Wow quite impressed now that I've finally gotten this mod installed. Looks very good on all the tracks I've driven so far. Special Stage Route 5 in particular looks phenomenal! New York looks great too! However, as good as Hong Kong looks, I'm getting these weird sparkle-like effects on the ground on certain parts of the track. Kind of like if you turned up your TV to max sharpness and you start seeing little specs or "sparkles". Any idea how to resolve this?
There is not much you can do about it. Higher resolution means some object will be too sharp. FXAA setting in Graphics Tab can help to reduce the effect.

Ahh got it. Thank you sir! Keep up the great work and looking forward to more progress :)

I am really enjoying the mod and it works perfectly, except for this one visual error that I haven't found anyone else talking about.
It only shows up in the race complete screen, sometimes the sprites showing competing racer's checkpoint times also produce incorrect sprites

I followed the Youtube guide and set up my settings the same as in that guide, is there something Im doing wrong, or a setting that can fix the error shown here? Thankyou

did you get this pnach to work? Idk if it interfered with one of my other settings or the code has an issue but it didn't remove HUD. All I got was a zoom in on the camera making game undrivable.

Sorry for late reply.

I'll post my pnach and make sure you have the right version of GT4

Hello everyone,
I am very excited to make my first post because it is something on making your game look better. Since PCSX2 has texture dumping and replacement feature, me and my friend Gtafan comitted to a project. The game textures are upscaled with the aid of AI and some textures have been redone manually with Photoshop and paint.net image editors. The cars and tracks now have way more detail and sharpness. Quite few cars have showroom quality wheels, brake discs, calipers and tyres. A few cars have accurate numberplates, driver names(some are redone as AI couldn't make a good job) and so on. The content is now finished. Upcoming releases will focus on fixing stuff.

The mod works in all GT4 variants and TT tracks just follow the installation proccess.
The mod does not affect performance unless you're close on VRAM limit. It can increase VRAM usage a bit.

IF YOU'RE A CONTENT CREATOR/AUTHOR AND USE 2.0+ PLEASE CREDIT MRCassidyART too for his contrubitions.

PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST TO SEE UPDATES

Requirements:
A PCSX2 1.7 build that supports texture replacements (the later the better)
Around 4GB of VRAM for 4x resolution (PCSX2 has very big VRAM leak and since this folder is very big it will cause severe slowdowns)
Lots of disk space. If you're having hard time with it, make the folder in another drive via PCSX2's folder settings. For example my emulator is in C but folder in D.

NOTE READ CAREFULLY: We are getting questions on crashing. Please turn off 'Mipmapping' and don't use Trilinear/Ultra options in Graphics Settings. If you use Vulkan make sure to dump VRAM before your first race by pressing F9 twice (preferably durin loading). These are not caused from our end.
THE UI IS NOT UPSCALED BECAUSE THEY DUPLICATE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE EFFECT PERMANENTLY VIDEO OF UI SITUATION

Upcoming:
  • Sky fixes on all tracks
  • Fixes on more cars if found

Gran Turismo 4 Retexture Mod version 2.0 CHANGELOG

Hi. New user, just getting into the scene. I was wondering is there anyway to get a new tutorial video using the new UI of PCSX2 nightly build? Because my UI doesn't look like the one in the video and some of those graphical options are not available or moved in the new UI and I've played with some settings and while it looks great, it stutters horribly

This was a potentially good mod that is ruined by the anachronistic billboard textures. Realism goes further than just texture fidelity. Upscaling the original billboards instead of just putting in random new advertisements that fit your personal headcanon would have gone a long way towards period correctness, towards player immersion, and towards retaining the original 2000s atmosphere of the base game.

