The issue I have is that some people will go to extreme lengths to show their displeasure at the game, when they don't attempt to get any out of it in the first place.
Yes but nobody here is doing that at the moment!

That doesn't make any sense. People aren't "playing for the update", they're not playing the game because they feel it's flawed and not an enjoyable product (an opinion they're entitled to) and are instead waiting for an update that might make them put the disc back in.

That doesn't mean that the game isn't for them, it means the game isn't meeting their expectations based on things PD have mentioned and promised for said game nearly a year ago.

Also this. This with :censored:ing bells on. THIS.

Woah I thought you and @hsv010 were best friends just a couple days ago?
I'm friendly with anyone who appears rational and intelligent. At the moment he isn't being and it's rubbed me up the wrong way for some reason. Perhaps because I know he isn't always like this.

Yes, moaning about livery editors and other things not promised doesn't make much sense. What we are talking about here however are features PD promised for the game, and just perhaps that is why people bought it. Based on what PD said it would be able to do.
These updates show they are listening though. They're getting out promised features to us. It may take longer than some expected, but they're working pretty hard by actually getting what was promised to us.

Hence the "uuuurrgh PD never listens this update is crap" crew have their posts nullified.

Unbelieveable ..... what a cash it produced ... GTA V that is ...

R* has been listening to it's fans though even with the massive hacking debacle of GTA Online, where as PD... Eh, let's just add in some random stuff after a 2 month period of nothing.

How many times do I have to say this - you're not the only person playing GT6. PD don't revolve their updates around you. There are a countless number of people more than perfectly satisfied with the game and the updates.

As for me? I don't expect the game to revolve around me, but I expect the game to be better than it's predecessor.

As I've stated multiple times, I've bought GT6 for it's photomode, (go ahead, go ask in the photomode forum how many people bought GT6 just for photomode) as there is no other game out there that produces the same kind of mode. I, and the rest of the photomode section expected it to be GT5's photomode with additions, instead of getting 2 nearly useless filters added on the ability to add another car in scene, and 8 locations removed, and lower quality overall in comparision to GT5's.

And as I've said before, imagine buying a game for racing, only to have multiple tracks cut, 1 okay feature and 2 useless things added, and the quality just be worse than the previous game. Would you not be pissed and dissapointed when the game gets an update and it adds in features that you couldn't care less about?

Yes, PD is probably, hopefully working on some photomode addtions, but really, I just want them to fix the thing to atleast GT5 level. Hell, if you think about it, GT6's is more basic and boring than GT4's.

Do they? Where is the "Build a custom wing" request thread? I must've missed it. I'm not saying it's not something some people will like but to my knowledge it's not a heavily requested feature.

Everything that everyone is having a fit about is being worked on, and these updates prove it.

Patience, patience people!

If I see that word once more......

"More customisation" was a general term for a promised future update. It happened this morning, so who's not to say we'll get more of the promised features?

Isn't that how it's supposed to work, less wing=less downforce? Not sure I'm following your logic. Won't people just use whatever wings they like anyway regardless of downforce?

See, that's the thing. It doesn't necessarily work that way. It depends completely on the design of the rest of the car, and how the wing fits into that.

The new F1 cars are an easy example. Their rear wings are really small compared to other racing categories. Yet, due the airflow from all around the rest of the car being directed that way, those small wings generate a giant amount of downforce.

So you see, if you implement a generic formula you completely bypass these implications, and in a sense, do worse justice to aerodynamics than with the current effects.

---

Mind you, I'd be all for a proper aero system, but it is just not realistic currently. I'd also hate to be forced to buy stupidly oversized wings for every car I want to use online just to be competitive.

So if you took your car into the shop, left it for the weekend because your remote car starter was working only intermittently, sometimes the water pump shut off and you nearly overheated, once in a while the wipers didn't work and went to pick it up on Monday and the mechanic said, "Hey I worked on it all weekend, you now have tinted windows and new tires", would you be happy?

What you have now is the most possible generic system of all though. Any wing, regardless of area, width or height, on every single car, produces the exact same downforce, which can be adjusted up or down with a slider with no visual changes to align with the aerodynamic changes. Seems to me just about anything is better than that even if it's not aerodynamically perfectly simulated.

In what way? Please elaborate.
Getting features that they promised out, has nothing to do with them listening.

Does someone have succeeded on 3D gaming? Mine is saying "currently unavailable", updated my SONY 3D TV's Firmware again, no help, same TV worked fine on GT5 3D.

99% of the moaning on here is PD not bringing out promised features, so when they do bring them out, i'd say it's a fairly good indication of it being high on their priorities.

Told you fools we were getting the data logger ;D But this custom wing add-on is pretty damn awesome. And the GPS visualizer is nice for the few guys that actually have it, and the data logger's also a really nice thing to have.

