Gran Turismo 7 “April” Update Content Predictions…

What I expect is very little. Just fixes and tweaks, perhaps even an easing of the economy to be a little more generous, along with those missing menu books. I hope all of us can count to 39. ;)

What I want to see are some GT6 cars "future proofed" again, maybe seven, and more events. Specifically, more lucrative events, and which deliver '90s - today's era sports cars as prizes. Also, fixing the Roulette Tickets to not be so chintzy, as well as some improvements to the Livery Editor.

Did you want cynical, wishful, or probable? I'll let you guess which of these are cynical and which are probable:

  • The elimination of Remote Play
  • Some more pandemic-priced cars, mostly in the used-car section (with neither an increase in the number of cars offered at a time nor an increase in frequency of stock updates)
  • A couple of new events...that won't pay any better on a per-minute basis than the current median
  • The Daytona truck race payout nerfed by at least 50%
  • The first over-20,000,000 Cr. cars
  • The 20,000,000 Cr. cap lifted...only to the extent you pay real-world money for credits (complete with any earned credits while over the 20 million cap wasted effort)
  • A new 20,000,000 Cr. for $50 (or your local currency equivalent) MTX (though the $50 price tag probably qualifies as wishful thinking; it probably won't be less than $99.99)
Edit - Glad to be (mostly) wrong, and most of what I wasn't wrong about is actually a positive.

I don't give a flying duck about content until the economy is fixed, I can't enjoy the content already in the game anyway. What good does it do me if 10 new unobtanium cars show up in the "legendary" dealer?
Which is fine, but that’s not what the OP was asking.

I predict no additional content in April.

GT SPORT received its first content update in late December, 2 months after the release. GT SPORT also had less problems at launch, which is kinda important to keep in mind. Fixes should always come before content.
I don't think this holds true for a GT game to be honest, as new content in a racing game is generally new cars and tracks and not new mechanics or game modes as in other games.

And I doubt the guys and gals modeling the cars and tracks have anything to do with the guys responsible for netcode or ingame-economy design.

So the content update should pretty much go as planned before release.

Yes, but it still hasn't even been a month since the game released.

This guy gets it.

There’s a huge difference between planned content and changes to the actual mechanics of a game that should be finalised before release.

Obviously there’s a lot going on with GT7 that could do with a rethink, but that’s for a separate thread (about 3000 threads, actually).

I’m hoping for not a new car or new circuit but VRR support.

Sony have said it’s coming soon to the PS5 and they have updated 2021 TVs a few weeks ago so all we need it’s the games to get patched so they natively support it.

Bring it on.

-New 2022 Corvette
-Lexus LFA (Seriously, does Toyota NOT want people comparing that V10 to anything?)
-Something from Porsche, probably the 918 Spyder
-Couple of Pacific Muscle cars, I.E '99 GTO VR4, Bug-eye 'Preza, 98' Galant VR-4
-Something British, probably a Speed 12, or an XJ220

Trackwise? Probably Apricot Hill

Feature-wise
-Bucket Seats (The Asia-Pacific tourney had a Supra with some r̶e̶d̶ ̶Black bucket seats
-Gauges
-I̶n̶t̶r̶o̶d̶u̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶d̶a̶i̶l̶y̶ ̶l̶o̶g̶i̶n̶ ̶b̶o̶n̶u̶s

That wouldn't be a GT update but a PS5 update and yes they have said it's coming so be patient.

The introduction of "Paid Practice" in Sport mode alongside Free Practice. 50,000cr for unlimited practice. Free Practice to be timed to 5 minutes a day.

/s (or is it?).
Related - race fees that exceed the payout of non-podium finishes.

That or a repeat an an event in a 24-hour period only pays the difference between the current finish and the best previous finish.

Not sure we'll see much new content in the game, but we might see 3 café menus and events associated with them. We may even see time trials.

We will also see things from their 'known issues' list addressed.

Oh and, Pikes Peak & Isle of Man TT. They scanned the tracks already right? Maybe GT8 for those but let's hope.
That probably comes down to licensing. Hopefully, PD didn't exhaust their entire budget for licensing pre-launch. I can see them releasing the game with minimal room left in their budget, hoping to license more cars and tracks with the money earned from game sales and microtransactions. As wrong as it is, it seems like something they might have done.

Sony is worth billions. They aren't counting pennies, lmao.

I heard they are finally going to add Monaco and the Vegas strip we were promised!
No, no, not the tracks just the casios
Time to rename the roulette wheel tickets:

1 star = Atlantic City
2 star = Downtown Las Vegas
3 star = Las Vegas Strip
4 star = Monaco

That's true to an extent but doesn't change my point. Typically, large game companies like Sony start off large projects like GT7 with internal budget constraints. You don't become a billion dollar company without doing that. Considering that we don't know the internal politics of Sony/PD, we really don't know what internal constraints have been placed on the GT7 dev team.

While it's possible that Sony gives a team working on a project like GT7 a blank check to pay for content licensing, it's also not unrealistic to think that an incomplete game that's always been planned as a "live service" game was budgeted and structured to rely on game purchases and MTX to fund the game's expansion and growth.

It's not an excuse for Sony/PD's behavior, but this explanation would correlate well with a lot of their other decisions i.e. reliance on microtransactions, smaller car list, less tracks, etc.

There is nothing unrealistic about the thought that Sony's leadership said "PD, you get X dollars for licensing content before the game's release, and then any other money needed for licensing future content will have to come from the game's profits."

Clio 182 & Escort Cosworth. I'm not a religious man... But I am praying.
I support this 100%

There are so many absolute classics from a certain part of the world that get nothing in the way of recognition.

The Cowsorth brand itself carries a huge amount of clout in the motorsport world. That’s before you even start looking at production cars with the badge on the back.

PD seem to put European metal a firm last in the pecking order. It’s handy that there’s a decent JDM following in the UK, because whether they realise it or not, a 69 Camaro or any of its dozen similar cousins just isn’t what we bought the game for.

We can hope!

My guess is that we will get the Tesla Model 3 that was teased since the modeling on it is likely complete:
I hope so. Updated tesla would be interesting.

As a side note, PD apparently has an exclusive license for Pike's Peak, and has a "Gran Turismo Cafe" at Twin Ring Motegi. Considering these existing relationships with these real-world courses, it's pretty disappointing to not see them in-game. I expect these tracks to be among the upcoming DLC for that reason.

I'm thinking consumable tires/brake pads/fuel. Every race is going to cost 15k+ credits to run, lol
