In most of my custom grids I use RHs, but lately I started to use their default comfort tyres in one-make grids as long their PP stays below 550...I have this Renault 5 Turbo grid and a Alfa Romeo Giulia GT '67 grid and the comfort tyres are good enough...

Having said that, I definitly would love it, if we could decide wich tyres they use-because in most of my custom grids SHs or SMs would be my prefered choice...
They’re a silly company. That does silly things like that among other things. A lot of other things. I think back of all the racing games I’ve played and really GT7 is missing a lot of features. Even things previous GT games used to have. I just don’t get them sometimes.

Still maximum of 50.
Thanks! I’m working on 50 custom race grids to serve as the backbone of a DIY career mode I am building. In case anyone else was interested, here are the 50 types of races I have planned. Anything in bold is a race that I have already set up with a full 20-car grid, though I have essentially tested all of these out. The "GTAm" races are essentially multi-class track day races with 5 cars per class:
  1. [*]1960 WGT Cup (essentially all pre-1960 cars)
[*]1966 WGT Cup (ex: Cobra Coupe, Ferrari GTO, Jaguar E-Type)
    [*]1966 WGT Cup + 1970 ITCC Multiclass
[*]1970 ITCC (ex: Honda S800, Alfa Giulia GT, Abarth 595)
    [*]1972 WGT Cup (ex: GT40, RX500, A110)
    [*]1972 WGT Cup + World Prototype Cup (prototypes include A220, detuned 2J, Ford/Ferrari 60s LMPs, & detuned 917k)
    [*]1982 ISTC (Gr5)
    [*]1992 ITCC (GrA)
[*]1992 WGT Cup (ex: Corvette, 300ZX, F40, NSX)
    [*]1992 WGT Cup + Group C
    [*]1998-2010 WGT GT1 (Gr2 like CLK & BMW-McLaren / Gr3 like Aston Martin DBR9 GT1)
    [*]2012 WGT GT3
    [*]2012 WGT GT3 + World Prototype Cup
    [*]2015 WGT GT4
    [*]2016 WGT GT3 + World Prototype Cup
    [*]2023 WGT GT4
    [*]2023 TCR
[*]2023 WGT GT3 + World Prototype Cup (Protos will be GR010, Valkyrie, & some VGTs)
    [*]1994-2004 JGTC GT300
    [*]1994-2004 JGTC GT500
    [*]1994-2004 JGTC GT300/GT500
    [*]2008 Super GT GT300
    [*]2008 Super GT GT500
    [*]2008 Super GT GT300/GT500
    [*]2016 Super GT GT300
    [*]2016 Super GT GT500
    [*]2016 Super GT GT300/GT500
    [*]1994 DTM (190E swap, E46 swap, Alfa Gr4)
[*]1980 Rally (ex: Stratos, Ferrari 308, Mini Cooper)
    [*]1997 Group B Rally (80s GrB + Celica & Escudo)
    [*]1997 Group A Rally
[*]2020 Rally (all modern GrB cars + other cars that are similar to FIA R-GT class like new A110 w/ swap)
[*]2020s TurboTrucks (swapped Raptor & Tundra) / Jimny & Jeep Rally
    [*]1972 Trans Am
    [*]2020 V8 Super Touring
    [*]1971 NASCAR
[*]2020 USA Stock Cars (like NASCAR but more true-to-stock)
    [*]1997 Civic TC Cup
    [*]1988 F1
    [*]2019 Super Formula
    [*]2023 Super Formula
    [*]2014 Red Bull Juniors

    [*]2009 GTAm (2009 Carrera Cup (997) / 2009 Trofeo Abarth 500 / KTM X-Bow / Ferrari Challenge (F430))
[*]2016 GTAm (2016 Carrera Cup (991) / 2016 Renault Sport Trophy / BAC Mono Trophy / Audi TT Cup)
    [*]2023 GTAm (2022 Carrera Cup (992) / 2023 MX-5 Global Cup / Lamborghini Super Trofeo (Gr4) / BMW M2 Cup)
[*]1974 IROC (73 911 RSR) OR 1975 IROC (Roadster Shop Camaro)
[*][Space reserved for either 2019 Class 1 DTM with Audi RS 5 or 1965 Open-Wheel with Honda 1965 F1 Car, in case PD adds either another 2019 DTM car or the Pebble Beach GT Award-winner 1966 Indy car]
[*]Additionally, the “World Karting Championship”, but it doesn’t take up a place in my custom race saves because you can’t save a custom grid of karts.

This weekend I begin my custom race championships for 2024 at the Dragon Trail Seaside circuit for the Dragon Trail 500. Headlining the event will be my V8 Championship, while my Super Formula Series will be the main support race. The other support races include the V8 Development Series, Ute Series, Porsche Cup and Muscle Car Masters!

I managed to find some time to whip together a spotters guide for the V8 Championship and took a few launch photos of each teams livery for the upcoming season!

Anyone have a good tune for a almost fully tuned F40? I maxed the downforce and raised the ride height and the car keeps randomly veering to the left and/or right when driven by AI under hard braking. I use the car for custom BPR era races and the car is great besides this major issue dropping it from between 3rd-6th place all the way down to 19th at tracks such as Spa.

