I already see the usual trouble around this update…
I think there won’t be any big or substantial. We get the 4 new cars, probably a handful of new events and that’s it. Hopefully some visual fixes and improvements especially for the ps5 pro.

Any updates for b-spec or a new track would have been called as a „big update“ by Kaz.
Got it right but that one was easy :)

I don't understand the expectations.

You're getting more content. If you want a new game, wait for the new game.

Much of what's being asked for is a feature list for GT8. We're creeping up on 3 years since launch, it's getting pretty close to that time.

Hopefully we get some F1 races in Sport Mode. We've had far too few of those.

Speaking of being old...I remember once upon a time, back when a Blockbuster date was a thing, the draw of GT was being able to drive real cars...hopefully YOUR car. How did we get here?

I agree with you, I have been there, I know it...

But being the devil (that is Kaz)'s advocate, objectively and in all fairness
The i5N is a "pedestrian" car
The civic (another one, which is on point with the franchise) is an old pedestrian car
The C-HR is a divisive pedestrian (that I gladly would trade off for another better choice out there, but beggar cannot be choosers)
More F1 is always good, more racing car of any kind is always good....

Trickle down gift is on point with the slow progression and required grind philosophy of this game...

That's why we ARe here, with "pedestrian cars" we don't necessarily prefer, What else is new..

Kaz you got most Civic generations covered, now give us a CRX please!!!

I also been patiently waiting for my Preludes, M5 etc.... long list... (At least we got the E30 and E36... ) But I still want the 4 door sedan berline variants too...
Story of our beggars' lives.

Same. If I wanted to drive {insert GT3 racecar of the last five years} on {insert reasonably well-known real world venue}, then I have {most every title with something of a sim leaning released within the past couple years}

Yes I am in agreement with you,.... But but but
For those of us such as myself with not enough time, we can only dedicate ourselves to one game, and so we prefer to have the whole package here all in one place.... From Kaz to us....
But I hear you...

A Time Trial at Pikes Peak would be masochistic. :D

You are preaching to the masochistic GTP crowd here, we have been waiting for the Peak to return in full 8K 120hz glory, and PSVR2... Yum yum yum...

It’s great to see more circuits with Sophy, but I wish some of the events (even if only shorter races) would start to utilize them.

Don't worry, in due time, she will be everywhere and you will not be able to get away from her, she will be chasing your tail... Be careful for what you wish for...

Oh right : GTP members = masochists

I don't understand the expectations.

I reckon we are just over halfway through the wait, we will need to wait at least 2 to 3 more years for the next iteration....

Which is fine by me as long as we have updates, and hopefully better ones that this ...

Just wanted to manage your expectations...
To reduce the moaning...

If you guys are bored, go find something else to do, then come back here....

In its original sense, microtransactions were (usually small) purchases of a non-real currency with a real one - which is already present in GT7 and was also present in GT6. The modern sense is basically paying for anything virtual - so paid DLC would also be microtransactions.

However, if we're going for the "cosmetics" route, GT6 also had that. The reaction to the paid, one-use paint chips was so visceral that I don't think they'll ever go for that again either.

PD doesn't seem to really want to do anything to divide the community up between players who have tracks and players who don't. The way GT Sport did it, with allowing you to buy (most) cars for some money as an option instead of winning them or earning the credits to buy them, seems to have been about it - and I am a little surprised that it's not in GT7 too.
I think the difference in opinions on this, is a generational thing. I guess you could class me a gen1 game player, i look at games differently now than when i was 8.

I play GT7, for a couple of hours, every evening (there abouts) when the missus and daughter are sleeping. During my hours of 'Freedom' i just want to feel like the kid again, and look at this free update as a way to keep me engaged (i like to lead a simple life). I don't play any other games. Its just GT7. I want the best, updateable content and do not care if its costs a few quids. They say its a game from 7-77, i really dont think they (PD) understand what this 45 y/o needs. Fresh GT content that is engaging and beer. I got the latter.

I love playing this game, always have. I will be there for the future titles. But give me options, i dont want to go to ACE hahaha.

FYI, you're two-ish years younger than me, and in a not dissimilar situation (except I have to play these games because it's my job to write about them).

I haven't really stopped gaming since I picked up Horace Goes Skiing...

Im speaking more to the fact that there are people upset pedestrian cars are being added to the game. It's like most have forgotten the ethos of GT and are wanting it to be their end-all-be-all racing game. That's not even PD's fault. There's not a lot of racing games left.

Introducing paid updates is a very dangerous game. I understand the wish and the intention. But the chance that, once introduced, the system would be misused to extract lots of money from the fanbase is just too high. Even when starting with the best intentions, at some point down the road a new manager will inevitably come along asking "why are we not making more money from DLC?". And they will let you bleed. So be careful what you wish for. Once established, such systems rarely disappear again. Once paying for updates is the new norm, they will make sure you will be paying.
Paid tracks also have a risk of breaking the playerbase (especially with Sport Mode). Remember the GT5 days when people could not race at Motegi or SSRX in a lobby because they don't own the track DLC?

