Gran Turismo 5 Zonda R breaking Nurburgring Nordschleife 's lap record

This is tribute to creators of Pagani Zonda R car, which couple of months ago set a new lap record for production cars around Nurburgring Nordschleife race track with stunning time: 6'47.5s.

You can watch this lap here:

Some more info:
http://www.sacarfan.co.za/tag/pagani-...

My video is a replay from Gran Turismo 5 PS3 game. Please watch in HD.

To set my laptime I've used completely stock Zonda R car with Racing Soft tyres. Absolutely no modifications done whatsoever. My laptime: 6'30.044

Same as in real Zonda R car, I've used 740bhp 6.0 L AMG V12, 524 ft·lbf (72.4 kgfm) of torque, 1070kg of weight. All aids off (ASM off, TCS off, ABS off), 6 speed manual sequential gearbox (paddle shift).

Racing wheel used - Logitech G25.

Recorded using X10 mobile phone :(

Thanks for watching

Nice lap:tup:

Zonda R is in the Arcade TT mode, could I run this in Arcade TT using the same tyres or did you buy it in GT mode?

I'm not sure how Arcade mode works, never used it yet. I've got Zonda R in GT Mode and this lap was done in Practice section.

Thanks! 👍

Did you get the trophy or unlock or whatnot for beating the laptime by doing it in practice mode or do you have to be in arcade mode to do that?

I don't think there's a trophy for this. he's just doing a tribute to a real lap. All the trophies are known now. I'm not a trophy hunter by the way.

Nissan GT-R 07 has a trophy for beating the real lap in the Arcade TT.

In couple of days I should have proper HD PVR, so I will re-record both of my personal challenges, create a separate thread and re-post them 👍

That would be great. Although I would think Racing Soft (in GT5) is a bit too grippy to properly simulate the Pirelli PZero Slicks used by the Zonda R when it did the 6:47. Medium or Hard would probably be closer in GT5.

Rqcing soft tyres aren't street lagal ,they're racing tyres. The Zonda R would use S3 tyres. Then again, the Zonda R isn't exactly a street legal car. According to Pagani, it is, but not the rest of us. So you may be fine. Would've used R1 tyres though for a more realistic comparison though.

Good lap anyway 👍

I don't think Pirelli PZero Slick is S3. It's an actual racing compound- it's used at this years Rolex/Grand-Am series by both the Daytona Protoype and GT race cars. But because of its durability and Green performance (HAOF- Highly aromatic-oil free), I doubt that it's racing soft but like I said earlier might be closer to Racing Hard than it is to Racing Soft in GT5. BTW, here's Pirelli's Press release regarding Zonda R record at Nurburgring: Press Release

Since I haven't bought the game (I would but I can't afford a PS3 at the moment), I'm wondering if PD included in GT5 as they did in GT5P (via the in-game manual) a list of recommended tires for real world performance for each of the cars.

I think this photo says it all. Those ARE racing tyres and I don't think they are street legal lol

Good point about hard vs soft tyres. I might re-do the whole lap at some point :)

I love this track. I just got to level 16, is the practice Nurburgrin Nordschleife still lock? **edit** (I haven't finished the entire AMG Special Event. Put that next on the to do list)
I would love to practice the last 1/3 of the course, high speed corners, is killing me. I need to watch other people drive it also.

AMG special event is a very good place to start learning Nurburging Nordschleife. God only knows how many laps I did on that track in total (1000s?) but am not even close to be the Ultimate Ring King :)

did a 6.16 lap online standing start with a small battle with a minolta, video coming as soon as i figure out how to change to cockpit view :S

My Zonda R was completely stock, only changed tyres to racing soft. I'm sure I could go a lot quicker if I fully tune the car.

I did a quick run when I got the Zonda R at stock with race soft tyres and got about 6:15 6:16, no standing start though.

Then changed to medium tyres and got a 6:25.

Maybe using sport soft would take you to a more realistic pace.

Medium Tyres. It was just a rough lap for the video. I like how the interior replay angle kinda matches the real video. With half an hour of practice I'm sure it can be much lower time.

Great lap Chromatic9! 👍

I never claimed my Zonda R lap is the best you can get. Clearly it is not! I was only tring to beat real Zonda R time round Nordchleife.

Stock Zonda R + Sports Soft tyres? Sounds like a challange!

that guy is insane!!! Really i was scared for his life :D

amazing driving skill, imagine his heartbeat... and the curve before the carussel he was very close to loosing the car but he countered so fast and accurate...

he must have driven at least 100 laps for real :D

They have only manage 1 (!) lap with Zonda R after which the car broke.

Cheers.

Just had a go on Sport Soft and got a 6:35 on my third lap. First lap was 6:38. Could get more time off but feel its best to do a cold lap without exploiting the game and racing ghosts etc.

Nice one! I've tried yesterday too, but there was a bit too much whisky in my system and I could not complete a lap :dunce:

just watched your lap now rebel, and i must say it was really slow :P
your entry speed was way slow and you were to late on the gas in every corner. you start breaking before corners you can do at full speed and if that was pushing hard for you i can understand you dont believe i did a 6.16 online with stock car, battle with other cars and standing start.

if anyone can tell me how to change to cockpitview in replay mode ill upload a video

I've never said that I don't belive you nor I claimed you can't go faster in Zonda R, all I did was I asked you was that stock Zonda R or tuned.

Besides if your lap was done in race remember that slipstreaming can affect the laptime i.e. you can go faster.

I don't play online, but read that you can't change to cockpit in online replay.

Well a 6:16 is easily done. Sub 6:00 is possible I'm sure. Race soft tyres allow for some crazy cornering and no-one is going to be maxing out the grip with just a couple of laps.

More of a challenge and fairly realistic pace is on sport tyres.

Another flaw in GT5 if people want to compete with times (which this thread isn't btw) is how to prove you car weight/performance and parts/settings, there is none.

This thread and idea behind my lap was not about the quickest lap possible (as you mentioned as well). I did not even try to go as quickly as possible. All I wanted is to beat real life Nordschleife Zonda R record. I managed that quite quickly and moved to other things (like having fun in stock F40 round Nordschleife). I know I could go quicker.

The idea behind running couple of laps using Sports tyres is far more interesting to me. I like a little bit of challenge and will definitely try that. I really like when back end of the car steps out and I have to correct it. Racing soft tyres are way too grippy and you can carry rediculous speed into corners.

I will post my lap using sport tyres soon (hopefully recorded using my new HD camcorder which is stuck for a week now in some depot due to the weather).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liMOyWT9nKo heres the video of the 6.05.745 time

Nice one
