What can we realistically expect from 2025 for the gran turismo franchise?

I don't what else new they would add with their current vision for the game. My safe guesses:

• ~20 new cars (slowing down even more to save content for the next game)
• A track
• Most track locations getting at least one layout with Sophy AI by the end of the year
• Some kind of change to the Sophy format (hopefully)
• More scapes
• A couple of relevant QoL improvements
• Engine swap options for ~50 more cars
• World series

My hope for 2025 is we get a bit more non-content feature development

2023 was good for this - even ignoring all the Spec II introductions, we got purchasable engine swaps, the ultimate section of the tuning menu, the pre-race weather radar, the Sport Mode championship credit bonuses, pitting showing what mandatory tyres you need to use, being able to ban engine swaps in lobbies, drift Scapes, and I'm sure a few other things I'm forgetting.

Meanwhile, in 2024 we got... the GTWS Dynamic Viewing mode, I guess? Oh, and the ability to scrub through replays, that was nice QoL. But it was definitely much less frequent last year.

What I hope for :

• a quick and easy way to see which CE you've golded (like it was in GTS)
• the ability to know distance driven per car (like it was in GTS)
• more options for HUD in VR
• Sophy to be able to drive consistently more than a few laps on a few tracks
• the collector level to continue to grow after level 50
• the ticket stats to continue to improve according to collector level

What I have zero hope for :

• good enough penalty system for online racing
• the end of chase the rabbit format and rubberbanding

I hope for being able to return to the home menu from any other menu, simply by holding circle. Oh, and my garage to remember my last used car selection method (e.g., by manufacturer, by category, by PP, etc.)

With the holidays it's probably expected. Stretching out the updates from late November to late January gives them 2 months of lead time to deliver a mediocre update and space the content out further.

*An annoucement after 2025 GTWS that support to GT7 will considerably slow down for 2026 as they will move 100% to GT8 development

I think new GT3, LMH, GT500 and other race cars are being reserved for GT8, and maybe just a couple like a Porsche 963 or Ferrari 296 could be added during 2025

I think I might be done with GT7, at least for a while. Last weekend I dismantled my racing rig and dusted off my VR1 set up for a bit of BoxVR (new year new me, and all that). Around this time last year - when I was still new-ish to GT7 - I had this plan to pay off my credit cards throughout 2024 and then invest in a PS5, PSVR2 and a proper Fanatec set up, but when the time came to pull the plug it hit me that the game simply wasn't good enough to justify the expense. I priced it up at something like £3500 for the whole shebang, but for that kind of money I can get something like a Honda Civic in decent condition, or even something like an RX-8 if I'm prepared for the hassle, and take it out for a blast on track days at weekends or something. I think I'm just gonna do that.

I still play the first 4 GT games quite regularly on my old PS2, and even with a controller they're just so much more fun. Once you get over the downgrade in graphics, the actual gameplay - the most important aspect - all of them leave GT7 in the dust. Even though you're only against 5 opponents, at least they're decently challenging, but it's also the way the game's events are set up, they have a lot more replayability (and you're replaying for fun, not just to mindlessly grind for credits), the tracks seem more varied and interesting, and even the cars seem more interesting in the older games. Sure there's no Ferraris or Lambos, but I mean, there's not a whole lot you can even do with your Ferraris and Lambos in GT7 without totally nerfing them anyway, so what's the point?

So yeah, wake me up when GT8 gets announced, I suppose!

Brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche took so long to get involved with Gran Turismo that I still find it a little weird when I see them in-game. In my mind, GT takes place in an alternate reality where everybody goes to places like RUF, TVR, and Lotus for their exotic car needs. And pristine Civics and Silvias can be had for pennies down at the used car place.

(GT3's Japan-exclusive Diablo doesn't count.)