Why would that be guaranteed?

In fact I dont think it will happen, as I understand more people would be willing to leave instead of paying the extra cost.
Happens in other cases, of more or less similar or somehow related situations, and the company in many cases suffers the losses instead.
I hope it does. I obviously can't guarentee it, im just observing on this forum and other channels, then taking my own opinion and voicing it.

Losses...we are talking a very profitable company, making 1 game, with 300 staff. Kunos Simulazioni has 30 staff members and look at what we are starting to see from them. Regardless of paid/non paid content. Maybe PD are just getting a bit lazy.

haha fair play dude

Don't forget those special "romance cuddles" from your wife/companion
No way, we did that once and look what happend...'Daughter'

That's what I think too. There's plenty of us who are willing to pay a little for decent content. Just because it's free doesn't mean we have to be thankful for this ****. It's like giving candy to a diabetic...

Like, how is this crap being an answer to Assetto Corsa Evo???? At this point just give us the damn new game for $100 and call it a day.
Why would PD need an answer to a game that doesn't share a platform with GT7 and won't be fully released until the end of the year?

This sort of discussion pops up every time a big sim racer is about to launch - it happened with Forza, too. Most people who buy GT7 don't have an Xbox or a powerful PC - they just want "Racing game on PlayStation" and GT is currently their best option. Now if AC Evo was launching on PS5, sure, they might need to step their game up. But that's not what's happening.

If you ask for options AND think it would be the better game and you dont care paying, then what would be preventing you from choosing the other option?
I might choose the other option as a full release. I dont have time with drip feeding pre-releases either.

I love the ethos (which, in this case is the romance and love of vehicles and motorsport and the concept of GT) and all that, that GT brings to the table. However, you cannot solely rely on ethos, it can lack substance and fail to fully convince an audience if not backed up by strong logic and emotional appeal (pathos).

Thats were, i think, we (me and others) are at with this francise (GT7), it's laking any real long-term, ongoing appeal that fulfills the viceral excitement when playing this title. And there is still a few years for anything new!

Personally, this ethos cannot be the main (only) driver in future titles (oh and how great the graphics are...yeah, great.) and all this waiting for 'content drops' in anticipation only devides a communities opinion. There is a thing called 'loyalty', which sounds rediculous, as i write it, but i am a loyal, long term fan of the GT francise.

I will be getting ACE when it comes out, nothing is preventing me apart from the lack of current competition.

You say that until someone actually freely kicks you into he balls
I'll try anything once

I'll reserve comment on the update until the patch notes.

I will say - in a rare miss for the PD audiovisual team, I'm not a massive fan of the sound mixing on that trailer. Too much music, not enough engine note.
I agree, definitely feels sloppy this time around (New Editor maybe?). Drives me nuts when watch a video and the music is drowning the sound out the back.

How is this mentality going to help the company increase their revenue? How are they going to profit from this? All I'm saying is that there is so much potential being wasted in terms of revenue/profits but also they are not providing enhancing experiences to their customers (users). It doesn't seems like there is a solid business acumen leading Polyphony at the moment.
That is bizarre roundabout way of saying you don't like the cars in the update, especially after uttering this:

Like, how is this crap being an answer to Assetto Corsa Evo???? At this point just give us the damn new game for $100 and call it a day.
And who said it was? At what point has PD EVER indicated that it was going to "Respond" to ACE or any of its "competition"? PD have and continue to NOT care about what others are doing and judging by the fact this franchise still exists and seemingly has never sold alarmingly low amounts to be worried about, very clearly they don't need to.
STOP MENTIONING THIS TRACK IF YOU ARE NOT GONNA EVEN BOTHER ADDING IT TO THE GAME PD :(

Hey kid, chill with the Caps Lock (and in General). Nobody died and no one was hurt in the making of this Update (At least I hope not), Its not that deep.

Like holy hell, the overreactions to the content. Not to some super scummy pay model or overpriced DLC or even pay-to-win mechanics...but all because we got a crossover and some hatchbacks instead of more GT3 cars. God forbid a future where Gran Turismo gets taken the down the scummy route where you get charged more for the cars you want or have ACTUAL FOMO where you can say goodbye to ever having that fan favorite of yours from older games FOREVER because you "Didn't have time" and will never get it again.

In reality most of the cars are in the game because they can not because they should.

It's all PDs prerogative and their game not ours. I'm ok with the 7 gazillionth civic but so many iconic cars are missing in favour of some well less than iconic cars. There is a MK1 Golf GTi but no 205GTi and so many others that could be called iconic or class defining both now and of the time. Time will tell if the Toyota thing is coveted as such in a few decades from now but in the moment stuff like this feels just a little weak.

