The option isn't "[Car you don't like] or [Car you do like]"; it's "[Car you don't like] or nothing".

Bearing in mind that some people do get value out of [car you don't like], it adds to the game whether you like it or not.

I wonder if Polyphony have kept on outsourcing occasionally, or if they don't anymore.
I seem to recall the Honda S660 being an outsourced model, rather than an internally developed one. Not sure if that was the only time, or if there are more examples.

Bigger like playground games/turn10 imo also do better job ;)
They have good selection of vehicles. However, PD car lists were hip from GT-GT4. We just don’t know what the stories are for why many licences ceased.

Forza have Australian made cars. Gran Turismo did as well. What happened between GT4-GTPSP and GT5? I remember we could transfer all cars except the FPV Falcons. FPV didn’t switch hands of ownership until between GT5 and GT6.
Let’s say FPV cars could have been in GT5 with a deal for licensing to run out until GT6. I have no details of the PD

Meanwhile, Forza 4 added Australian cars a year after GT5 debuted. This could have been mainly due to XBox having sponsored ex-V8 Supercar multi-champion Mark Skaife. Forza had sponsored the first of two Xbox liveried V8 Supercars. The first was Matthias Ekstrom/Andy Priaulx Triple 8 Holden Commodore 2013 Bathurst 1000 wild card entry that finished an amazing 10th overall. The second was at the 2015 Bathurst 1000. It DNF( failed steering at Skyline) by the Marcos Ambros/Scott Pye entry in a new 2015 FG X Falcon. It was a big deal when V8 Supercars new regulations for Car of The Future came out in 2015. Forza 6 got the full roster of V8 Supercars models.
 
Well it is what it is, if PD plans to release gt8 by the end of 2026 or 2027, then they will most likely stop the updates by the end of this year. But I'm just guessing, but from most of the posts I read here that will most likely happen. So I think I'll just have to deal with what we have. I mean it's better than nothing. There's plenty of cars, tracks and modes in gt7 to keep us all occupied and entertained. Even the Cafe is fun to stop by every once in a while. Some of the A.I. people are cool, Sarah for one...

So we may get another track or two, but that's a big if. Will PD have the time to do it when they are already planning and developing gt8? That's the question.

There are outsourcing companies credited in the game's credits now.

Is not only budget, is marketing for the brand or model, and also what the developer is looking for.

Sincerely I am sick of super and hyper cars, we have reached where if a car is not from X or Y brand or if is not doing the 0-100/0-60 in 2 seconds with an amount of unnecessary HPs is nor whorty (even calling them garbage if they have something under 300hp, how you dare), also having all the games.to have the same cars, the same tracks and the same physics... what is point tbh??
 
This is what worries me most about GT8, as soon as the game comes out people will begin to compare these points to other titles (even past GT games) and the vocal minority will be disappointed but the vast majority will be excited to try the new tracks and cars.

Physics is always my number one reason why I continue playing a game, I’ll give almost any game a chance but if I don’t find the physics entertaining (in my personal way) I don’t tend to keep playing the game long into its story mode.

I’ve tried every NFS, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, The Crew, Burnout, Dirt series and a ton of bargain bin PSN titles over the past 2 decades and GT is always the one that gets the most play. Purely because the physics, tracks and cars are what I like from car culture at that moment in time.

As the youth take over (pun not intended) the game will change to stay relevant and that core value of select a car and select track and “let’s see what you got!” has always made me play Gran Turismo. Even if different games have the same car, track and similar physics, it’s up to the studio to create a culture/vibe/narrative/story within the game and that’s why I hope GT8 decides to keep being that odd ball game that clearly just… loves cars.

Perhaps if we look at racing/driving games in a similar way to ramen.. there’s millions of recipes, types of noodles, broth, flavors, even the toppings but everyone has there own personal favorite that offers them comfort in a way only they know.

That is why I read so many argumentative conversations on GTP, (although sometimes entertaining) and seems like everyone wants to be master chef and tell everyone what they should like instead of just enjoying the ingredients we have at the moment.

Disclaimer: I’m well aware that there are threads on the forums that are not as opinionated as the latest discussion or next update threads. Just my perspective.
 
Just noticed some Superstar driver you race alongside in a certain racing event says 3.00 natural frequency and/or more on some cars could be problematic. Is that true? I have a weird tendency, when driving normal cars (As in, daily drivers and lesser sports cars if I'm not mistaken) to maximize the natural frequency so I can tune the car as most possible for an event.

If PD will be more up to date with modern road and race cars there is no point in gt7/8 ? ;d
 
Thing is if PD wanted to they could easily add modern race cars but there can be many reasons why we not yet getting them

but we got no more info which reason is it , only somewhat maybe related is that they have to scan those vehicles and they got HUGE list of cars to do - who knows maybe they already done it or maybe different priorities

honestly next GT should go back to DLC route that way everybody can get what they want but BIG downside is you have to pay for it :D

I second this! There are already (pretty useless) microtransactions in the game anyway so they might just as well include DLC‘s.

I wouldn‘t mind paying a few bucks here and there if it means we‘re getting up to date GT3 cars and LMDH / Hypercars and new race tracks.

I agree with you its too easy to say 'PD should add car Y and X' which can be tricky due to copyright deals etc, but I'd have to say the same way goes around. It's very plausible, because there are certain cars in other games as well, that the selection of cars is definitley not solely triggered by license agreements but also simply by costs and just choices within PD.

So it feels kinda weird when people say they should add different cars to the game your standard response is to start about licenses and budget.

Yes, but the same thing goes around. You cant say 'people want [Car you don't like] but thats probably not possible due to licensing agreements'. Unless you have a citation that PD cant get a Porsche 963 (just naming random car from some DLC) due to licensing?

Firstly, a statement of probability is not the same thing as an absolutist statement.

Additionally, I'm not even saying that, so you might want to ease back on the quote marks you're aiming at my supposed words.

However, what a lot of people who think getting a car in a game is simply a matter of wanting it strongly enough don't seem to grasp is that licensing cars is hard - really hard when they're cars already subject to multiple commercial agreements, like modern race cars - and both the start and finish of the process. I can tell you without hesitation that there are brands that won't entertain any thought of negotiating licensing agreements because their antediluvian PR bosses think it's a waste of their time, and those who demand ludicrously unreasonable fees or bat**** conditions, and those who won't deal with certain games for particular reasons, and that no amount of wishing will get these brands to a particular table.

What I'm actually saying is... well, what I've actually said, and not some made-up, reinterpreted position. However, if you really want a simplified version for some reason, it's that people should be thinking about the above rather than thinking PD simply isn't bothering.

Why is it easy then, if there's loads of reasons why they aren't?

And again, you're choosing "they could but they won't" - laying it as choices made by PD - without consideration of anything I literally just said about the reasons why it's not necessarily anything they can do anything about.

Here's a modern race car that PD, no matter what they do, cannot get in GT:

The ball for this is not in PD's court, no matter how easy you think it is for them and how they're making the choice to not add it.

That'd move it from "functionally impossible given all we know" to "possible, at least in a close-enough facsimile if you don't stick them side by side". Although we don't get to strip them out, so the cockpit view would not match.

I've occasionally wondered about a solution to that, but it would require additional scans.

I don't follow the premise of your question. Could you elaborate?

They have the IMSA licence so any car or track is available just not chosen?
