Google has just changed it logo, the first major revamp in it's 16 year history. It is to bring it in line with the new parent company Alphabet and also modernise the image of the company. Expect lots of other logos and fonts of associated products to also change.

Thoughts? I dunno maybe it's because the old one has been so ingrained in people minds the new one looks like a knock off of itself  plus is looks even more preschool / Fisher Price than before!

It kinda reminds me of Hillary's campaign logo, like it was designed to be the same sort of style

Huge improvement. The old logo felt very dated and not at all in line with the rest of their graphical elements.

So i play the video on the Android tablet with voice detection on all screen on.

Then at the end, the video chants "ok google"........

Don't mind the word, even with the crooked E, but I hate the G logo.
Exactly what I was thinking! Just TERRIBLE. :yuck: :Puking: EDIT: :vomiting:

Personally... not really liking it. Thing is, all the new fonts seem to be too "Kiddish" in the a way I cannot really explain. I like the fact that they made the "e" slightly rotated, gives it some flair. Not liking the capital G much at all. It all just looks too plain. The bottom right one on the presentation board I sort of like, because it is like a modern twist, with a hint to the past with the lowercase 'g'. Glad they didn't do a Microsoft and rid the logo of colours though.

I'm up for Material Design, but the new logo does look a bit childish. However at the same time practically everyone uses Google.

Here's a nice animation of the new logo.

I still prefer this one.

Seriously though it's not really noticeable, just bit pointless thing to change.

Oh look. It's the exact same generic sans serif minimalist crap that everyone else has already copied after Apple damn near everyone did it ten starting fifty years ago. Whoo.

Fixed that for you.

Fun fact: Helvetica has been around since the late 50's, and everyone began to adopt clean logotypes in the following decades. This is has very little to do with Apple, if anything.

I still prefer this one.

It actually isn't pointless as serif font's don't render as well on pixel displays and can run into aliasing issues.

Yup, everyone is going block colours and sans serif now. It looks very similar to the recently new Microsoft logo which looks a billion times worse than the old one.

It's kinda disappointing how often companies are changing logo's now, especially tech ones and they all seem to follow Apple, when they decided glass effect and shaded logo's/icons were old fashioned and switched to bright matt colours everyone followed :ouch:

I don't think we will ever see on modern company ever again that sticks to it's logo for 100 years like Kellogg's or Ford.

Do you hear that, a upset in the cosmic balance and thus the earth will soon come to end due to this major shake up at Google. Seriously though how will people normally realize that Google has a new logo (without media) when every flippin day they're making me recognize a birthday or historical event that is not always of the greatest importance, sure Tesla I get, but the 3rd Arch duke of some no longer existing nation...I do not.

Apple was actually pretty slow to switch to flat icons and removing textures from their interfaces... Microsoft beat them to it by years with the Metro UI on the Zune. Really don't understand why everyone thinks Apple is always the "leader" in these kinds of things.

And as pointed out, Ford's logo has changed. Kellogg's has also changed though just minor adjustments over the years, similar to what Coca-Cola has been doing for the past few decades. I really can't think of a single company that hasn't modified their logo with the times.

Something isn't cool until Apple does it. Or so the masses of sheep are under the impression. Just wait until they add a edge screen to the iPhone and everyone proclaiming it like its the second coming of Christ.

In regard to the logo, its still just the name of the company. Its as endearing as before, really.

I was referring to the Google logo

I know but you said it is modern.

Thus I responded with who defines what "modern" is

I personally do not like these 2D 4bit color logos used these days.
