Gameshark, I cheated, did you?

People can do whatever they want. They bought the game...it's theirs...I'm just trying to suggest a non-cheating route is the better route. It's just more fulfilling that way. Whatever, tho.

and someone paid 80 DOLLARS for GT4? I might pay that much for a special version that includes Ferraris, Lambos, and Porsches!

I'd +Rep Parnelli Bone for his long post above, but alas, I've been thwarted by the "You must spread....." message. :banghead: I'll be back when I can reward such a good post.

I'm in agreement with him & Duke on this. No cheating whatsoever for me. Hell, I even consider B-spec to be a cheap way out of enjoying the game, and hence my 100% and 70,000+ A-spec point game which has 485 out of 525 cars in the garage having been raced in some event or other, has B-spec stats of 0-0-0-0! That's the way they'll stay. 👍

I earned my 80 gold licences, (+5 Coffee Breaks), my cars, my cash and my points by myself. So forgive me for being smug about it!!!!

Thanks, I was worried about getting flamed by at least someone here. +rep (or the attempt thereof) is a surprise!

I don't consider it smugness at all...I consider it skill. You worked for your bonuses.

And I forgot about B-spec. I'll admit I've used it..therefore I've cheated. 2 things however. No make that 3:

1. I never overkill my b-spec cars (other than shodding them with S3 soft sport tires; I myself use N2s, S1s or S2s in races). I want Bob to have close races just like I do, so he's lost just as many races as I have in the effort to give him better battle points. I've sat there sweating bullets plenty of time as Bob screws up. But the thing is...he eventually does get better. I like giving Bob a shift during endurance races too...he tends to screw up a bit and it means I gotta clean up his mess sometimes, but it's worth the work, sometimes, too.

2. I'm just fascinated with b-spec. I'll admit it! I DIG watching someone else on my imaginary team do some work while I sit there eating dinner. And in my opinion, B-spec still takes a lot of strategy. It still takes some planning...and things still don't go as you wished for Bob. Every great endurance driver (Jacky Icyx, Andretti, Mansell..you name it) has had a co-driver take over to relieve him, why can't we?!!!!!! :D  :D

3. cheating with Bob is not nearly as bad as starting the Sunday Cup with a friggin' Cadillac Cien! I mean...come on!

:guilty: it's a bit of a shame that you cant get at-least some points, :sly: if you have used bob. i mean i dont really have the time to play a 24hr endurance race over two or three weeks. (it should be a percentage based points e.g. you race a 200 pointer 50% you get 100 points or you race 10% you get 20 points). although i do like the fact that you cant use bob to do the missions. because if you can pass these missions it is a milestone. (imo)

this is definately over the top. there should have been hp restrictions for all races so you cant do this. but there isnt, so it is down to self discipline to control yourself.

however if you have either bought the game yourself or been given it, you can play however you like and if 'cheating' still gives you pleasure in the game, so be it. but it is a shame if you have cheated before you get a real understanding of what the game is about. because especially if you can get 80 golds by yourself then that is an achievement and you will be happy that you did not cheat to achieve it. (as above same with the missions)

👍 to that, in theory anyway. I used that technique in the 1000 Miles! events (yeah yeah I know they aren't that long) and enjoyed the co-driver experience, but also noticed the downside. Often, Bob is just too damn slow! :grumpy: Often, if I pick a car that I find makes a challenging race for me, Bob gets his butt kicked. Or, if I pick a car that he can keep up in, I have a boring race. It's not always like that, but this is usually what happens if I've selected a car that's underpowered compared to the competition (doesn't seem to matter if the car is twice as good around corners).

That's what I was saying about "having to clean Bob's mess up". If I power my car up to the point that Bob has an easier drive, then
I'll wind up being bored. So I'll go for a close race, but I often can't help letting Bob take over. It's just that most of the time he'll screw up so bad, I'll sometimes wind up losing a 3 or 4 hour race due to his ineptitude! :grumpy:

I feel the same way about the 24 hour endurance issue, in real racing drivers switch between 3 of them in a 24 hour endurance. I dont consider it cheating to use b spec for some time in the 24 hour race(about 8-16 hours for B-spec). I have a question, I have never done the 24 hour races yet but if you use B-spec only for a little bit but finish the race yourself do you not get the all the A-spec points you should. If thats the case than those at PD are evil:grumpy:

If you use B-spec at all - even one lap - you get ZERO A-spec points.

extremelly annoying, especially when i was doing the new york, i was running in first during my first 200 pointer went in to the pits and accidentlly changed to b-spec. doh!

So what? A-spec points are just notches on the belt...something to brag about. It's funny...the whole A-spec system is skewed in my opinion. 5-point races can be more challenging than 200-point races sometimes.

Well I used a Codebreaker to purchase a few Un-Buyable cars.... Suzuki Escudo '98, I loved that car in GT3

I picked up AR. I was hoping to find a way to put aftermarket wheels on cars that you normally cant, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Oh well, I have 700 or so cars I need to tune and race with...:)

I also cheat, but i dont use the gameshark i use the Code breaker. I got money and licenses. "Your not the only one Solid Snake ". Also the my codebreaker gots over 1000 codes!!!!

I cheated too. My first runthrough, I didn't feel like going through the license tests after doing so in GT2 and 3, so I used my AR MAX to skip them, as well as the harder driving missions and get max money so I could just get all the cars and race. However, I started a new file that I'm not cheating at all on.

On top of getting this much money, i used the Idiot AI, if gas and no tire wear codes so i could leave the ps2 overnight for enduros and extreme halls events.

On top of that, I used some codes allowingany car in a dealership to be sellable. So Concept Cars can't hide from me!

i bought a ps3 and didnt buy the memcard adapter, so i DL'ed a gamesave from gamefaqs, so yeah i cheated but for a reason. (i had about 92% done b4, now i hae 81% but dont play nearly as much).

I used Action Replay Max to do the Infinite $ cheat.

However, I did the cheat AFTER I won all the licenses, challenges, race halls, manufacturers races, etc.

I had a save with very little progress, but the licenses up to IA were done. That got deleted, so I asked Speed Drifter for a save with those done. TechnicallyI only cheated out of what I had done before.

I don't own any cheating devices, and will never buy one. Say what you will, but I consider B-Spec cheating. I mean, I bought the game to play, not to watch someone else drive for me. I even did the Nurb 24 in all A-Spec. Granted, I did use the Costa di Amalfi race to get some credits when I first started a game (or on Day 645 when I needed some major cash to be able to buy the Black Beauties:sly:), but that's the closest I will ever get to actually cheating.

....yes it does kill the game. I'm glad somebody has seen the light! :indiff:
It doesnt kill the game.

If you are a kid with time to kill - more power to you. But as an adult that enjoys the odd game play now and again, being able to access all the features/options and content without having to spend the needed 500 hours that you don't have is great.

How come all the "anti-cheating" brigade can not fathom that it is possible to have multiple game saves, and enjoy the unlocked content one day, then play the hardcore manual credit by credit and race by race way the next day.

??

Besides - if you have PAID money for the game, you should be able to choose when and how you access the content you PAID money for.

I also cheat, but i dont use the gameshark i use the Code breaker. I got money and licenses. "Your not the only one Solid Snake ". Also the my codebreaker gots over 1000 codes!!!!
But do you have a separate game save with which you actually play the game to it's fullest?:sly:

Like I said, my gameshark save game is used just for drifting and deciding which car to buy.👍
