I noticed someone posted about leaving their PS4 in rest mode, DO NOT DO IT!!!!
I swear almost every time I have some sort of lobby issue, now it is still sporadic when it happens, but it seems to be much more frequent when it's left in rest mode. I don't know if any of the guys that are having issues do this, but it may be something to keep in mind.

I always turn mine off. I can’t risk a PS4 dying.

All I know is I use to leave mine on rest mode all the time now I have heating issues since I've started turning my ps4 completely off it has been alot better. Also I noticed once while my ps4 was in rest mode the fan sounded like it was about to take off and ps4 would not turn on like it froze at some point in rest mode and started over heating luckly no major damage but that's when I decided to start turning it completely off

I have never let my PS4 stay in rest mode the entire time I have owned it. Always a complete shutdown. For the reasons you explain right there. I do the same with all my computards and labtops.

I was watching a few streams while trying to find out how I spun out on lap 32. And heard that you're having issues with 2 PS4s on the same network.

Just to check for the following:
- Did you manually assign the IP addresses for the PS4 via the router settings?
- Did you setup the internet connection manually for each PS4?
- Any chance you tried connecting via a LAN cable with Cat 6 or better specs?
- Did the Speedtest check indicate any abnormalities?

I have an alternate theory where geographical location of the players may be taking a huge toll in the lobby's bandwidth. In this case, I might be theoretically one of the bigger causes due to huge distance of data travel across the globe.

I’m with you on the geography theory. It’s funny though because last season, @Kylan moved roughly 4 hours to his current home and his connection has been hit or miss since then. From what I can tell, he seems to be running the dailies just fine but that may be because we’re always matched up with people in our region. We’re both on the east coast.

I’m thinking it could also be a combination of him moving further from where his connection would’ve been at its strongest and the growing roster of ARL drivers from all over...in the US at least.

Hopefully last week was a 1 off with psn servers being down during the day and we have a better race this weekend. Idk if it's just me or not but before the race I'll restart my router 10 mins before I jump on line and then run a network test (idk why but it helped when I had connection issues with @Jw_wk1010)and so far I've been pretty good (knock on wood)

By the way, at the start of the race at Sardegna, how many racers do we have on the grid in lobby B? 12 or 13? I noticed my race photos there was an empty grid in the middle...my system recorded 12 starting cars.

I've never heard of such issues, been using Rest Mode for over an year. With occasional full shut down and reboot once every 2 weeks or so.

I think so too. My guess is probably due to back in the GT5 days on the ol' PS3, where I was often kicked out of the lobby if I'm in another regional room. Their explanation was due to some "bandwidth conservation" nonsense.

Something that helped my online gaming is using a separate channel on my router specifically for my PS4. It’s a higher frequency that is less prone to interference. Since I moved it’s no longer convenient to hardwire and I was having problems until I did this. My PS4 has its own channel while all my other devices are on another.

Great racing from everyone last weekend, there were a couple of  moments for me but overall pretty happy with the way the race went. I know we had issues this past weekend, but do not get discouraged, PD's servers just happened to screw us majorly and that caused a lot of grief and aggravation. These issues are not common for us, so as long as we keep working through it everything will be fine in the end. I know the BoD is working hard to implement a proper solution in case this ever happens again. I'd hate to have to be the one to tell someone they cannot race due to incompatibility, but sometimes there is no other option. One last thing to mention. Sometimes it comes to a point where we just need to keep our mouths shut, unfortunately I wasn't successful in the endeavor on Saturday. I know I got ticked off and probably said some things that didn't need to be said, so I apologize for that.

I know for sure my home network is set up well with a lot of customization on the router. This is mainly aimed for optimized performance across two frequencies that we use, mainly 2.4GHz and 5GHz. (I can grant or wreck my family member's network access at home lol)

However I still do not rule out my geographical distance from the other side of the world as a contributing factor that led to struggling of everyone's connection. To be frank, I noted quite a lot of cars "jittering" across the track on my replay during the last race.

But if it comes to an ultimatum that I shall not be able to partake in subsequent or future events, I might have to reconsider my position and also future opportunities.

@TurboTacho

I have tried uploading this replay 4 times now and it has failed ever time. Anyone else having that problem too?
OK I've never encountered that before, probably another shadow restriction that isn't even well documented or stated by the game or system.

Hmmm it's pretty fine if it doesn't work. Usually I'd just stream the replay and upload it to YouTube as a private video.

On the contrary, I think you should continue and look out for other opportunities as well *Insert IRS Series Information Here*. I honestly didn't see any issues from you on Saturday so you should be fine to continue. 👍
