GPS Data Visualizer Impression

After the new video was posted on GTP with a pro drifter behind the wheel of an FRS I was wonder what everyone's impression of it is. In my opinion, the tech looks pretty cool... if you have a car equipped with the required ECU and a track that's also in GT. The tech would be a decent tool for guys looking to analyze their own laps. However, I don't know how useful this tech is to the majority of us. What do you guys and gals think?

Only comment I have :

Do we finally get motion blur? :D Looked like that in the vid.

A lot of people here don't realize the visualizer and the course maker are two different things. The visualizer transfers ecu movement into telementy that is then replayed on the game, and created to make a lap around tracks in GT. The course maker is where anyone (possibly with the inclusion of a mobile app) can create their own track based on GPS coordinates and elevation...

I can't wait to see a lap with the visualizer at Le Mans

I love this feature and can't wait till it's full implementation. I can utilize both the GPS Visualizer and the GPS Course Maker, as I frequent the race track and would love to put tracks not in the game....in the game.

Some things I noticed in the video:

1. Displayed brake and throttle movement ... cool.
2. Showed tire heat? How? Slip angle?

I think this is really cool tech. And I would love to drive against my own lap from real life in the game. But I can't get too excited about it until they release something that will use standard ODBII data that we all currently have available on our late model cars. I currently have a bluetooth ODBII sensor that I use to send real time data from my car to applications like Harry's Lap Timer on the iPhone or Trackmaster on the Android. So it should be doable. And once that is released ... well you will begin to see some really cool stuff out there. No other sim on the planet will be able to touch that.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If PD can give us accurate laps like this, when will they add a feature where we can go against a real lap time, with a certain car combo? Chase events where we have to beat a real lap time, but it's AI driving it. Yes, AI will try to stick to that line it's been given, but maybe give it a bit of freedom based on your car position too. They missed out on this in GT5 with the Top Gear Test Track and The Stig.

Obviously most people won't be able to make use of this feature. However it is a really cool feature, and gives GT6 more credentials as a simulator.

Is it just me or does it look like the actual tire grip is a tad lower than what we've come to expect in GT5?

Actually, at this point, the GPS Data Visualizer has nothing to do with GT as a simulator, it's more of a novelty feature. Looks good on paper and in video replay's but that's all it does is create a replay. It has nothing to do with gameplay whatsoever.

It will if they incorporate making your real life lap time a Ghost that you can play against. Imagine a pro driver doing a lap with this, and then PD puts out a challenge for you to beat...Oh say....Travis Pastrama's lap time.

True, which is why I qualified my response with "at this point". The potential for this is huge and ongoing. Whether PD realizes this and does anything with it is the question.

First is that they will try to get real world telemetry into the game.
So we have Alfonso, Hamilton, Loeb, Vettel, etc, etc as AI. That is F!n awesome. Gone will be the days of crappy AI.
They just dump real race data and wolla. (they have mentioned this already)

Second question is IF the data analyzer will work
on a track you created with the GPS track maker. If so WOOT! If no - why not!
Go drive your favorite places or courses and then practice in game. Go back drive them and dump data to game to see how you really fair and where you need to correct things. Brilliant