I'm pretty happy with this update overall.

I'd say about 49 percent of the moaning is people complaining about advertised features they bought the game for not being added. Then there's 50 percent that sits around moaning that others dare have a complaint. Then there's the 1 percent that loves grinding for no point games and they're pretty much happy and silent.

So I guess it's going to be another two month wait for the next update to not contain the promised and advertised features the vast majority of players are waiting for. Maybe some more stuff for Kaz and his friends though.

Does anybody remember PD saying that we'd be able to "create our own aero", or something along those lines? I think the wings could be the first step to fully customisable aero packages.

Then there's the 1 percent that loves grinding for no point games and they're pretty much happy and silent.
I have no major complaints about the game, but it's only because I enjoy driving and racing to the point where it's what my life revolves around.

I don't mean this as on offensive since we were all young once but you're also 14, what kids want and what adults want from gaming can be pretty different. You're perhaps so happy with GT6 because you can't drive in real life, so any driving game is going to be more a pleasure than for those of us that can drive in reality. It's also I assume your first or second Gran Turismo game, or at least the first one you can fully appreciate. Again for us that have been playing since GT1 15 years ago our expectations are different. For you what GT offers today is new, it's fresh, for us we've had a long time of it already, before you were even born.

Again this is not an offense on your age, just a thought and observation.

Interesting you say that, because what I wanted from racing games from when I was 6/7 is very different to what I want now.

I am a GT collector though, and I regularly play GT1/2/3. I drive because i'm a motorsport enthusiast, and as somebody who had a potential racing career ahead of them a few years ago, I use it as some sort of training and mental fitness programme.

I do love cars though, so it's ultimately a blend of the two biggest aspects of my life.

I can feel GT dipping too, but I don't feel it's anywhere near as bad as some are making it out to be.

@Samus / true words...

GT6, at point of release, was personally the most vanilla GT game of the last 2 generations (GT3-6).

It's getting there though, if we get community features and/or track creator in the next "big" update, it will be on its way to be one of the best in the franchise so far.

Yes but you didn't experience them in order, over a 15 year period as we did. Playing them all in one go after release is very different to putting GT1 in the PS1 back in 1998 with nothing else to go off. At 6/7 you can't fully appreciate any intricate game IMO.

To be honest, I gained a huge amount of car knowledge through two sources - the books that were force fed to me as a baby (apparently I used to watch WRC as a 3 year old and name every car to my relatives ), and Gran Turismo.

I agree with the first part. The bolded part I can't agree with at all. My ability to drive IRL doesn't negatively impact my enjoyment of flying around the Nordschleife or Spa in a fast car. I would say my ability to drive enhances my GT enjoyment because I never get to drive on the road like I do in GT games. Maybe others feel the way you do though.

My views on this update:

In a way, it can be viewed as a brilliant update...mainly because it shows that PD are still updating the game, which a lot of people were questioning given the lack of communication, lack of "alleged" new track in February etc. Some people will be happy with the new stuff, others will be thoroughly disappointed....personally, I'm disappointed purely because there was new real new content (beyond a new seasonal and a prize car we already have).

3D is irrelevant to me as I do not possess a 3D TV and couldn't afford one, even if I wanted one
Data Logger is a useful tool and I may use it occasionally but analyzing replays to that level doesn't really excite me.
Online changes don't affect me as I don't race online
Customizable wings is not something that appeals to me as I got bored of that novelty playing Need For Speed....if the wings gave variable downforce/characteristics dependent on size etc, then I would be more interested
etc.

The only reason I am still playing this game is because I enjoy participating in the WRS and enjoy the community....if it wasn't for that, I would have shelved the game a couple of months ago. I am waiting for new content that makes me want to play the game beyond doing TTs with the WRS. I really was hoping this update would at least bring the February track and a new VGT but, alas, it did not happen. Now the waiting begins for next month

That's not really how I meant it, more that when you're a kid real driving is just a fantasy, you have cars on your bedroom wall and want to drive them. Games offer that a big thrill, especially if you drive with a steering wheel accessory and so perhaps you won't be upset or be annoyed by things that those people who do drive in real life experience.

To be honest, I gained a huge amount of car knowledge through two sources - the books that were force fed to me as a baby (apparently I used to watch WRC as a 3 year old and name every car to my relatives ), and Gran Turismo.

I don't doubt that, all I meant was some of us are at completely different stage of experience with Gran Turismo than younger players such as yourself. Again, it's not a slight on you but I think it is important to bear in mind when you see people having complaints and issues with the game.

In my opinion, you are playing the wrong game, motorsport as we know it is not recognised in the GT series.

But I like cars in general too, and their history. It's the blend that GT has.
