I don’t think most people would. Especially with the interest in cars dwindling. I’m a car nut and I did not expect to see luxury cars in GT2. Let alone to see Accord, Legnum(I didn’t even know what that was before Gran Turismo-one of my best friends owns one) and Subaru(wagons)estates in the first game.

I don’t expect to see an M4 Touring in GT7 and I guess GT8. That’s only from knowing the recent history of PD adding cars. We all still have no idea what to expect.

Because both Audi and BMW are currently represented in GT7 with cars that are sportier than the bigger RS and M cars. By “sporty” I refer to a more optimized combination of handling and weight, as seen on the M3. The bigger cars like the M5 are heavier highway cruisers, although still with some sporting pedigree. I understand the cool factor appeal of the M5, but for circuit driving we already have nimbler, and thereby better cars from Audi and BMW.

Then someone might argue there’s a big and heavy Lamborghini SUV in the game. Well, I’m not saying PD has a rigid rule against adding not so sporty cars. All I’m saying is that it’s not outright strange that there’s no M5 etc. Because such bigger cars are not the norm in GT7, hence not strange. Just give it time, there’s an M5 in the datamine. However, in GT5 it was a boat. Enjoy the complete family of M3 models instead. They are more fun anyway.
M5 would be better suited than many cars we already have in the game. Their is plenty of heavy or slow cars. So that dosent work as an argument,
Its about creating better varity in the game and fill out the missing gaps on more on the brands.

A m5 would be a better addition than another m3 because their is already 5 of them

I never knew you could set Laguna Seca to have such foggy weather. Is this just the overcast/cloudy day setting?
Here’s that race setting:

And I didn't do either of these things.

The post said "expect" not "want", and it has very little to do with how beloved they are of reviewers, racing drivers, and enthusiasts that people should "expect" them to be in modern "a racing game".

Certainly if you look at the replies to Yamauchi's Tweets, it seems most people expect racing cars in a racing game - which is, I suppose, not too unreasonable. Many of the rest just want to wave the flag for their pet preference.

It was a very passionate but irrelevant defence of the virtue of these cars.
"Want", "expect", the difference is trivial here. I understand you're very specific about word choice, but we're getting pretty pedantic about differences that don't really differ much at all.

It's not a modern "racing" game, it's a modern game that celebrates car culture AND racing. There are many aspects of GT that have nothing to do with running a car around a circuit.

PD has shown that race cars are not a priority through DLC updates that provide many more "normal" cars than any type of racing car. If you count the race cars that are relevant, the balance is even more in favor of road-going iron. So regardless of what people want, expect, wish for, or hate, there still isn't any tangible valid reason for anything we've gotten so far to be any more relevant than an M or RS model.

You say it's weird to "expect" them, I say that's completely unfounded, and history proves it.

They differ greatly: neither I nor the post I quoted said one, both said the other.

If I'm responding to specific words - which I was - please don't substitute different ones, pretend they were used instead, and then launch into a tirade based on that.

Indeed - and there's a gulf between desires and expectations.

Do I want an M5 in GT7? Yep: E60 please (or ideally the almost-M5 Alpina B10 S Touring, for the E39 wagony goodness). Would I expect one? Not exactly, no. I don't think they're on PD's radar exactly - even though one member of staff owned (or owns? The conversation was a while back and some beers in) an Alpina B7.

I'd expect one in Forza Horizon though. Indeed what to expect from a "modern racing game" varies depending on the game. FH yes, FM/GT/ACE/PMR maybe, NFS poooossibly, ACC/F1/TXR/WRC/etc nope.

What I expect from GT7's updates right now is a largely new-to-game set of 3-5 cars comprising some newish and some 1980s-1990s models, often filling in gaps in generations are nameplates, and the occasional really weird thing.

Except that is literally NOT how those two words work. You also can want something without expecting it and likewise you can expect something without wanting it. That's not pedantic, there's literally a difference between the two words as defined in the dictionary. If you are implying that they are the same thing, there's two literal defined reasons that is incorrect.

I didn't imply they were the same, I said the difference is trivial in this case. Note the "difference". If you're arguing as to the specifics, it pays to be specific in your refute.

A large number of the people asking for these cars WANT and EXPECT them. Look at the GT7 FB groups for proof.

Am I the only one who cannot drive the Escudo with a wheel (on road at least)? The force feedback is unbearably weird in it. This never used to be a problem, and I'm on the stock tune.

Are you a M5 owner?? Just curiosity after being how persistant you are using that car in every reply im this thread🤭🤭

The Escudo is a really softly sprung car. You're likely experiencing torque steer combined with the front tires skipping from the wheelspin. At least, in a straight line/launching it.

Just a thing about the invitations. I guess it’s been discussed to death as I don’t pay much mind to it. Thing is, it’s as if Kaz saw how bad it is and just didn’t bother to okay placing “new cars in waiting”. The Mission X, Valkyrie and even the 918 Spyder could be prime candidates for invitations. Veyron is an invitation while the Chiron isn’t. I guess PD really messed up.

Yeah the invitations suck. It took me 2 years to get all of the invite cars. There have been others who got them all when they all the invites available. Some it has taken longer than 2 years. I think out of all the bad ideas they have this is by far the worst

It's one of multiple things they've implemented in a manner that emulates the exclusivity of real life and creates work in the game. The whole reason we're playing a game is to experience things we can't experience in real life. The invites are the worst but the economics of the pricing scheme is also bad. I don't mind realistic pricing per se, but the rest of the game's economy and prize cars are poorly balanced.

A good amount of complaints the people in this website have regarding GT franchise is that the game doesn't feel racing enough. Though personally for me, while I do want for the racing aspects to be made deeper, but I don't want for them to throw away the car culture aspect.
Are we playing GT6? NO, we are not....
It's just an example of a game where all cars are available.

There's still 20 mil newly added cars in LCD.

As this article says, this'd be what if Invitations actually emulated real life exclusivity, not random RNG.

Question for anyone willing to check out, is the word "Midnight" still censored while creating a lobby room? I'd check it out but I absolutely and I mean absolutely dread seeing the "You've been censored" screen message. Thanks.

Based on testing by searching that word on the livery search and looking for someone with anglophone flag (as word filters are on per-language basis), looks like it's no longer the case:

Of course we can. We can’t mix up treaded compounds. We can definitely add RH to one AI car and the rest of the cars on a grid have default treaded compounds fitted.

I have all 18 AI different Roadsters with RH. Just selected one to have the stock CS.

Now I'm confused. It has been mentioned here several times that AI in custom races will always use stock tires.
Will try and report back!
