General San Andreas Discussion and Questions

Has anyone noticed that when you leave CJ idol for about 5 minutes he starts looking around him at things going on. For example, when I was on the phone downstairs I came back up to find that CJ had "zoomed" in on a Police chase that was happening in the street. It's hard to explain the camera angles. Check it out.
I noticed that yesterday outside the 'Bondage' (am I allowed to say that?) girlfriend's house. My CJ was checking out this Las Venturas 'hottie's' rear.

I was just goofing around to see what responses i would get all of a sudden one of them pulls out a knife and wants to fight. Looks like you can provoke some pedestrians in to a fight just by bumping in to them repeatedly.

Also I seem to have run in to some kinf of bug. Basketballs have stopped spawning in my main game so no more shooting hoops for me. Very annoying.

Yeah, I noticed that basketballs don't appear anymore. :yuck:

Same, I went into Madd Dogg's house and into his Gym where there's a basketball hoop. No basketball. Hmm. I thought this was only a glitch with his house though, I'm going to check other places.

Yeah, but it's not when you bump into them repeatedly. I found out it was a Triad who was shooting at me. Never try to say things back to them. Just ignore them. He said something (didn't hear), and CJ said "Yeah baby, Grove Street 4 Life!"

He started shooting me. But they only shoot when you say something back, and it's something they don't like. From now on, I'm just going to be careful around the Triads, as they don't appreciate smart-ass comments on the odd occasion.

I know about the response thing, which is way cool but this was different.

I was repeatedly pushing (not punching) a hooker to see what she would say, It a great way to get a laugh cause the tend to say all kinds of funny stuff.

After a while she had enough and said: Lets see if you like this as much as you like me (well something like that) and pulled out a knife. She managed to stab me a few times cause i was to busy laughing.

Lol. That's hilarious. I suppose they would get annoyed. I've never repeatedly run into a Hooker or Triad, etc. I've just repeatedly run into that short chick with Dark Hair, wearing a blue Sleeveless Top and a black Skirt. She also wears Boots I think.

She gets really pissed off. I love when someone complements you and you reply negatively, then after, they get annoyed and say something back again.

I'm busy looking at the files on the disk that can be opened with a text editor and looked at. There's one with a list of all the car colours in the game and their descriptions and which cars come in what colours. One of the colours is labelled as "Hot Pink - don't use this". Haha!

There's also a file with a list of what cars can get certain mods. But it's hard to understand the mod names - nto_b_l, nto_b_s, nto_b_tw are all obviously nitrous mods, but I don't know what rf_b_sc_r, wg_l_b_ssk, bnt_b_sc_p_m, exh_b_t, spl_b_bbb_m, spl_b_bab_m are.

Another file has a list of something to do with weapons. It contains Vice City weapons which are marked as OLD REMOVED WEAPON MODELS which includes entries like:
#332, screwdriver, screwdriver, null, 1, 50, 0
#337, hammer, hammer, null, 1, 50, 0
but also has an entry for
#358, laser, laser, rifle, 1, 50, 0
There was a laser gun in Vice City? Must be just the name they gave one of the weapons.

It's also got a list of the San Andreas guns like the following:
# melee weapons
330, cellphone, cellphone, null, 1, 50, 0
331, brassknuckle, brassknuckle, null, 1, 50, 0
333, golfclub, golfclub, null, 1, 50, 0
but also has the following very strange name for a gun. It's beside the Sniper rifle in the list so I suppose it's the Country Rifle:
# rifles
357, ****gun, ****gun, rifle, 1, 50, 0

I read on another forum there was rumours of some sort of raygun. There's no obvious evidence of it in this file, but there is the following listed under special weapons and I can't figure out what gun it is:
371, gun_para, gun_para, null, 1, 100, 0
Paranormal gun? Probably not.

I found a file on the San Andreas DVD which had buried in it what looks like a list of the criminal rating levels. So it looks like Godfather is no longer the highest level. King of San Andreas is where it's at! I had to extract these from a file with a lot of binary junk.

They were all run together in one string so some I may have split some into 2 or joined 2 together without realising it.

that is probably the sniper rifle with the laser scope (when you looked through the scope it would have a red dot on your target

Yeah, I'm a Hoo-rider. Almost at the king of san andreas.
I wouldn't be so sure. In Vice City, the gaps between levels got bigger and bigger. There were over 50 different criminal rating levels. When you had 500,000 points you were at the second highest level. In order to get to the last level, you had to get as much points as all the other levels combined. I'm at Hoo-rider and I've about 18,000 points. If it's anything like Vice City, the highest level will be at 1 million or more.

I've got a question about this game, I just realized today, what happened to the spike strips? They were in the driving school, other than that the cops never use them.

Yeah i noticed he sings aswell!. I think its a cool addition to the game.

