Hey guys can someone explain to me about the length of nurburging nordschleife in gt6, it says 20.8km on the screen before the run. The IRL nurburging lap time we are referring to is 20.6km?

The IRL Nordschleife lap times by Sport Auto are 20.6km because a section of track is super-low speed to allow traffic to pass, and so it's not considered part of the lap.
This 230m section is part of the lap on race days, and therefore the racing version of the Nordschleife as seen in GT, is 20.83km.

As a rule of thumb, you tag 17 seconds onto the end of your 20.6km run and that's your 20.83km lap time.
And yes, this means that Vag Gomez is either the world's greatest driver, beating records by 20sec plus 17sec - or GT6 tyres are way too good...

Interesting thread this one and also showing the issues with too much grip in GT6. I've done something similar, but not quite, with Willow Springs - Big Willow. I've used CM tyres on all cars. The Viper SRT laptime done on CM is quite interesting as it sort of contradicts "Fast cars like the Viper sureley use Sports soft or better" mentality. Link here:

1. Not true and misleading, I am afraid. Most (if not all) published official lap timings at Nordschleife are performed with the track closed to public and therefore there is no special low speed section. The otherwise correct rule of thumb of 17 seconds, applies only in open to traffic laps.
The videos of the "epic" lap times, published on YouTube, prove that what "they" drive in real-life, during official timing, is what "you" drive in GT4, GT5 and GT6:
Pagani Zonda R - 2008 Nissan GTR - 2012 Corvette ZR1 - BMW M3 E92 - Subaru WRX STI -
Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition - PORSCHE 918 - etc.

2. Not true. Far from it, actually... (thanks, anyway!)

3. True. That is a useful conclusion. GT6 new physics make you a far "better" driver than you actually are! (which is rather disappointing for a "true simulator"...)

I for one have to disagree that they are too grippy... Can anyone in here properly take an R10 around the chicanes at Le Mans at 100 mph. Now be that aero or tires, both of them I think are heavily skewed because they haven't actually got the chance to test multi million dollar cars as such, so when we do have full aero and RS tires on, is this really simulating the performance, or is it skewed?

Sounds incredible! I know the track really well now in GT5 and GT6. Must have driven it over 200 times I think. Have you driven it in GT5 and/or GT6 as well, or just in GT4? How was it to drive it in the real world compared to the game? Was it as you expected, if indeed you had any expectations?

Well the real track feels less bumpy than in GT4, that was the biggest thing I noticed. I practiced for about a solid month using GT4 and a Logitec wheel, memorizing the track. IRL, they have you queue up for the next lap about halfway down the straight, so you can't get up to super high speeds there. I hit 220kph before I felt uncomfortable in a rental car. But don't get me wrong, I pushed for the laps I had. After the first lap, the tires were smoking! That or the brakes, I'm not sure, but something was. We let the car cool down and walked around. The fastest cars there were the Gymballah (sp?) Porsches. I got passed by one of those on a 2-lane road near the track; he was flying.

I managed to get in a great battle with a Volvo S60 which is a pretty fair match for the rented Merc I had. But I did manage to pass a Caterham! But he didn't know the track...

Got a 8:04.9 in the E92 M3 (Bought straight from dealer, no mods)
I've done faster laps in that car in stock form (In the 7 minute mark) but when driving sensibly and behaving as if I was actually in the vehicle, I got the above time.

I feel that "STOCK form" might be a problem of a lot quicker lap times. I am pretty sure, that SH (which comes stock on most of the performance cars) are much grippier than RL. As for myself, the first thing I do when I buy the car, I change the tyres to Comfort Softs or Mediums.
In GT5 Comfort tyres meant pretty much insta-understeer, but in GT6 even Comforts got enough grip. That being said, I have hotlapped two clean laps with Aventador and 458 and my times were just 2 seconds off-slower. I am not a pro or anything, but I think I am pretty decent.
So my suggestion for all of you guys - change the tyres to something more real lifeish :) As far as I am concerned, Sport Hards are Toyo R888 equivalent, which are semi-slicks..
