My bet? I think Pikes Peak could be a perfect way to have paid DLC, as it'd likely be a relatively unique experience. For examples, I bet that it's taking so long to implement because PD isn't just simulating the layout of the course, but also factors like how the rapidly-changing altitude can affect the temperature and present oxygen - the latter of which likely would affect engine performance for ICE vehicles. I imagine that it could be a bit like the Goodwood Hillclimb event from GT6, wherein you could be tasked with going up Pikes Peak in a series of cars. More specifically, I bet they'd involve the Pikes Peak-spec versions of the Suzuki Escudo and Audi Quattro S1, but also the Volkswagen ID.R. (Plus, maybe that Peugeot 208 T16 that was supposedly coming.)

EDIT: I also got a nice set of prizes today. First was the four-star ticket from my daily workout, which netted me the Wicked Fabrication GT 51 - a car I didn't have already. Then, for the six-star engine ticket from the New Year's Campaign, I got a Silvia S15 engine, which is still nice even if it's among the most affordable engine swaps in the game. (I'll likely put it into a spare Nissan Fairlady Z432!)
I'd like to subscribe to that theory. However we've had the same wishful thinking ten years ago with GT6...

I know there was the scapes "leak", but my expectations have reached The Winds Of Winter levels. Aka "nice surprise if it does happens during my lifetime".

2024 was quite a lackluster year for gt7 updates with only 1-2 decent updates, its getting weaker and weaker for each year,

Its sad for me as huge gt fan to see pd and Sony only doing the bare minimum to keep the game new and fresh.

I dont deny everything good gt7 has brought to the table like much better car sounds, customize options, very in depth sound changes for engine upgrades, vr, good wheather system, exellent graphics and car details,

But where it falls extreamly flat is the horrible single player career and ai,
Lack of cars for some brands is also a bit dissapointing,

I dont see 2025 getting any stronger than 2024 i hope i am wrong through,
If its just the same lackluster updates i might play it very little to almost nothing.
And in that case i will just play ac evo and not look back.
If a title isn’t designed from the outset as a GAAS the studio isn’t going to support it with full gusto. We get the odd tasty bit of DLC - but the glaring gaps with new race cars, race circuits, modern Ferrari’s and so on - is very much by design. If there was a paid DLC or Season model PD/Sony wouldn’t be holding content back. At least not to the degree we’ve seen.

I go back and forth on when we will see GT8. But it wouldn’t surprise me if GT8 only has a 6 month lead-up from announcement until launch. I can see it launching within 12-18 months.

As for AC Evo - everything I’ve seen of this title screams of a studio letting expectations get out of hand - with no hope of meeting them. Maybe in 2-3 years time we’ll get something resembling the pre-release hype.

For what it’s worth I think Le Mans Ultimate and Raceroom are providing far more compelling content right now now. It’s why I’m building a PC after being out of the scene for years.

Its not going to be 2-3 years for ac evo to reach those features, in fall most of it will be included, the hype is warrented, they doing stuff that never been done before,
Could very possibly be the most groundbreaking racing title we ever seen,

I have no intrest in other sim titles other than assetto corsa, i built my pc for assetto corsa evo, and as far as i am concered ac evo is the only simulator that will have gt7 like features.

Kunos has been very clear to what will be included during early access all the way up to full release, sure in the begining there wont be much content, but to know whats coming sure gets a lot of hype,
Kunos is one of the best devs when it comes to listen to the community.

At least there is undeniable hype 😅

I hope they'll deliver and make many people happy. I have a PC so I am ready if something really interesting comes up. But it will have to compete with the qualities of GT7 (including PSVR2) to lure me.

I am always wondering why you linger around here, most of the posts I read from you talk about how you don't like GT7, PD or whatnot. Don't they have a forum at Kunos ("the best dev when it comes to listen to the community") where you could bask in the hype for the upcoming revolutionnary sim racing game ?

In most of my posts you will see me praise gran turismo, you are proably only reading my most recent ones, i put 2000 hours into gt7 and i would not do that if i didint love it,
When i refer to sim titles i was more refering to full simulators gt7 is more of a simcade.

I have enjoyed most of my time with it,
But its closing in on 3 years since launch , and it has got a bit sterile, pd and Sony are not adding enough content to make it feel fresh and new, i am not just talking about cars and tracks here, the single player is basicly still the same, all they do is adding a couble of sprint races each update, no words on endurance races, championchips or other good single player races, if a new gt would be revealed it could generate a lot of hype for me back again, or if they actully did something big for gt7 like an expansion, because i feel thats is needed at this point,

I use psvr2 on pc as well so thats the plan to use for assetto corsa evo witch has vr support from day one,

You can use PSVR2 on PC?
Yes, but there are some caveats:
1. You need to buy an expensive adapter from Sony
2. Not all features are supported:
PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for PS5 – so you’ll notice that some key features, like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble), are not available when playing on PC.

Where was that stated ?
I was hoping for that too, as it's the sole system seller for me (i.e. every future racing game, to be interesting even, needs to fully support VR...), but did not see it confirmed for AC Evo...
Stated by the devs and listed on the Steam page

Yes, because for a long while there will only be the PC version. Console release is way in the distance so there are no details.
Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't like it though, I would prefer them to not announce a console version at all before they have at least an estimated date.

BTW: Does anyone know if Early Access/Beta or whatever we call it would be possible on the PS Store? I mean, of course it would be possible technically but does Sony allow it?

Apparently Sony dont allow early access on PS5. The only thing you can do is change your time zone and unlock it a bit faster.

You can have demo or a global release.

You're thinking of unlocking a game early on release, like the Xbox NZ trick. Early Access is the devs letting people pay to play an unfinished build of the game for testing/feedback. More of a PC thing, like the several years of Baldur's Gate 3 or Star Citizen.

For some reason people often suspect sinister intent when someone doesn’t praise something repeatedly. It’s maddening to be honest.

Closest thing you'll get is Closed or Open Beta and even then it appears to be extremely rare.

I don't think Sony would allow something like that Early Access/Beta at the store, and I haven't seen anything that mentions about it on their website. We don't know when gt8 will be released, maybe 2026 or 2027. Who knows.

There was a public beta for GT Sport in 2017. It was only available in the PS Store.

That came after a four-month closed beta.

Console release is proably sometime early 2026.

PD are likely prioritizing gt8 development right now, gt7 updates are secondary at this point.