Yeah i wonderd that aswell, hevnt seen the cop use them at all, but then again i have'nt really played much with a wanted level, except for missions.
It would be cool if you could buy that car that has those stingers equiped, or be able to equipe your car with them.:)

Yeah I've had a fair few chases and stuff the cops never use them, I guess a fair few people complained about it. I didn't mind it but I think the cops used them too much, every walking cop used them, way too much. If they could make them do it more sparingly it would be good, or maybe set them up infront of a road block.

The spike strips were great! You had to be on your wits when on a chase. Lots of the time you had to swerve at the last moment to avoid them and it was always a fun challenge getting to a Pay'n'Spray with your tyres blown out. I don't see what advantage there is by removing them...

Another thing I've noticed (Famine mentioned this in the 100% checklist thread) is that the army are too easy in this game. On the mission Vertical Bird, you're expected to sneak to your destination and use stealth kills, but there's only 4 or 5 soldiers and they're no challenge whatsoever to kill. When they see you they just stare at you for a second before opening fire. The army in Vice City were never that slow or easy. And even if they do get round to opening fire, they don't do near the damage they did in previous games.

I haven't gone on any six star chases yet so I don't know if they're any different then as opposed to on a mission. Has anyone had experience with them while on a six star rampage?

Which brings up something else... In the previous 2 GTA games, there were plenty of missions where you were instantly slapped with a 4 or 5 star wanted level as soon as you accomplished something, so you had a tough enough chase back to your destination or you had to find stars or a Pay'n'Spray. But in San Andreas I can hardly remember any missions with a high wanted level, and I can't remember anything like the chases of Vice City where FBI were ramming you or Enforcers were blocking your route and the cops were setting out spike strips to get you (in missions like Copland, Juju Scramble, Naval Engagement you end up with 5 stars).

Yeah, the law enforcement isn't too hard to get rid off.

On another note, I'm facing two slight problems right now. So far I've finished the main story line (did all I could do along the way) and I'm just going around and completing the rest.

Problem nr. 1 : I still need to collect one car for export from the 1st list ... the sentinel (!) I just can't find it. I still haven't seen it in the game and I've been searching for ages. Where did you guys find it? Seriously, I think I know what it looks like (from the two previous GTAs) and I've been jacking a LOT of cars.

Prob nr. 2 : More like a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to: is it possible to get 100% of the gang territories under your controll? I'm stuck at 98.x % and can't find a single speck on the map that could belong to a different gang. I've been looking very close since I've had to capture some small territories before. The good thing is that the attacks seem to have stopped, so I'm happy with that.

thanks!

1) Sentinel looks fairly boring in this game... just keep jacking 4 door sedans and you'll find one.

2) Yes... I had 100% of territories under my control before I went to SF...

There's a tiny tiny Yellow one you have to capture... and have you got all of the very light pink Beachside ones?

thanks for the quick reply

~1: I've been jacking every 4 door sedan that I come across for quite a while now. I quess I'll just have to keep doing that. What part of San Andreas do you see them the most? Or can you link em to certain cars?

~2: I think I've got the tiny yellow one allready, the large ones near the big were easy. I just find it strange that they include such small territories, especially the one just bellow the Los Santos sign, which is just the sidewalk for 30m. I'll give it another good look.

update : Finally came across one, but then one the way to the docks I just had to flip the car :dunce: The sentinel was waiting for me in one of the casino parking lots. I'll get another soon enough.

Nice one... You now know why I found it hard to describe it... it's fairly boring and doesn't really stand out!!

Good luck hunting for that last territory... they can be quite annoying sometimes...

The Admiral and Sentinel are so plain and dull, I have also found that carsets are still very much used. I was reloading my game outside the Triad casino constantly and all you saw for about 5 mins was the same 3-4 cars until I reloaded it. Then the same happened again etc.

Same here. Looked damn near everywhere but still cant find it.

Street Races
I'm well impressed with how the street races are done in San Andreas.

1) You don't have to drive to the race start after you select a race. There's none of the frustration involved with races like Tour! in Vice City where you have to drive half way across the city to do a race. You're transported to the race start point automatically! Huzzah!

2) You've got no choice as to what vehicle you use. You're automatically given a certain vehicle and you can't change! Everyone in the record book is using a level playing field.

3) There's a much wider variety of races - a cross country race using the Sanchez, a cross country race using the Bandito, a cross city races using the Go Kart, an endurance race around the San Fierro countryside using the Bullet, a Los Santos street race using the Super GT, some street races using the FCR900, etc.

The Street Races in San Andreas rule! We're all on a level playing field with a wide variety of races and a wide variety of vehicles.

KM.

I totally agree, but with badlands A and badlands B, in the mission you can choose your car for badlands A, but not with race garage. but the rest are all good

As for the sentinel I found it by accident, just jacked a car and it was it. looks pretty plain now, must because its an 80's car, just like the pcj600 is not as good as it used to be.