I Wouldn’t be surprised if they announce the next Gt before the end of the year 1.5/2.0 years befothe actual release date

I'm personally hoping they flesh out certain automakers a bit more, like TVR, Volvo, and Skoda. Heck, even Infiniti could at least benefit from both the G35 and the Q60, not to mention that tuners like RE-Amemiya could get more cars, too. Even Zagato could also get the IsoRivolta GTZ. Here's hoping for a more formal Pininfarina VGT, as well.

EDIT: I think we're very much due to another set of missions, too - which would likely include at least another drag-based mission, since the last one we have at the moment implies there are more like it to come.

TVR is the one that hurts me the most. We're into 6 years with only the Tuscan Speed 6 being represented. That's sad for a brand with such a strong recognition in the game since the beginning of the series.

About those Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but really the GT7 cover cars. It feels like Porsche and Mazda were mainly for the Japan market of the game. I think the USA got a Porsche esport event, but mainly Japan have special events with Mazda and Porsche.

The rest of the world get the Toyota events, but we don’t see much in the use of Mazda and Porsche like the, I guess, marketing of the Porsche VGT and RX-Vision GT3 on the cover and throughout the intro movie. Yes, there are weak Porsche Cup(not real Porsche Carrera Cup) more like Rennsport events, but no One Make or multi-class with the LM, GTLM and GT4 cars. No type of Rotary Cup or RX-8 One Make.

I know the cover cars of each GT just meant that special car was in each game, but this game was supposed to be that bit extra, not.

Have you checked "TR Supercars"? Its a brand created by old employees from tvr after leaving. They even made an upgraded version of the speed 12.

Throw in the non-zero probability of not having access to (near-)mint original-spec cars to scan to 8K/high-quality audio standards.

I totally agree. I go back to GT4 quite frequently, though it’s a hassle swapping out the wheel/pedals. The DTM Championship (Paris Opera!) is a real blast.

Infiniti brand wise is in abit of a funky position, nothing really appealing from them and no seemingly real effort to push the brand abit more at the moment so that VGT is pretty much that last vestige of any of said effort.

Likewise, TVR is a massive question mark between the lack of...well, alot of things.

Kinda hard to flesh anything out with either between the accessibility of one brand (Particularly cars) and the lack of appeal for the other.

Of course any of those could end up in the game badged as a Nissan Skyline.

In another timeline, the new TVR Griffith is in active production, and it has road, Gr.4 & Gr.3 versions within GT7.

I mean after all, a brand that dates back to the very first Gran Turismo should have Manufacturer Series representation.

Funny how Forza got this car actually. I think it was added to that series around a similar time to when we got the Tuscan in GT Sport. Forza got both the Tuscan & the new Griffith together I recall.

Last time TVR were involved in real world motorsport was with the now-defunct Rebellion Racing LMP1 program as far as I know.

G35 (coupe/sedan) G37 (coupe/sedan) Q50/Q60

From what I remember the Q50 is dead and aside from the supposed 2025 Q60 (Still a very "I'll believe when I see it" kind of deal), everything else they currently offer is basically a SUV or crossover of some kind. The lack of anything substantial in other games as of late also seems to point to a lack of appeal for anything from Infiniti. I just don't see the brand in general being talked about in anywhere near the same regards as you or @MIE1992 are doing and I don't even know if THEY want that kind of representation anymore themselves. Like I said, its a funky situation right now.

Of course any of those could end up in the game badged as a Nissan Skyline.

Which is another problem: With Nissan being...there (between the seemingly unkillable GT-R and the 400 Z to go along with a much more appealing brand name), It just makes the case for anything Infiniti other then the VGT just that much more difficult to be appealing.

Oh and I do not see PD going for the Primera or its Famous Touring car. Feels like if you want ANYTHING remotely BTCC associated and you don't have a PC, Codemasters are sadly the closest you're going to get between Grid Legends and you know... them being the folks who literally made the last BTCC Licensed games (and no, I refuse to acknowledge the joke that was that MSG license drivel that never even materialized beyond payed rFactor 2 DLC).
