I believe racing cars will, but do you mean road cars? If so, thanks for the information - not surprising I suppose given the logic of how AI tyres currently work. Really seems like anything other than vehicle default and Racing: Hard doesn't apply for road cars.
Oh, thanks for the hint - TBH I've tested only with road cars so far since I mostly make custom races with garage cars and I have much more road cars than racing cars in my garage ;) I shall check if race cars behave differently

did some more testing and I can say that spec races with Sophy are not ideal. Every single Sophy instance behaves the same and will drive to the limit of the car. If every car is the same, nobody passes, nobody pulls up a gap, nothing really happens. In case the race needs stops to complete, every single Sophy driven car will stop exactly at the same time and do exactly the same refuel %.

I have been trying to put some entropy in the field using ballast, but even then nothing really changes.

Obviously I don’t know the plans for each version of SOPHY. I feel we’ve got 2.1, finally, to give us fast competent AI. Now, next versions should probably address just those issues of AI “skill level”. Maybe we do see a couple varying SOPHY agents for a next version. What was it? Four initial SOPHY agents(I can’t recall the exact amount) in the debut World Tour?

Many players didn’t expect to see SOPHY in this game and look how much development been added to the game since then. It’s possible we’ll get different levels of SOPHY. Maybe not choosable selections, but varying degrees of SOPHY regardless of Beginner/Intermediate/Professional level players choose.

In my Mustang Challenge race last night, they did spread out a bit at times and at least look like they were attempting to pass. The leader actually pulled a ~1.5 second cap on the first few cars (including me) and we had a ~2 second gap to the rest of the field. All cars were the same specs. I was going to test with ballast but since you say that doesn't change anything, might have to do ballast and minor power changes.

I guess the leader in your case managed to pull a bit of a gap because you were close. But I the rest of the field probably stayed in line, I am guessing. Ballast can help, but I don't want to add way too much because that would make the AI too slow. In my tests, I did put anything between 5 to 10 kg randomly on every car, including mine.

I was going to try ~4.5kg increments up to 23kg. (10lb increments up to 50lbs)

HI!

This is just my take on GT Sophy. For context, did 3 different 30 min endurance race between Gr1, Gr3 and GR4. Boost was set to weak as I kept reading about the Boost issues. Tried it on 3 different tracks, Tokyo, Sarthe, and Deep Forest. For all 3, I was in Gr4 category with about 6 other opponents. I tell you, I have never had as much fun in GT7 as I have had the last 24 hours. Sophy stays competitive the entire time and each of the classes don't have any slowdown from what I can tell. With Boost set on off, I was catching up to Gr3s like nothing, but with boost set on weak, I saw no slow down even at the end of the pack. I started last in Gr4 and ended up 2nd out of the 6 in my class. The pit strategy is def a bit weird and having them on Default tires (Gr1 ran RM the entire time) but overall it was a crazy fun experience. The faster classes would make some moves around traffic so smoothly that you barely noticed they were there and there was non of the slow down the GT7 regular AI would do. I would like to have more of an error factor on GT Sophy but regardless, this has been a crazy fun experience. I would definitely recommend some multiclass racing if anyone has the chance. I can go ahead and share my entire races as well if anyone is interested.

Just my take on Sophy so far, Cant wait to race them around Daytona Road Course when they release them for that track. :)

I have to laugh. SOPHY is actually helping me to improve my lines and trail braking. Suzuka was where I be fitted the most. I steadily crept up the field to P2 in a 10 lap race(2x fuel, 5x tyre) with a 19-car GT4/Gr.4 grid. A couple cars pitted Lap 6 and most of the field pitted lap 9. Only myself(in the lone “GT4” Vantage ‘18) and five other cars didn’t pit.

Finally tried N24 with my Group A grid. Didn’t include R32 and used non-swapped RS 500s. Not a fan of more quiet Gr.B swap. Need an Ultra turbo for the original engine RS 500.
Anyway, placed the E30s in the first eight positions and got stomped me and the other three RS 500s. “We” finished twelve seconds behind!

Did a next 10 lap race at RBR. Set the RS 500s P1-4 and we left the M3s by lap 3 and never saw them again until the placing screen. Weird. I guess RBR is more like four drag strips, but N24 has longer straights throughout the circuit. Going to mix up the grid and see what happens.

Did a bunch of testing tonight with the Mustang Challenge cars, and ended the night with a race that was pretty good. When I originally built this car my goal was to match the lap times at Watkins Glen that the real life cars recorded last year. Go figure with GT physics that required me to reduce the power to around 315hp on a RH tire. (real cars have 500+) But I may give up on that slightly.

For the last race I ran 10 laps and had 8 cars set to 377hp and 3765 lbs. I have one car set to 363hp and 3655 lbs, and 7 cars set to 348hp and 3655 lbs. My car is set at 353hp and 3655 lbs. I put the lower power cars up front and the higher power cars in the back. I started P16. There was lots of passing with AI cars spread out across the track on the straights, and it was a good fight for me trying to get past the high power cars while they tried to get past the low power cars.

Here's the replay from that race that I have shared:

Also, this was a cool move that I had to share. Sophy going for the 3-wide overtake.

One final note, I love how racing against Sophy feels a lot more like racing against other players. And the best part is that they don't stab the brakes in the middle of a corner. I can follow very closely through corners and never once have to worry about that.

Why are they making this movement to the left?
The Citroen feels like an OP car on a straight line

They protect their insides to avoid a dive bomb, for exemple.

In particular, the audi protects itself from you and it worked because you couldn't do much about it.

I could be wrong as well but I think she's trying to get you out of the daft.
I actually moved immediately to the right after the final turn before the straight and SOPHY still whizzed by me like I was in reverse with the handbrake up.

The answer is to have a variety of cars. I did this with the 86 and the BRZ. There's a few different models, and they can all make the same power with different ways (engine swaps, super chargers, turbos, etc.)

So, build a spec race with a few different variations. Some with more weight, some with more power.

Folks, I just decided to finally set up my own personal MX5-Cup with Sophy and now I'm reading this....🤨

So, before I spent all the time buying and modifying a bunch of cars, will a few kilos of ballast here and there (not every driver weighs the same) be enough or will I be disappointed?

As long as you put the boost on weak so that it's off, and you're fast enough to keep. up you should have a good time.

Since I only have a PS4 I could not say anything about Sophy races, but with regular custom races I have done the same for my "Nascar electric" races using AFEELAs. But I had to slap an output limiter as well to get enough diversity in speed and acceleration. Needed some time to find the right amounts of ballast and engine output, but after some fiddling it worked pretty well.

Question guys, is there a list or rule set of which cars can only be used as "one make" in (non-sophy) custom races? I know that this is the case for EV's but also some VGT's.

Hi guys, I just spotted this thread last night and was wondering what this was about, doing custom races with the A.I. or taking part in custom lobbies? I'm surprised that I missed this thread, but I was getting sidetracked looking and posting in all the other threads on GTplanet. Let me know if you see my message later on. This would occupy me whenever I feel stressed in any sections of the game.

Hi all, is there a page online where people post their custom races setups??
You could start your own - I’d love to participate - or revive this one:
Thread 'GT7 Challenge Room: Bonus Content, Grids & Custom Races (First Competition Running w/Leaderboard)'
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...rst-competition-running-w-leaderboard.417505/

I plan to create a few spreadsheets to track whatever custom BoP tuning might be needed to ensure a tight race across the board. Could be nice to get a standard format on top of having a designated thread for sharing them.

I’m sure folks wouldn’t mind you sharing them here, either.
