Much of the discussion on this forum isn't much different, as pointed out. The most popular section is the GT5 section, so not much else I need to say.

Just because your extremely limited peer group reflects a waste of time doesn't mean everyone will waste time.

As additional food for thought, you are also more aware when people choose to waste time via Facebook because of the nature of social networks. Which means the "waste of time" you see is that most often, versus how often people might just stay in and watch tele, play video games, or sniff glue etc.

Not to mention the irony of mentioning how people will waste time and be dumber while you post and discuss people wasting time on social networks via a forum. Where you are wasting time talking about people wasting time and being dumb.

I hate the way google talk about it like it's something we need.

Eh, it's marketing, if they didn't try to make you think you need it they'd be doing a bad job.

Anyway I don't think I'll be buying one. Not because I think they're going to be useless, just because I don't think I'd wear them enough to justify whatever price they'll probably carry. I'll definitely want to at least give it a try if I get a chance, because I've always been curious what it'd feel like to have you own personal HUD. I just don't think the videos can really convey that feeling because of that whole peripheral vision thing.

You're missing my point. For the record, I don't go on Facebook to talk about how my life is bad. My point being that on most social networking websites (for me anyway), there is no intelligent discussion going on, just mindless talking.
How about deleting all the friends you've never talked to, and start posting links to topics you'd enjoy discussing and see what comes of it.

I currently have regular discussions with an anarchist, a socialist, a war-monger and an idiot. It's all good fun.

This. Don't add stupid people or people you don't actually want to talk to. It goes a long way to making Facebook much more tolerable.

I love the idea still, but the look of them and $1500 is ridiculous. If they made them look like Hipster glasses and they were about half the price they would sell hundreds of thousands immediately.

If you think about it an iPhone is what $800 and you can't wear it on your face. $1,500 isn't that bad.

I'm sure I could, with a couple zip ties and a rubber band or two. My HTC Thunderbolt was $600, but I do see the point. Maybe $1k, but I'd never wear it for fear of them breaking.

They would be useless for me since I need prescription glasses(can only see 6 inches away from my eyes clear) and even then that would likely add to the price if I could get it with a prescription lens.

I wonder if I can see my hit point, energy, food, thirst, and satisfaction meters on this thing.

$1500 (just under £1000) sounds like quite a reasonable price for what it is. I was thinking it might be at least double that price, but it isn't something I'd fork my money over for.

$1,500 worth of high tech gadgetry loosely connected to one's head will attract more than a few muggers/thieves.
