Getting the hang of things (or why do/did I suck at drifting?)

I'm having a hell of a time getting Gold (or silver, or bronze) on the latest open drift trial (I golded the other one easily). I've hit 3600-3700 a couple times, but I just can't seem to string anything together, particularly on the first sector of Laguna Seca. Anybody have any tips? I've tried my every day drifter and my D1 Blitz, but the track just seems really crappy for drifting around and with only three sectors there's not much margin for error.

Drifting can be hard to start at first, most racers IRL had to practice overnight to drift. Like Manabu Orido, he practice drifting around his local Touge all day and night after watching a Keiichi Tsuchiya Video. I prefer Tsukuba, Top Gear Track, Eiger Nordwand, Suzuka, Deep Forest Raceway and Autumn Ring Mini, I would suggest to practice on the Top Gear track first and then try practice on the other tracks once you get the hang of it. Most people would start off with a good FR layout car like the S13, AE86, S2000, FD, NA6C Roadster and etc. I would start off with the NA6C Roadster NA S.P.and just buy Adjustable Coilovers, Adjustable LSD, Semi Racing Clutch and Twin Clutch. If you want, you can add a little bit of power but not too much, I prefer just ECU tuning, Sports Exhaust and Sports Exhaust Headers(Exhaust Manifold) and start tweaking a bit with the suspension and LSD

Yeah man, go slow and try as best you can to stick to the racing line... The drift trials are all about how much you can spin the wheels on the racing line... I've found that by drifting slower, but staying on the line, I get enough points to gold with 2 or 3 tries...

What time zone are you btw? and what time do you normally play in that time zone? perhaps you could add me and I'll show you what I mean... PSN is my forum name as well...

I'm in CST. My playtimes are kind of all over the place depending on when I get home from work and when my fiance gets home.