It is just a run of the mill shopping kart sold at car supermarkets on mass and probably only in the game through manufacturer relationships rather than being a culturally relevant symbol of our times.

Well, I guess that’s one car out the way they post about before the nest update. Three more to go.

PD hit us with the silhouette okie done. Best thing they did was not give us 4WD versions of the Toyota and Civic.
Anyway, I’ll have another GR.A car for the grid. :D

Digging those alternate colors for the F3500-A. Makes buying them all a bit more special than the F1500.

FYI The C-HR was the 4th top selling car in Japan the year it debuted.

While I understand people's frustration.
I often look at the car/track list for GT7 and am very much pleased.

With old returning tracks like Deep Forrest, Trial Mountain and Grand Valley, it's clear Kaz has a love for his classics. We have Mt Panorama, Circuit de la Sarthe, Spa, Laguna Seca, Monza, Brands Hatch, Willow Springs and still one of the most accurate Nurburgring layout.

With Cars Like the Bugatti Chiron, Chevrolet C8, Chaparral 2J, almost all generations of the Dodge Viper, Ferrari FXX K (crazier Laferrari), The beloved GT4 cover car Ford GT LM Spec II, Formula 1 style 80's and 90s models, Jaguar XJ220, 25th anniversary Countach, Diablo!, Lexus LFA!, Mazda 787b, Mclaren f1, Mp4/4!, Mercedes CLK-LM!, SLR Mclaren, Nissan Z 23, GTR 24, Pagani Huayra, Porsche 930 911 Turbo!, Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion '97, 917k, 918 Spyder, Radical SR3, Super Formula cars, Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, Toyota GR Yaris, GR Corolla, GT-One.

A lot of the ones I mentioned were from free DLC.
Yes many are from older titles but they are much loved from those games.
GT7 have the best car wrap/decal creator out there.
It has a 360 rotating camera in 3rd person now.
I've always naturally been a glass half full guy but yeah I truly think GT7 has an amazing list of cars and tracks new and old.

Naturally there are tracks and cars I want in the game, but this isn't my baby, it's Kaz's. He has proven time and time again that he makes Gran Turismo for him and we just finance it.

Also no, im not paid by Polyphony. lol I just see their effort when many might not.

FYI The C-HR was the 4th top selling car in Japan the year it debuted.
And the Corolla GL or whatever was the best selling car globally for years.

Neither of these cars are class defining or drivers cars or tuners favourites just cheap and reliable and functional.

This is part of my point, other than accessibility and reliability in the corollas case I'm not sure what their real relevance is in a game predominantly focused on car history and promoting racing.

Popular doesn't equal good and all things being equal I'd put money on them being priced favourably and the world buys with their wallets and needs not what is the best car or track weapon etc.

@matrix_gt1 we all see and appreciate the detail and craftsmanship it's the choices they make seem rather self satisfying rather than user focused.

I mean they spend a lot of times making the car museums and rattle on around heritage etc but objectively looking at it there are a lot more previous title cars and tracks they could have brought back.

Then you have the Uras, great car but the Cayenne saved Porsche and was in previous games where as the Uras is a Chelsea tractor that ferries Tarquin and Tabitha to school in Kensington every day.

They have all the ammo all the passion and skill yet sometimes the decisions feel less than ethos or user centred and a little more self serving.

Can’t wait to play tomorrow! :D The F3500a is definitely my focus, but the Toyota and Hyundai seem quite interesting (to me at least..), I never really cared much about any type of Civic 😅 But if it’s got cool (visual) upgrades I’d probably get it anyway 😊

There’s the usual Kaz simps on here defending every decision this game makes.
The fact is we could’ve asked every person on this forum what cars they’d have picked for an interesting update and none of them would pick a SUV soccer-not-quite-milf material motor like the Toyota or the Hyundai over something which might actually be useful.
In what way did we need any of these cars??? Even the Formula 1 car is another example of potentially interesting car with no in-game utility.
PD are the ones telling us that it takes so much time and effort to make these virtual vehicles so why are they spending that super precious time on vehicles no one has requested and no one will use…..until we get the special weekly event in a week where we have to use the Toyota SUV.
I am so desperate for the days when there was some competition for GT on the PlayStation. ACE on PS can’t come quick enough.

The Hyundai that car enthusiast sites have been cranking themselves translucent over?

That Hyundai?

I suppose you are calling me a Kaz simp. Maybe, ive been playing since GT1. I just feel we have actually got good free dlc's.

You know before GT1 there were racing games with the hottest sports cars and racing cars but then GT came along and smoked em. Why? Many like myself would argue its because it offered a realistic (for its time) look at what it would be like to take your everyday car to the track. It offered cars that were juuust outside the realm of possibility for most people. Rather than just the hyper expensive sports cars. People loved it.

Now when GT7 releases an update with these types of cars. People go into a frustrated rage. But its been Gran Turismo all along.
