There's definitely some aspects to tyre rules (separate from the simulation engine) I definitely wouldn't want PD to model/emulate even though it'd be more realistic.

Like, I don't think the game would be improved at all by them going "Real life GT3 race series only use one dry tyre compound, so now Gr.3 cars are only compatible with RH tyres".
Yeah I fully agree with this. I think where it matters the game is as realistic as it needs to be, it's not trying to be a full fledged simulator - but it does a very good job at being close to one whilst still being a game anyone can play.

....I don't think they mind..
Is that Kaz?

Oh mad what a spot!
Though Kaz having a model of a Lotus Esprit Turbo is far from a guarantee of one being added to the actual game, it's of note that it's a different Esprit that was included in the old datamine list:
* esprit_v8_02
Not that the old datamine list contained all of the cars that have been added in updates, nor is it likely that all of the ones in the list will arrive at some point.
Just an interesting observation I thought I'd mention.

Evidently Kaz still has an interest in Lotus, even despite the licensing issues.

He created many interesting cars:

The cars he designed in the 70's and 80's all looked very similar didn't they?

This guy asked an e-Motorsports staff in the HRC, whether GT7 will have the GT500 NSX / Civic, and the staff said they've been on the waiting list for about a year.
They (or does he mean many manufacturers?; unclear in this tweet) want their cars to get a chair in Gran Turismo, so PDI has been really busy.

This is a bit of an old post from a few pages back, but it's been playing around in my mind a bit because I'm very curious what being on the PD waiting list entails.

Waiting list to agree licensing terms? Waiting list to get cars scanned? Waiting list to get the cars models developed post-scan? Waiting list to get the completed models added in-game (okay, that one's way too optimistic)? I feel like I'd believe any of those except the last one.

Now that you bring this up, it makes me curious as to how much is there just to get one car in alone (nevermind say three to six) and then what is it in that process that makes this line rather huge.
