The Time Attack Challenge is a series that has gone through numerous variations on several games and, since quite a few people still play GT4 I thought I'd bring it back now that I've gotten a new PS2 and a new copy of GT4.

Attempts should ideally be undertaken in the time trial section of arcade mode

All rounds will be posted before 12:00 GMT on Monday and will end at 22:00 GMT on Sunday.

As always proof must be provided of all lap times in the form of either a screenshot of the lap time (which can be accompanied by a video of the replay if desired)

To start things of, I thought we'd begin with the Mazda RX-8 Type S, the fastest version of Mazda's final sports car, around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

How long would this challenege last?
Deadline for each round is 22:00 GMT on the Sunday, so 6 days for this since I only made the thread today, but every round afterwards will be posted on the Monday before 12:00 GMT and will last for the full 7 days.

Edit: Edited the OP so it hopefully contains all the info anyone will need to set a time and how to post it.

Edit 2: I will really try to make this last longer than all the previous renditions have. Just got a new PS2 and copy of GT4 so I will be participating in each round and there is really no shortage of cars or tracks so hopefully this will last a good while, although how long I keep going with this will really depend on the kind of interest this series creates.

I had no idea that there would be a return... I hope that I will be able to do that, as my controller has some little issues. But I'll see what I can do, as I'm interested. 👍

I didn’t either until I was playing GT4 earlier and was reminded of this series. Hopefully I’ll be able to make this last a little longer than my previous attempts at this.

I'm glad the time attacks returned once again.
I really liked it when we were still running it in Gran Turismo 3. I'm 100% in, the university priorities may not allow me to compete in all rounds though. Still very interested, time to dust off the PS2 once again. ;)

No need to worry about participating in every round. I’m actually debating an alternative points system that will allow everyone to compete for top points even if they aren’t participating in every round, which I may run alongside the standard points system

Next round is now live, this time featuring the latest addition to GT Sport and Toyota’s latest and greatest sports car, it’s the Toyota Supra RZ!

Take this Japanese legend around the iconic Fuji Speedway in its classic 90’s layout, a very high Speed Circuit with a newly added chicane at the final turn.

Nice! What specs should we use for the Supra? Max BHP and lowest weight, or completely stock?

For all rounds it’s the max that quick tuning allows.

Wish I could check what that was for the Supra but my GT4 disc stopped working so I can’t.

Because of that I may be out for a round or two but I’ll still keep the TAC going.

For all rounds it’s the max that quick tuning allows. The top bhp of the rx8 is 340bhp. although i ran my lap with 335bhp and the reply showed 336bhp and theres not much difference at all from 340 and 335bhp. I'll get a few laps tomorrow cool

Did some laps got 1'34.162 this track reminds of the IA 3 License,i found frustrating and did a while to get gold. Did some more laps got down to 1'33.544 that's the best a can get for know.

Bad News: My Memory Card that have %96 Save game and years of playing got corrupted and forced me to reformat it. Thankfully i have the save backed up on my PC and now on Dropbox thanks to dumping the files from the PS2 to my USB Stick.

Sorry for the delay (for some reason I stopped getting notifications about this thread) but the third round is now live.

This time we have a German sports legend and the iconic Trial Mountain circuit.

Note: The car for this is the standard M3, not the CSL or GTR.
