? it's like playing games with hacks... literally

imo. I felt a little 'dirty' using the capri and dutch touring money earners the first time i played, also using b-spec a hell-of-a-lot.

now i have restarted and not used any money cheats along the way, got 70% in to the game with only buying the mx5 and the ram. now i have gotten all golds and am now trying for max points, and absolutley loving the game more than i did before.
