At the end of the day, the lack of communication did not prevent them from delivering GT, GT2, GT3 and GT4. Sure that could be seen as an issue in our era, but that is definitely not the main problem.
Online makes them believe that's what players want which trophy completion says otherwise but it means no where near the effort goes into the one player game anymore.

You think their focus and efforts are towards Sport mode?!

That was when print ruled all, and places like this were fan sites.

PR is a totally different animal these days, and SIE (which has always been a bit bloaty on the marketing front) has not entirely adapted to it.

Their efforts (or at least their money) are towards organizing international meetings for e-sport players.
There's a difference between money and staff being deployed to host the GTWS Live events and the focus of the game development being Online/Sport Mode.
Following Sport mode pretty closely, I can tell you that (at least in my opinion) the organization process of the Online Seasons (and Daily races in general) has been pretty consistently low-effort, with combos and formats being recycled regularly and a... let's say, very relaxed quality of life implementation process (we're still dealing with some...interesting situations in the current Exhibition season).
Regular online multiplayer on the other hand, aside being pretty empty compared to past games, doesn't get updates since the pre-race weather radar has been added (I think it's almost a full year since that) with no major QOL update for Lobbies since 2022/early 2023...

If you were to ask me, I'd say their current focus of development is probably on adding the already scheduled stuff and work for the next title.
What's aggravating in my opinion is that it seemed that way ever since 2023 (except a couple standout updates like Spec II, which still didn't target online play)
