More things I noticed here:

  • Pre-race music is excellent
  • Water/grip level on the HUD
  • A lot seems to be locked behind your collector level, demonstrated here specifically, Brand Central and certain levels of tuning parts.
  • Cars look to be handed out very, very liberally.

My take on what I’ve seen so far is that the game seems like it might throw too many cars at you at once and also simultaneously encourage you to acquire cars faster than you want to/can use them. It seems to progress/access more of the game you need to acquire collector levels, and to get those you need cars, at least 3 per level? Unless books aren’t tied to levels. To unlock brand central and just the club sport tuning level you need to be level 4, which sounds like you need 9(?) cars? So, starter car, one per championship, one per circuit experience, one per license completion, and daily login/workout? Don’t get me wrong, I do like collecting cars, but it seems like the structure in GT7 enforces it in a really inorganic way, making you collect to get to the fun, rather than the fun encouraging you to collect. If getting the cars is chore like I feel like it’ll discourage people from trying the cars they got just to give them progress in the game rather than to enter a race, etc. Especially if you want to take a slow car(s) and upgrade them it seems extra counterintuitive, cuz you need to get more cars just to unlock the further upgrades for the ones you already own. Maybe it’ll improve mid game, but early game looks spammy and soft-locked.

I think late/end game will have a lot to offer, though.

Interesting, really wasn’t expecting it at launch.

So that’s likely the WRC edition (not the WRC car) with water injection and plumbing for antilag. All WRCs were built in 1994 but some were still sold into 1995 (like mine). Pretty sure those parts weren’t on mid-‘95-‘99s, and the lifted spoiler wasn’t available factory from factory in 95 and 96, with a different-mount tri-post being offered. The risers came back into circulation in 97 and on.

Now I can experiment with wheel options for my real car 😁😁😁
Agreed,it does seem a bit quick, aimed for a younger audience perhaps? to keep them going..getting GT2 vibes sort of with that.

Lol, no. Younger audiences don't automatically have lower attention spans, and even if they do there's probably a lot of other things affecting them, not just because they're young and muh kids these days. I'm a bit worried how games handle people with ADHD lately -- mainly I struggle with it myself and a few games are so willing to prey on my condition (namely FH5) giving me more and more checklists and not having much escape route for me. GT7 seems to be giving out cars to sort of do a hook line and sinker, though thankfully there is a place where you can at least stop for the day and have a place to know "okay, I can stop here or slow down", i.e the Gran Turismo Cafe.

Fair enough, that makes alot of sense actually,I just hope I don't get through it too quickly, not having the best self discipline the words "slow down/stop" don't really come into it.

They acting like the game is a story and don't want the ending to be spoiled.
SPOILER ALERT: kaz is the final boss

You joke but what if in the last championship he’s the final rabbit to end all rabbits? 🧐🧐🧐🤫🤫🤫

My biggest fear about this game. Too much too fast.

Makes it seem a bit too much like a marketing tool for the auto industry.

There are cars and brands I don’t like or want, and I don’t want to be forced to collect them like a kiddy finding Pokemon. Everybody’s garage should be unique to them.

And on top of that, there’s only so many cars tied to the book system, so to complete the game it’ll probably force everyone to own the same specific 25-35% of the car list, meaning the majority of the remainder may not get explored as heavily. And the ratio will likely increase as DLC is added, making it more dramatic for players that hop in later after release.

More spoilers pls.

Okay, from a few posts of early present openers, we still haven’t seen much. Other than not seeing Sport Mode, have anyone been live streaming a walkthrough?

Keep an eye out on YouTube for leaks. People will sneak footage up there over the next few days. It will get taken down quick but if you sort by upload time you might catch it before it's gone.

There was some random Tsukuba footage up there 30mins ago but I didn't care to save it as it was pretty boring. Just 2 laps in cockpit view, nothing exciting.