Edit: The tune would be moreso for the AI not for me as I usually use a F1 GTR 95 for these races or a tuned XJ220 in C spec.

If you have Gr. 1 and Gr. 3 cars, can you turn on BoP? If so, what happens?

It allows it, I assume it runs each car/class at its BoP tune, kind of like a sport mode setup. I ran my self-balanced IMSA grid for about 5 laps to test, it was good and bad for similar (but not exact same) reasons as my usual setup. What was bad for my particular arrangement was my “GTP” Toyota GR010 fell way behind even my “LMP2” Toyota TS050s, which makes sense were you to tune them to “stock BoP” and run them at Watkins Glen, where I tested.

So..good if you have simpler multiclass grids. Don’t think it allows it when you introduce road cars to the grid…forgot to check that but I have another grid I have been playing a lot recently and I am pretty sure it is greyed out.

Problems under braking sound like you may be able to buy an LSD and crank up the braking slider. Tuning the AI for specific behavior, even if it’s “getting it back to normal,” is not something I have much experience with. Very interesting topic though!

How do I turn BoP off and use tuned cars in custom races? In Race Settings, BoP is greyed out and not selectable. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but don't know what it is.

BOP is off by default. If you’re using Group cars in your races you will have to tune those cars to their BOP specs. There should be a BoP chart in a thread somewhere(maybe in this thread or search BOP).
I just go to a Gr. race and look at the BOP settings for the cars I’m using. Then adjust power and weight accordingly with the ECU and Ballast.

But when I go to a custom race and look at the settings on my car, it says BoP Applied. I've saved and loaded race settings with: Rival Selection - Select from Garage. Then Selecting from my garage, I select a few cars, which I have changed tuning parameters on, but when I go to race, all the cars are at BoP Setting. I'm not using Group cars, just regular road cars. I want to be able to tune each car individually and then race them with my individually tuned car. I can't seem to get away from all the cars being set at BoP.

Do you load a custom race settings from saved list. I came across a bug where a particular custom race was saved with bop on. And when i load that settings and chose any road cars, the game implements bop settings for road car too.

BoP works better with the Gr cars. Road cars are more tricky to balance.
But I don't want BoP. I want it off. I want it off for my car and I want it off for the other cars in the race (which will come from my garage, with my tuning).

I think that might be the problem. I started a new one from scratch as opposed to editing the settings on an already existing one and it looks like no BoP this time. Thanks.

I’m trying to set up a custom race for the first time ever so I can check out the newly released BoP updates. It seems simple enough, but the BoP setting is greyed out so I can’t adjust it. What am I missing?

Suzuka 300km I did today:

Super late to your question, but are you trying to adjust suspension and LSD with BoP on or are you trying to turn BoP and the game isn't allowing?

Working on V8s. V8 Supercars spec, NZV8 Tourers spec & NZV8 TLX spec. The SRT is crazy with the torque, but the grid seems balanced.

Put the Alfa(V8 Supercars tune) in for a comparison.

Thanks. It turns out that I didn’t have the appropriate car active in my garage when I was trying to set the race up. Once I switched to a car that can be BoPped the settings worked fine.

Fiddling with the GTS class cars in preparation for a mock 24H(1 hour) when the GT-One arrives. Feels like it’ll be one of the most fun grids to replicate. Other than Livery Editor this has to be the best feature of this game. Probably one of the top best features in the whole of the franchise. GTPlanet should do an article about the best features in Gran Turismo games.

Not my designs.

I dropped the Viper down to 599 BHP. I’ll run the fuel multiplier to see the outcome for each car. Really can’t wait for Thursday.

For those that enjoy stuffing random cars from random series and random eras onto one track, check this out:

They generally formed three packs and the battling was great throughout!

@05XR8 I have a similar GTS/GT2 grid that includes the red NSX as well as another viper. The 90's Le Mans cars in general make fantastic-looking grids.

That’s plain ol’ GranTurismoing™️ ;)

Been using BOP for the Gr.2s and the Mercedes seems to dominate. Will watch this space closely for individual tunes for all the cars. For now, here is my 1998 grid for a lap
:)

Here's a second first lap of my 1hr event. Results are below. 1hr (24hr time cycle), tyres 4x and fuel 2x.

ECU down to 78
Ballast 24 kgs (1998 specs: weight 924 kgs)

814.19 PP
Strange, on my side it was difficult for the AI to follow CLK and F1 GTR with ECU down to 87%..

Here with 924kg, ECU at 89 and high anti-lag config (828.97PP):
Gran Turismo™ 7_20240328234105.jpg

Best AP laps :
  • # 35 Mercedes : 3'27'333
  • #40 McLaren : 3'27'504
  • #27 Toyota : 3'27'141
  • #28 Toyota : 3'27'374
  • #41 McLaren : 3'27'344
  • #29 Toyota : 3'27'702
  • #36 Mercedes : 3'29'168

Kind of crazy pace here....

This is also strange... I suggested a basic setup of the GT-One similar to the '98 GT-One, both because the '98 version weighed 924 kgs and not 900 and above all because in any case that stock power of 760 hp is not realistic, everywhere it is possible to read that the GT-One was given a power of around 600 hp... I didn't imagine that the AI would have these difficulties with the detuned GT-Ones.
