Ray tracing can be activated in replay, stage demo and garage, but not when you're driving.

Edit: Congrats, this thread just reached 200 pages :)

That's all good news to me. The recent blog post said something about Gran Turismo having a different approach to the weather system and how it works. I wonder if you could talk through a bit more about how dynamic weather works in Gran Turismo 7 - does it impact track surface temperature, if there's a dynamic track, does it rubber in over the course of an event?

Kazunori Yamauchi:
We don't have a system for simulating the amount of rubber that's laid on the track, but we do have a simulation of where the rain would create a level of water over the track. When a car passes over it, it will spray aside, and so the racing lines will dry quicker than the other parts of the track. That's something that is simulated and does affect the grip of the course accordingly as time goes on, and the track begins to dry in different places. The air temperature, the humidity, and then the road surface temperature will also be affected by these weather changes as well.

That is pretty cool imo.

Comparing the same track and added details in the trailer? Why make a big fuss of this though? As if there's enough content to make a proper comparison.
What am I making a fuss about? The people making the fuss are the one's getting upset over something so simple to answer. It was a simple question. Exactly like you point out though, if you don't think this is a proper comparison either than why are you bothered that I'm asking? Either way, you don't know what's being compared because the original poster decided to fish for pity responses instead of actually answering.

Well, quite obviously the graphics/assets...

@emula is an awsome user making the best graphics comparisons since many years, contributing incredible content to the gt forum!

You and @Samus on the other hand are contributing nothing else than bad vibes whenever i see posts from both of you.
So you're going to compare graphic's and asset's on a pre-rendered trailer, that always gets bumped up visually to a photomode, washed out, picture that really doesn't even represent the game either? Neither are going to do a good job at that. Bad vibes? A simple question was asked and everyone decided to go straight into a ****-show instead of actually answering a question. Ironic that you try to twist it in a different way. If you want to be a fan of @emula, go for it, no one is stopping you.

Ironically enough, I'm contributing to things being talked about on the game. You're the one actually contributing nothing besides trying to attack people because they don't line up with your point of view, instead of talking about the actual game like everyone else. How you're going to talk about people and bad vibes after doing that, I have no idea.

They both look to me like trolls.
Please point out what I'm trolling. It's against the AUP to make false accusations, so unless you have some sort of definitive proof that I'm just trolling a forum, I'd suggest you retract the statement.

I don’t get this. Why is it disappointing? At the same time some other dude complains about the game not looking good. Well, you can’t have larger grid sizes AND better visuals AND dynamic time/weather AND a more stable 60 fps.
Because 16 cars in a racing game in 2021 is pretty sub-par. It's far from unplayable, but it's not exactly ideal either. It largely rules out meaningful multiclass racing - 8 cars per class isn't that much. I'd have liked to see somewhere in the mid-20's, 24 feels doable and a significant improvement over 16. 30+ would be great but far from expected, that would potentially require sacrifices in other areas or just really clever programming.

As for the second part, on new hardware you absolutely can. The devs can choose to prioritise one at the expense of one or more of the others, but on a new generation of hardware that's seven years newer it's not unreasonable to think that all these things will improve.

I'm not specifically talking about you. I was wondering why people are making a big deal out of it. It's literally just a comparison of a track with the same shot.

You said it in a response directly to me while asking me questions, making it easy to assume it's directed at me. You're right though, why are people making such a big fuss over such a simple question to answer.

Great to hear that the physics will be improved further. Really like what he was saying about car collecting and learning about the history of the cars.
Also the idea of “virtual museum “ to preserve legendary cars is awesome. Make me think that they will add more cult classic in this game. Maybe it’s the reason why gt sport was lacking classic cars.

eurogamer interview mentions the desire to bring more past features back to the game. Maybe we will see course creator and b spec mode? I bet it will look nice with RT on.

edit: also zero loading times on PS5 confirmed!

Based on the facts that the physics have changed I'm going to assume that confirms there is no cross-game compatibility. I had wondered in the past if the Sport Mode aspect of GTS will still be compatible with GT7, especially considering we don't know if the two games will be using the same save data and livery database, etc. Before we knew GT7 was cross-gen, having cross-game compatibility seemed like a good way to avoid alienating PS4 users, but now that the game is cross-gen it seems like GTS may be left out to dry and GT7 uses different multiplayer servers altogether.

I asked a simple question. It was 13 words long. I couldn't have made it less of a big deal. Those who responded as if I'd slapped Kaz in the face however...

The AE86 Levin in GT SPORT has at least 2 visual mistakes, that it has gold strips on its grille (that's one of the characteristics of the GT APEX '84, not '83) and it lacks the pressed lines which should have been on the nose side of its front fenders (the one in GT4-6 had it).

But I'm happy that both of them will be fixed in GT7. Hope that it'll be reflected in GT7.

It's a pointless argument tbh. I think we should all get over it.

The way this is worded makes it sound like ray-tracing is something that can be turned on and off. Interesting.

Where did you see that? From what I'm reading is that its in the game but they put it in every aspect besides game play because it's not possible. Not so much anything about flicking a switch.

Until someone can do a proper manual translation, here is a DeepL translation of that part:
--While we're looking forward to the implementation of ray tracing, I think what game fans are wondering is where it can be used, since ray tracing is very processing-heavy.

Yamauchi: In the game, you can select ray tracing in the replay, and in the stage demo and garage, you can see pictures with ray tracing applied.

--Isn't it applied while driving?

Yamauchi: Yes, it will. It's difficult to apply while driving (Ray tracing)
If I had to guess it is indeed an option in replays, one that will most likely lower the framerate and maybe resolution. Then it's just always on in the demo screens and garage.

Not sure on that answer to the second question though, bit contradictory. Probably a translator error.

The only thing I got from that is that PS4/PS5 will be the same game just be of lesser quality. Which is concerning for either PS5 users and lacking features because of the PS4, or the PS4 looking like a PS2 game.

I got the understanding that both version will have the same features, but PS5 version will look better in certain areas.... visual features.

Yes propably only better cutscenes. Thats all. I still can't believe that in 2024 I will play the ps4 game from 2017 on my ps5 console.
So, that means PS5 will not have an exclusive true next-gen racing game like PS4 had...

In "Ray tracing can be activated(...)". This is worded as if it can start off, and be turned on later.

If you wanted to be correct, you would say: "Ray-tracing is active in replays, stage demos and the garage, but not while driving." This takes away any idea of control over ray-tracing.

That is true. Unless there was a misunderstanding in the tranlsation.

As I can't read Japanese, and Google Translate can't be trusted, I have to trust the poster here on GTPlanet. The way he worded it seems to point to controllable ray-tracing.
See my post a few up. DeepL is usually pretty accurate, certainly more than Google.

Is Ray tracing available on the ps5 while racing?
