Again, for the third time: not for the majority. The majority of Standards haven't had any improvements, and the <50 "Semi-Premium" are the exception, not the rule.
Hmm, according to this list, there's actually 152 of them. Not a huge difference but it is a difference, that of course does not mean what you've said isn't true.

:yuck:

Please don't be in GT7
Did you see the rims on this!? Sick!:lol:

I question the accuracy of that list, since more than a few of the cars on there are definitely not up to the quality of, say, the RUF's.

Well, unfortunately for us, they haven't. Kaz announced that earlier this year I believe? I remember seeing it in either an announcement or interview, one of the two.

I Really hope they cut all the Standard cars.
If they cut all the standard cars, they won't have the "1200+ cars" selling point anymore, and they need all the selling points they can get for GT7, after the underwhelming GT6 sales. Plus, I'd really miss the BMW M3 GTR, DeLorean, Supra RZ, Impreza 22B etc.
I have a better idea. For every new Premium car they add, they should remove one Standard car. That way the list will become more consistent, without reducing the number of cars.

He did not say they would be in GT7. He said that he won't do away with them because there are too many fan favourites. They will keep them on archive. That does not say they will be in GT7. To me it means they will keep them on their own servers and work on them as time allows.

Since when is 1200+ car a selling point when everyone knows it is mostly two generation old stuff?

As I'm neither a PDI employee nor a professional analyst, I can't know for sure, but if the car count was irrelevant to the point that releasing a game with 300 cars was no different from releasing a game with 1000 cars, don't you think that they would have gotten rid of most of the Standards earlier? And by saying that "everyone" knows a large part of the car list is last-gen stuff, you are clearly forgetting that the casual, non-tech-savvy audience buys GT too, and I think they're more likely to say "Wow! 1000 cars!" rather than "Wow! 1000 cars, but I wonder how many of them have bad graphics."

In order to keep up with Forza 6's car count PD will need to either A: bring a lot of new cars to GT7 or B: Premiumize a lot of cars or C: bring standards back again. I have a feeling it'll probably be C but hopefully we do get some new cars and some premiumized stuff such as the RZ Supra, RUF and some of the GC cars.

You know Turn 10 deliberately pointed out the equal status of all their cars in Forza 6? That playing specifically to the perceived weakness in their main rival.

Yeah, and? I'm not seeing Forza sales skyrocketing because of that. I just don't think removing cars is the answer (except duplicates), as Yamauchi said, "Every car has its fan". That doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have less consistent cars than more cars of varying quality, but if the former means that cars I like get the boot, the choice is obvious.

It certainly is a perceived weakness, and in my honest opinion it's also a very real weakness

PS2 cars on the PS4? Ridiculous. No other word for it :yuck:

PD should have the standards as a free dlc pack for those that want them. That way, those that don't won't have
to soil their lovely current-gen game with them

Then play on a PS2 then. It's where those cars belong.
If you believe that the Supra RZ, Impreza 22B, BMW M3 GTR, DeLorean belong on a PS2, be my guest, but if you're trying to convince me, it's not working. Sorry. As long as they aren't functionally limited like in GT5, I'd rather have those cars in some form than not have them at all. One possible solution could be free downloadable content, for those who want the Standard cars to be able to add them to the game, and for those who want a "consistent" experience to be able to forget about them.

Great minds think alike :D It's the perfect solution

Standards should not be on PS4. End Of.
Of course they shouldn't. In fact, they shouldn't have been in GT6 either, they should have been outsourced to an external studio and remodeled, but it just didn't happen, because Yamauchi insists everything be done inside PDI. Until they can remodel them all (except for duplicates, which should be ditched), they should be left as a downloadable option. "End of."

Yes. Having an option is always the answer. No player who wants only Premiums is going to cry about them being a downloadable option, as long as they don't get in their way, which can only happen if they happen to get in an online race with someone using a Standard car.

I'm no techy but I wouldn't mind betting PD could code to allow 'Premium Cars Only' lobbies?

Yeah, of course, but I meant, what if there's something like a GTPlanet contest that allows Standards (I'm not an expert on these things, I haven't ever played any GTPlanet online race and I play online very rarely)? That could be the only problem for them.

Tbh, I don't think PD are going to do anything but lump the standards into the game alongside everything else

Players will have an element of choice though. Like it or lump it

I very much doubt I'll have to worry about it though. I'm a full-on Forza man nowadays

I'd be very surprised if GT7 had enough about it to convince me to buy a PS4

As for a Racing Car liveries. Should be noted that some Super GT Race Cars from the same manufacturer act differently to others (The Motul GT-R and Woodone GT-R are great examples of this).

Honestly I would be disappointed with this. A lot of great cars will get punted off and we would be completely restricted in certain Classes. There would be only 2 Group C cars (Mazda 787B and Jaguar XJR-9) and the only LMP1s are the Audis, Peugeots, Nissan and Toyota. Nearly every LM Race Car / Super Touring Car will be vanished making the Dream Car Championship lose every meaning it has left (if including Real Race Cars wasn't killing it already).

While I would be upset about my favourite car (Opel Speedster) being punted. I remember that GT6 pretty much 🤬 it so it is now unplayable, so I wouldn't care if it got punted in GT7 because it would likely still be broken.

Sauber C9 is also premium (group C car).

Then they should premiumize all iconic Standard cars, The Sauber C9 and Bentley EXP is already Premium in GT6.

The Dream Car Championship will be comprised of the former RM/DLC TC cars (from GT5) and Vision GT. Also, the Speedster's model has been improved in GT6, so there will be a possibility of being a full premium in GT7. ;)
