As far as I'm aware, part of that 200car/14track content is included in the day1 patch. Would be awesome if there was stuff on top of that.

Forza 5 will have a day one DLC with 10 cars LaFerrari included and then 5 more DLC´s. (one per month) In total they will add 60 more cars into the game. So you buy the game for 60/70 and then pay 50 for the season pass so you can get all DLC´s. If not by buying each DLC alone it will cost you even more. (like buying 2 games)

The Mazda MX-5's are the same model, but different versions. There are also different generations (3 if I remember correctly). Not the same car.

Three generations and at least one significant change in-generation, as the NA went from a 1.6L to a 1.8L engine with a ~10% bump in power output. I don't have the familiarity with the NB or NC to identify similar in-generation changes.

What "they know" is what you do not. You do not know that "most people only use a few cars" even though you claim to. I can only speak for my group when I say many of us try and use as many of the cars in the game as possible.

What I do know is that to me FM5 seems a much less attractive game than FM4 with only 200 cars and 14 tracks. It's a shame as I was seriously considering getting an xbone just for fm5 but that along with the ludicrous lack of compatibility with wheels makes it a no go for me. Forza could have had me, but thanks to an over strict upgrade policy and awful decisions by X box bosses, they haven't.

All of the standard cars that people want removed from gt6 can effectively be removed by the user from the game using the stockyard part of the garage.

They know because via servers when you login to PSN. They can get that information.

Forza 200 cars are not bad but the tracks and variety is pathetic. Next gen consoles and no variable changes in lighting and weather is epic fail. No right racing too and they have the amazing yas marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. Also 16 cars for 10 lap race is less.

I thought it was something Dan the Man said about not delaying the game by making extra stuff available as a day one download to sidestep bug testing before committing to Gold.

I don't have a link & I can't remember where I heard it so I could be wrong.

Funny how Forza will take out most of its cars and charge you guys later for it. Plus Forza won't have Nuriburgring at day 1 either, the most ionic track in the world, wonder if he will charge you for that.
