I just hope all cars look good and the 434 cars you mentioned have cockpit view.

In GT5 I have more than 750 cars but not sure how many I actually used. Probably will make it to 1000 though before GT6 and get the trophy. Thanks to seasonal events to earn money quick. But I do not see the point of having so many cars and duplicates.

As a rough guess I'd say getting rid of the silly/regional dupes would give us about 1000 cars in GT6 with differences between them. Being a bit stricter with similar model years that would go down to 800-900, so hardly a small number and still way beyond any of the competition!

however the duplication is, i am sadden by the fact that they still haven't put the E30 in the game... this car means something to europeans and americans who like euro cars... this car is unanimously praised for it's driving characters, should be part of the game, so is the E36.... E21 too... :(

... going back to my corner to cry...

Wow, way to cut on the miatas--do they really all look alike to you?

There are three major generations and each has had minor facelifts (current gen is in its third). Additionally different markets got some pretty different engines. For example the US currently only gets 2.0L engines where UK only gets 1.8L.

But there are dupes, and personally, I'm largely okay with them. If PD wants to take a JP car, switch the steering wheel to the other side, tweak the specs, and call it the US model, I'm fine with that. I think there is a feeling that there is as much work put into these dupes as there is in totally different cars. "oh if they didn't put so many miatas/skylines in they would have had time for _________." To some extent that is true, but not for the ones that we'd probably consider real duplicates. (minimal or entirely non-visual tweaks)

OK, I've made up my mind.

If I'm ever in charge of a racing game, I'm going to include every J-car ever. See if people defend those duplicates the way they defend the millions of similar Skylines.

Yes, the OP did sort of go too far, but there are a lot of cars that are too similar to be worth including over a significantly different, completely omitted car.

I can tell that this list is a joke before looking at it.
GT5 had 220 premium cars(NOT including DLC or X1's)(and of course this includes RM's; why wouldn't it? they drop 1000 pounds)
GT6 has 123 more premium cars, bringing the total to 346.
You're trying to tell me there's only 90 standard cars that aren't duplicates?

GT6 does not have 434 cars, it has over 1200 cars.

Actually it has 1196 at this point. But you're missing the point. By removing all the dupes that number easily comes down to under 1000. Obviously the OP took the number too far, but I think it's somewhere around 800 actual different cars.

I was bored and decided to make my own cuts and I ended up with 842. I put it in a .txt file if anyone wants to see.

I would be happy if they only had premium cars in GT6 and leave the standards in 5. They can then focus on filling any obvious gaps in thier line up. 434 does seem to be a bit of a excessive cull, but it was a good idea and sorting them out.

So 1/3 of the cars are pointless. And how many of the leftover 2/3 is standard models

There are some really good standard cars both in looks and fun to drive. GT6 has lots of cars to interest anyone. Close to 350 premium. They know most people use only handful of cars so I do not understand why they bother for 1000 cars.

Best to ignore him. He's awfully upset with GT6 at the moment.

What "they know" is what you do not. You do not know that "most people only use a few cars" even though you claim to. I can only speak for my group when I say many of us try and use as many of the cars in the game as possible.

What I do know is that to me FM5 seems a much less attractive game than FM4 with only 200 cars and 14 tracks. It's a shame as I was seriously considering getting an xbone just for fm5 but that along with the ludicrous lack of compatibility with wheels makes it a no go for me. Forza could have had me, but thanks to an over strict upgrade policy and awful decisions by X box bosses, they haven't.

All of the standard cars that people want removed from gt6 can effectively be removed by the user from the game using the stockyard part of the garage.

Some of the premium cars do count as duplicates, in both games.

At the same time others aren't the exact same but shouldn't count too, for example RMs.

Edit: It will have a day one DLC with 10 cars, LaFerrari included, and then 5 more DLC´s (one per month) making in total 60+ cars after release. So the full list will have 262.

I think there are a lot of cars missing but this is the way to do it, not variations of the same thing in the very same year if the car looks the same (though I would love to see a gasoline and a diesel version of some).

I won´t get XBONE or Forza 5, but you have to give it to them that the car list is brilliant so far. Lot´s of cars (if not all) that you really want to drive.
