Oh look, another Pikes Peak Time Attack car coming to GT and probably without Pikes Peak I'm assuming. T_T

Well, at least you can say this car technically was a time attack car for other tracks too.

The ID.R? No, it's a completely custom machine built originally to set the Pikes Peak record.

Little secret - under the sexy body the iD.R is the Norma M20 FC that Romain Dumas had been using for a couple of years already, if you know where to look it still has its Norma chassis plate. VW bought the car off him. The electric motors in it are McLaren Electronic Systems units made for the original Formula E car. In addition to the bodywork, and motors, the front subframe and front suspension are the only other thing changed significantly from the Norma as they needed to fit the motor for the front wheels in.

It's a great bit of kit but is up there with the "Nissan" Deltawing (Aston Martin chassis, Chevy WTCC engine) as an inventive bit of badge engineering.

Can't wait to chuck it round Suzuka....

It's not that much of a secret though (although I thought it was the MXX) - and neither is the DeltaWing (I found a post from me in 2013 noting the AMR-One tub). Tub-sharing isn't that peculiar either - the R390 was a Jaguar XJR-15, which wasn't that far removed from an XJR-9.

I wonder when will we get a full day to night swith on the other tracks, Barcelona, Mozna, Red Bull Ring, etc, on real tracks it is missing and on the original tracks it would be handy.

For me, it's the Mitusbishi COLT 1.5 Sport X Version '02.

I swear most people don't even read the thread they post on, just post out a hastily thought out rant for the hell of it. It's been mentioned multiple times that it is NOT the Pikes Peak car. Reading provides information. Try it some time.

Okay, you caught me; I skimmed through the thread. Sorry.

But of course I have to rant, because Polyphony Digital has this theme of releasing content or getting the rights to it without making full use of it. I'll rant about it until they actually do something more significant then what they've done now.

Yes, they do, and that's why they complain that PD spend that time modelling VGTs instead of the real world cars that they want.
They don't scan VGT cars though, they already have all data they need. They just reduce amount of polygons or something like that, which makes things more underwhelming than ever

I want to believe that by going to the tuning shop we can change the rear aileron to Pikes Peak mode

With Petit Le Man on October 1st, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Road Atlanta appear in this update.
I´d like too

I really liked that they had the data of the Porsche 959 and the Charade GTti, already retouched.

However, the emergence of I.D cars is very good news.

They don't scan real modern cars either, they get CAD files from the manufacturer, exactly the same as VGTs. They then have to make their own models using the CAD as a guide, you don't just "reduce the polygons" of the CAD model. That isn't how it works.

TWR where almost sued by Nissan after the R390 details where revealed. They paid big bucks for a bespoke car, with much of the money (reportedly) siphoned off, to prop up the crumbling TWR empire.

As I’m sure you’re aware. In ‘98 there was a bare bones long-tail update that was way off the pace. Before the two parted ways.

They forget about that little detail way too often.

But still they insist in saying that adding more VGTs doesn't take away resources from adding more real cars. Even if they don't believe what people tell them, isn't the fact that for the past 7 months, we've had 3 cars each month, and that in at least 3 of these updates, one of the slots was robbed by a VGT, not proof enough that VGTs DO TAKE UP RESOURCES?

Seeing the ID.R makes me excited. Thinking about the tedious grind for it kills the excitement.
It won't be that expensive. It's going to be a Brand Central car. At most, the very most, it's going to be 3 million, but even that is pushing it. 3 million is the price of multi 24h Le Mans winners like the 919, GR010 and R18. Between 1 to 2 million is my guess. Don't think it will be less than 1 million either obviously. The Porsche VGT is a guaranteed 1 million.

and the Silvia? anywhere between 50k-100k

As a quick side-note... if the ID.R goes into Legends Cars as expected, you'll only be able to drive the Porsche from these three cars on the actual update day; the ID.R and Silvia will be added as Hot pick in Legends and Used Cars respectively from 0000 UTC on Friday.

It's a car made only a few years ago. What would it be doing in the Legends dealer?

Which begs the question of what role the manufacturers play in the lack of modern real-world cars in GT7.

Let's count how many times this gets asked on the 29th  Wait, no-bad idea.

It's a unique race car which broke all-time records at Pikes Peak, Nurburgring (EV category), Goodwood Hill Climb, and the admittedly more recent (first record was 2016) Tianmen Mountain ascent.

While it would definitely be the newest thing in there (except the Dior Mangusta, which is technically a 2022 creation, but then is also all kinds of messed up with regards to its status) and the only 2001-and-on car not to be in Brand Central, it meets every other criterion for being a Legends Car.

It depends on whether PD considers 2001+ a hard line for Brand Central or not.

Going back to the eadly Trailers, there was this photo.

We don’t know if this was meant to be a player’s garage or Legendary Car Dealership(Brighton Antiques at the time). There are classics and new cars(the Ford GT ‘17) together. The windows make it look like the LCD. So, maybe certain newer cars could have been part of the LCD. We just don’t know.

The Porsche Living Legend also meets the one-off record-setting criteria, but it is a Brand Central car.

Watch the Silvia end up in Hagerty's.
