I really didn't mean to seem rude, I think completely the opposite way about this thread. I was calling the update useless because it basically did exactly the same thing as 2.12: it removed the 'realistic' hacks (stage 4/5 parts) but the ridiculous HP and interdimensional coloured cars are still around... it's starting to get a bit silly.

Oh ok. I am very sorry for assuming. Just has been a long day. I will edit my post. Please forgive me for that.

About time the hacked parts gotten removed. Now PD, finish the job removing the 3000hp Civics...

A tip for those who want to rescue their car weight (or turbo power or anything), you should still be able to reset the upgrade code to stock code in garage editor, if you do that on all your settings sheets it should remove the part altogether from the car. For example if you got weight reduction stage 3 installed, had stage 5 on it, and now it's stock weight, reset the weight reduction line to FFs on all sheets and it should let you install weight reductions starting from stock weight again.

That's just an assumption I couldn't try yet though.

Note: The default code on a lot of stock parts is just an FF line, but on some parts like the turbo each car has its own unique line which you could copy from the stock car database included in the editor.

Well there go all my realistic drag cars:ouch:

A shame that real cars get patched.

My 500 hp 99 DC2 10.99s real
460 hp civic ek and eg Real
1081 hp Supra REAL!

Just a few to be named.

Why go through the trouble of Garage Editor or HxD to reset weight? Just go into the tuning menu and select/install the Stage 3 weight reduction again. This worked on all my cars that had Stage 4/5 weight reduction and reset to factory weight. It showed I owned the part, just needed to "re-install" it to the car.

I see this update as a very good thing, and they need to do even more to combat hacking/exploiting in the online community.

I may not be the fastest driver/tuner out there, but I am not terribly slow either, and it has become very common to be out drove by similar cars by 10 seconds a lap. 2,3,4, even 5 seconds I can attribute to me being slow, but 10+ seconds, when I race against drivers who I know are fast in leagues, is a little obvious, and it hurts the game. It will make people not want to play.

I hope in GT6 they have a clearly defined EULA, more hacking/exploiting protection, and ban any who they find are usurping that protection from online access. If you want to hack/exploit in your own single player experience that is perfectly fine, just do not do it online.

My only question to PD, is what was the point of putting these hidden parts in the game to begin with, if all they were going to do is yank them away from the community? With GT6 on the horizon, and GTAcademy trials taking place, is it that crucial to PD to take away pieces of the game THEY put in it?

The parts were not "in the game" in the sense, that people were not supposed to be able to access them. They are not yanking them away from the community or the game, they are fixing something that you were never intended to have access to to begin with, most of which you could not have access to with out directly modifying game files from a external source.

If PD just made all the hidden parts available to everyone via this update they could've called it GT5 2.5 & everyone would've been happy. They're there anyway, why not let us all enjoy them? So stupid...

1. Terms of service, unfair advantage, blah blah blah you get the idea.

2. They're unfinished and not ready for gameplay.

EDIT: Does no one have common sense? or read the Terms of Service?

That's a bit contradicting, I can understand where you're coming from but if they weren't ready at all then we shouldn't be able to install those parts in the first place.

Gosh I love PD logic, removing realistic vehicle mods and keeping the crazy HP cars instead

+1000 if everyone had them it would have been an even playing feild.

Tisk, tisk. Too bad PD is too busy working on GT6 now, so mind as well let all that go and forget about it. :dopey: I know it hurts but, theres no point in working on those IMO.

The sad truth right here. R.I.P. hidden parts. You will definitely be missed. Maybe we'll see the return of some of these parts in GT6? Only time will tell.
My FTO Super Touring Car, which HAD 635HP thanks to a Stage 4 turbo, is now keeled over crying in my garage. :(

Here is what happened for me-
ALL color hacked cars retain color
ALL hidden parts are accessable
Any car that had weight reduction stage 4, 5, drivetrain or super turbo part is reset to stock.

I'll give you props, PD. I was hoping you wouldn't do it, but you found out how(well, mostly).

That's actually the only part i was concerned about. I did have a few stage 5 turbo cars but i only did those conversions to change the exhaust note.

I believe they could have done that, however the wonky side effects of adding some of those parts to some cars may have scared them away from trying to work them in, if that was their intention at all.

My prediction turned out to be mostly wrong. Strangely enough though, I just tried it and it didn't work at Kart Space I (I couldn't enter track selection at all), but worked at London and even Motegi West. Is it possible that was their method of apologising for removing additional parts?

Well, sort of. They're still pushing patches and hack preventions so they're not solely busy on GT6. Guess there's a separate team though. Still, they should give everyone all parts and call it a day.

I miss 1000hp R34s.

Everyone's upset that PD didn't release the parts to the public. The way I see it, though, that could've been near-suicide for PD. After the GTA4/Hot Coffee incident, dummied-out code (the hidden parts) is something that developers have realized they need to keep a tight leash on. Now, yes, they have given us things in the past, like the standard interior views, but those were merely cosmetic. With the hidden parts, they may be functional, and we may know they work, but we don't really know that they're working "properly". With PD's reputation on the line for quality, and with GT6 on the horizon, I highly doubt that they have the time or manpower to expend testing the parts with every car that could equip them to make sure they are functioning properly.

I can confirm that some minor changes have been done too. As I mentioned in the news section, the Mustang Trans-Cammer now backfires correctly. Not sure if this was fixed previously though, since it's been a while I haven't touched that car.

I'm glad that PD still fixes some minor details like these. In the past update they finally fixed the Jaguar XKR's rear bumper too. I'm still waiting on the Viper ACR's and the Corvette C3's speedometer to work properly though. And also a sound fix on the Viper GTS.

If not, then it's fine. I can wait for these fixes until GT6.

You didn't just try and relate simulated sex to car parts did you? Those things could not be further from each other. No mother is going to be upset about a bigger turbo.

All the parts are are percentage modifiers. You take the base horse power which is 100%, then anything past 100% is what is added. So an intake may be 106%, a low level turbo could be 122% and a higher up turbo could be 186%. So all those parts will work fine.

Great find man. I know they do other things in updates with little information, then we find them out as we play. Nice find.

I'll check it out myself in a bit, then add it to the OP. Nice to see things like this being discovered, instead of what they took away. 👍 man.

So I just want to make sure before I update the OP.
The ridiculously powered cars are confirmed gone, or still there?

If you guys find anything else be sure to post it here (good or bad).

Also I have found after the update the most of my cars, have their transmissions reset/messed up (both hybrids and none hybrids). Anyone else have this problem? It might just be a glitch on my end though.

Also can you still paint cars? I will be online later to see if it is still possible.
