General Model Kit Building Thread

Got to work on some models over the last few days (haven't been able to as our entire floor had to be replaced, again...), and got the interior done on the Subaru WRC, got the blue on the Ford GTLM, and the Mustang GT4 decal'd up. to be fair, only a handful of decals on it.

Finished another kit. 1982 Corvette by ARII. This one is an older casting so the shape is a bit off. And the wheels are too big. Oh well, I had fun.

Not much to note about the build itself. Mostly out of box, but I did 3D print a few things. All four indicators, the vents behind the front wheels and the door handles. The side windows are clear acetate since the kit didn't come with any. Also, the decals were useless, so I hand painted the emblems. The rear plate is cut out of white decal paper using a plotter.

Bumping the thread with a new build finished!
At a build time of just 32 days, this is my fastest completed car!
Revell's take on the 934 RSR.

Nice job 👏

I have the same car but the Tamiya version in my stash. I plan on doing an alternative livery though.

Speaking of Tamiya & Jagermeister, Tamiya have just released a new Jagermeister Porsche 962C in 1:24 if you're interested.

Thank you!

And thanks for the heads up, but I already have the Tamiya 962C in shell livery waiting for it's time to shine.

Just about done... couple little decals to finish up and mount the front splitter, and then done. Try and get some better pics once complete.

Gonna wrap this one up and then have a bunch of crap around the house to do... after that will be trying to knock-out the Mustang GT4 and Ford GTLM...

That's ended up looking super professional 👏

Apparently, the decals around the rear door & rear wheel are somewhat difficult, thanks to the bulging bodywork.
Did you have any dramas with it?

Sure did... they will split on the portion where the fender flare meets the rear door. The decal did that on the drivers side (side I did first), so on the passenger side I put them down without trying to get it to conform to the shape until after I had put some Micro Sol on that part of it. Turned out better on the passenger side. On the drivers side I just pushed them together a little more so the "tear" was mostly hidden. Those two huge decals, one on either side (I believe they're number 1 & 2), are the only real challenge as far as the decals go, though.

And appreciate it, but it is definitely not pro level - definitely a 5-footer. I have a couple of my "usual mistakes" and a couple of new ones as well. Will say this isn't the easiest car to do, and even though it's only one color, Mica Blue I think is the name, it's got plenty of other areas that can be a little difficult. Not horrible, just a challenge. It does buildup nice though, and is a good looking car.

EDIT:

It was on both sides, and I think it was decals #3 & 4... the one with the two stripes. Here's the only real close-up I have of it (and did the pass side first).

And here's the driver side, little bit harder to see, but I was able to push the "tear", or split, portion together some...
This was definitely the most difficult part.

The driver side definitely looks better.
