Yeah, I know, hence why I said I was joking :P

lol i read that as "im being serious" haha. my hope for the test track is standing starts for hot laps, so i can beat that jay kay in the lacetti. And free play on the whole airfield.

sidenote, i think it would be cool if Kazunori Yamauchi was a star in the reasonably priced car. would just be a bit odd to have the translator there

Guys I just thought of something about the Top Gear Test Track. When the Stig puts in lap times of various cars, he does so using a standing start. How are we meant to try and beat the Stig's lap times with a rolling start? That would mean we have the advantage because we are already going past the start line at some speed. We need a Standing Start! If we don't then the Top Gear track wont be as fun as I thought :(

Maybe we'll have standing starts for the TG track? Or it won't be part of the time trial but something else TG related altogether. Or maybe Kaz didn't think we'd care about the Power Lap times, which is ver very wrong.
very nice! And a very complex thing...
but... SKIDMARKS? Why did you spend ages on smoke physics, and you didn't spend just a few hours on how the skidmarks are generated? A few things: drift angle, tire composition (hard/soft) and... pressure?
If the complicated engine can calculate real smoke... why can't it calculate skidmarks?
That's incredible :)

shut up, please.

Sebastien Loeb said:

"Coming to this wonderful game presentation, it feels so great. It is a very very realistic game, a pleasure to play it.i made world tour with it, the feeling of the car is very realistic, the car in game responds very well to the real, so it's interesting."

im not very good at French.. :D

Or how about cars who had wet or damp laps?:nervous::scared:

shut up, please.

come on... I think that smoke is 1000 times more important than skidmarks! However... you know that almost every racing game in the past 10 years, I think, has skidmarks! So that's just a little thing that I think Polyphony is able to do, even with a small amount of time and developers work

However, I really hope we will get Stig times for time trials!

Looks...new.

Posted a day or so back. But GT Auto is there...nice to see. And that guy has 35,000,000 credits!

My biggest question:

Why does it say "Merlot" in the top left. Pretty sure that is a region in France.

Hint at having a home base of sorts?

I think it looks fairly funky, all dealers back in one place, which is better than country, I think.

And also, the thing I am interested in is the "Special" icon

Looks like his name if you ask me. Either that, or he's a wine fan.

That's what I am thinking since it is right above a avatar picture. Maybe we will be able to take a picture of our faces with the playstation eye camera and put it into our avatar picture. That would be a pretty neat feature.

Yea you guys may be right. It does make sense that he would have his name above the avatar.

Besides isn't it Kaz who stores wine in his Server Cooler? Maybe its a nod to that.

Oh yeah, they're gonna need servers, won't they. I guess that's what GT4 Online was about and the online mode in GT5P. Bet you anything, though Kaz is using PS3 Servers. Some of the best servers you can use. In fact, the worlds fastest supercomputer has a bunch of PS3s hooked up to it.

"Making Real Tire Smoke"....
the new smoke effects is very nice and way better than gt5 prologue, maybe the only bad thing is that smoke should be last longer in the air.

However... read that small article about smoke:
"Gran Turismo 5’s advanced physics engine calculates and simulates the surface temperature of the tires. This is applied to the basic principle of how tires generate smoke, and allows for the production of accurate and realistic tire smoke in the game."

very nice! And a very complex thing...

While impressive it strikes me putting the cart beore the horse... You spend a lot of time on smoke, miss out entirely on skid marks and leave a bunch of cars looking half ass... :dunce:

Perhaps. But it's PD's game and they can do what they like.

And that makes the result better how?

BTW it's a product PD and Sony are trying to sell... when you are trying to make a product which sells "I can do what I want" often has it's caveats.

Has it occured to you that some of us might be more interested in photographing our cars rather than marvelling at the interiors.

Look I love photomode as much as the next guy, but trading photomode locations for car detail?

So you get ugly tinted window cars with no interior view for 80% of the game, but you get nice photomode locations... in which to shoot those ugly cars...

If you are a graphics whore and eye candy is your top desire I guess it makes sense, but to the racing fand it hardly does.

I can always count on you to throw water balloons at GT fans, Dev. ;)

Anyway, I don't know about you, but when I was playing Forza, I only stared at those skidmarks to watch them disappear. I also used Photo Mode sparingly in FM2 because the results weren't always that great. I was really surprised at how often I wondered why the shots looked about as good as GT4 with a few more polys. Some were great, but the quality was strangely inconsistent.

In FW3, I quit doing anything because not only did the hassle of uploading pics to the Forza site ruin them, with the file system bogging so badly, it took more than FOUR HOUS once just to get a pic uploaded! Crap, I can do the same thing in GT4 in less than a half hour, including watching the replays for shoot opportunities because the Playstations have this arcane, little understood thing known as a USB port, which amazingly, so does my PC!

Maybe Turn 10 should drop Photo Mode, and Polyphony keep it, so you can crow about how much better Forza is. ;)

And in how many of those games did skidmarks affect the cars's physics when going over them? If they're just gonna put them in just for aesthetics, I say they should spend their time working on more crucial things.

As he promised me Darin asked PD Producer the right question about the cockpit view he did not get the right answer though here is Darin's email to me:

Darin Gangi to me

Looks like they will not have cockpits. I specifically asked the "Associate Producer" we interviewed and he wouldn't give us a specific comment. I also went to the break out session and they mentioned the premiums would have interiors and standards they didn't say wouldn't, but didn't say that they would.

Not looking good though at the moment for the 800 standard cars.. I will try to get a definite answer from my Sony rep..

Sorry but why do u people believe this half *** Darin Gangi ?

also they wouldn't give us a specific comment, because maybe they are thinking of introducing Cockpit views in these standard cars.

Bit too late for this now...

ha 35,000,000 and he drives a Ford Focus 06. Didn't know the recession is reflected in the game hope I'm not going to have to pay 1 Trillion credits for that Bugatti.