I think It's a bit harsh to call it ruined because of that. It is your standards that assume this should be some kind of historical restauration that's bound to absolute period correctness.
Like you, I prefer when a texture mod is faithful to the original art direction. But chasing "realism" is overrated imo, as well as sacralising the past. It is a virtual world, an interactive medium that you, the player, are not experiencing in the 2000s but in 2023, maybe on different hardware with all kind of tweaks, maybe with a different controller. But your immersion gets broken by passing by a billboard that wasn't intended by the original developer at 200mph? It seems that it is your own strict headcannon that gets in the way of your immersion.
My very subjective opinion on this is that the experience I'm getting today using emulation, upscaling, shaders, mods, is different from what I got years ago, and that's ok. It is, in fact, a very current experience, not a past one. And this version in 2023 I'm playing is the result of the work of way more people than just the original devs, and we should recognize their work too. Devs get their name on the credits, it's ok in my book if a modder gets a custom non intrusive billboard as an easter egg. It's still immersive, in a space larger than the original work that's all.
I know this is a long ranty response, but I'm not sure you see how dismissive your critique can be in the face of the many hours of free work put in a project like this, with the people making it actually stating it was a concious choice to put something personal to them in it. If you play this version, that's fully and legitimately part of it's history, and it is your right to not like it. But you're not entitled to what you think it should be.
Now with that said, I'm all for player choice, and if the people who made this pack decided to provide a version with original upscaled billboards and another with the "easter egg" billboards, i could only applaude the feature, even tho i'd rather use their "original vision" (more immersive to me hehe). I would absolutely be saddened if they took down their own inclusions cuz of comments like this.
Full disclosure here, I'm not even using the mod myself in my current playthrough, as I find the reflections on the cars to be choppier in HD than on a blurry texture, and the remaining artifacts to be too distracting. I'll keep tryin to tweak settings around to see if I find a satisfying setup, and I'm looking forward to future updates.

I updated the PCSX2 to the latest nightly today.
Since i did that i'm unable to load the textures.
Is anybody experiencing this to?
On version 1.7.4069 it works fine for me on single player modes, I set a hotkey to toggle texture loading and I can see the difference. However, I just found out that arcade 2 players mode doesn't seem to work with the texture pack, as well as being interlaced despite setting 480p ingame. Is this behavior normal ?

2 player mode probably uses different textures as its a lower graphics for hardware to be able to run

The install instructions are not clear in my eyes:

'...don't extract it to the pack's directory immediately because some textures are in folders and if you extract those folders they won't take effect.'

So I'm not supposed to unzip the 'fixes2' folder to 'replacements' and I'm not supposed to unzip 'ferrari f2004' to 'replacements'... What should I do then?

if you want to use the textures inside the folders(like the f2004) , go in those folders and extract from there to replacements

i dont feel like it is outdated we didnt put a time limit on it
that's weird, I tried both the GDrive and Mega files and neither open when I copy-paste the password

edit: nevermind, i'm dumb. had to select "apply to all", it was prompting a password input for every single file inside the zip

Extracting the files from the zip it freezes me at about 21% then it gives me an error, I'm extracting them on a usb stick is a problem according to you (it is formatted exFat)

Gran Turismo 4 Retexture Mod version 2.2 CHANGELOG
Changes and fixes:
  • Fixed big alpha issues on some cars like Citroen 2cv, 787b and Minolta
  • Ferrari F2004 included in a folder (it will replace some parts on other colors too but red one will be F2004 in relatively close distance -LOD stuff)
  • Warsteiner CLK-GTR in a folder

Upcoming:
  • Sky fixes on all tracks
  • Fixes on more cars if found

The 2.2 doesnt have a password but don't extract it to the pack's directory immediately because some textures are in folders and if you extract those folders they won't take effect. Anyway, ill remove the anachronism on Tokyo R246 some time and make an optional update later. I also ignored this too much because modding the game internally is more fun.

Hi. I'm sorry if someone already asked this but since there's so many files available now, I'm confused on how to implement the updates. Do I add the full pack to the replacement textures and then add the update textures within that Full pack replacement folder? Do I have multiple replacement folders in the textures folder? Does it matter? I'm new to this.