That’s what I mean. Doesn’t seem like people are posting their progression properly. If you’re going to post stuff, at least start from the beginning and walk through. I can understand not everyone is going to and it is their prerogative. However, if some are sharing for the sake of wanting people to have a look, may as well present it a bit better.

Initial Impressions from playing Music Rally while the full game installs
  • Catching an oversteer on a controller feels more intuitive than before I believe. The Weight transfer of the car feels easier to predict, probably because of the haptic feedback
  • The haptic feedback is nice. Haptic feedback goes from left to right based on where the weight of the car is. The brakes (right trigger) is heavy so its easier to be more smooth. The Left trigger vibrates when the wheels are spinning out. There is haptic feedback whenever you shift gears
  • (I think this wasn't in GTS?) You can change all the assist settings when you pause the game (TCS, ABS, Driving line, etc) ; This could be just a Music Rally thing, not sure yet.

Maybe I will post more if I dont get lazy

Edit: I also can't believe its actually here, Thanks Amazon!

Edit 2: Idk if the driving is more Arcady in Music Rally mode or not, but I feel like the cars drive much less understeery than it felt in GTS. Also driving in the Tokyo Expressway now the haptic feedback you get when driving over the bumps on the highway feels nice. I think the burg is gonna feel really bumpy, kind of excited.

Edit 3: I am currently confirming whether or not I am allowed to post footage and screenshots

Edit 4: Driving in Tokyo Expressway...Day Night progression...Its finally back...Its beautiful...😭

Please, can you confirm if we can enter the photomode mid race and if there are any changes to the photomode.

We all want to see footage at this point. Screenshots or video. If you can provide that you will be hailed as a hero.

In music rally mode, you are not able to enter photo-mode during driving, but my game is still installing and I dont even have the option to enter photomode in the replay so I cant say for sure at this moment. Ill update this comment once it fully installs

When you get a chance can you try racing in the rain and confirm aquaplaning over puddles?

Not that I care a great deal, but the inverse also applies.

If you don't want to play all aspects of the game, the online aspect being a significant portion, with its own progression structure, challenges etc., why would you expect to be able to get the Platinum trophy, which is received for completing challenges covering the full breadth of the game?

Either do everything to get the platinum trophy, or just play offline, who cares about the platinum trophy, job done.
^ QFE
Half the game? 😂 A mainline Gran Turismo game is 50/50 online Vs single player? No.

Gran Turismo Sport, which launched without any single player campaign, fine, I get the online trophies because it's an online focussed game. GT7, isn't, it has online modes yes, but it is, at its core, a single player experience. Like all other numbered Gran Turismo titles before it.

Players who dedicate time to playing the core experience of the game should be able to achieve platinum completion without being forced to play online.
Very well, let’s for your sake give you a 60/40 or 70/30 percentage situation. Neglecting 30, do you think you’ve earned platinum? Whatever makes you sleep at night, buddy. Fact remains GT7 will be the easiest platinum of all GT games.

GT1, 2, 3 and 4 aren’t too relevant in this discussion as trophies didn’t exist until 5. Again, it kinda seems like you’re missing the original idea of a platinum trophy — it’s supposed to be a difficult and time consuming feat covering pretty much all of the game. If almost everyone with relative ease can pick up platinum it’s kind of a trash platinum, isn’t it?

And if you as a player have zero or little interest in a certain section of the game, then simply feel free to not bother with it. That’s perfectly fine. But how can you then expect to be awarded for “fully completing the game”*?

* not a quote, should be obvious
Some people play games to escape all the idiots around. Not meet more of them. In a driving game there’s no particular reason trophies need to be given for anything online. It’s just online as opposed to not. Still driving. Why is it so important to you that some trophies ARE only awarded for online stuff that could just as easily be done offline?
I didn’t insist that online trophies were necessary to increase the difficulty but they are a handy way of doing it. In fact, GT5 is a more difficult platinum (requires golding Sebastian Vettel X Challenge) than GTS despite its’ difficulty being offline as opposed to Sport.

Anyone know if the force feedback on steering wheels will have more detail in gt7?
