For a game soo obsessed with details, it seems really stupid to equip EVERY CAR with the exact same fuel tank. This is yet another immersion-breaking feature that PD should be doing away with now.
 
There is no 992 GT2. So it would be a theoretical car. However you can swap the same turbo engine into the 991 GT3, and easily adjust that car to be almost identical to the IRL 991 GT2 RS.
This. Though I did read an article a couple months ago saying that Porsche is allegedly releasing a 2026 992/2 GT2 RS, speculated to be around 800bhp. Guess we'll find out in a few months (or whenever Porsche does the 2026 lineup drop)

I'm actually shocked they're going to do another GT2 RS run at all. I thought they were moving further into electric only territory.

(E3 2005 Gran Turismo HD Prototype Footage, basically GT4 on steroids, because, well, they have been using the same fuel/tank/economy system ever since for the past 21+ years, so uh, that's the link I guess, of why I used these images. Brother in Christ, I rarely take coffee, and when I do I cant stop writing absolute nonsense.)

I still feel like it is an essential addition to be able to have the effect of increasing fuel tank size for roadcars/modified cars.

It would add a lot more diversity and freedom of choice for players to use whatever fits then best for longer races.

Sure, many players use highly modified roadcars on LM700 for example at 700pp, but unless they have a racing engine already swapped, they are most likely on FM3 or FM6 on the base standard road engine just to survive the race and edge-out a win.

I dont think that is fair, considering racing cars and racing engines can go flat-out at FM1, do one stop for refuel or even zero stops, and be at the same 700pp without any fuel-map loss.

Implementing something like a custom part to have the same effect as increasing fuel tank size woukd bridge this gap, and make it much more fair.

Notice how I say "have the same effect" because Polyphony have quietly shot themselves in the foot (I guess quietly would be with a crossbow, or silencer) : making every car in the game use 100L tanks, and then forcing unrealistically high fuel economy on racing cars to give the same effect as bigger endurance racing tanks.

So, whatever works around that weird system, we need it in GT7. And hopefully in GT8 they rework and fix this whole system entirely to use more realistic standard tank sizes and realistic fuel economy, which is funny, because their current dated system gives the same effect outcome surprisingly accurately in many cases but it's just not right.

(I just woke up from a nap dreaming of solutions around this and just wrote it down, apologies for typos, I'm half asleep right now but it's on my mind and I wanted to share lol)

Well on one hand they're making more money than ever on special edition sports cars, so the business case is probably there. You may have also noticed that Porsche now makes customers pay EXTRA for features that used to be standard. Want a naturally aspirated engine? Now you have to pay through the nose for a GT3. Want a manual transmission? That's unavailable on the 911 base and S models - now you have to pony up $139k for a 911 Carrera T.

As to EVs, they're realizing that (most) people that buy Porsches won't buy them. Once technology catches up they'll be able to convince some buyers, but others, will never buy them.
