What is wrong with this update. I think you guys are spoiled:-) I moved to GT7 from F1 2024 - this was a nightmare. The level of absurdity is insane and the quality of patches is so poor. Not surprised EA lost 6 billion overnight with the quality and direction of their games
So bad? Bought f1 24 yesterday for 11,99€ in the sale 😀

Even this is too expensive. But you did not go through the nightmare of seeing how each patch made the game worse. Disaster.
Hmm ok. Will try it out.
Not having the highest expectations, it was mainly the price, the nice ps5 pro enhancements in the game and a friends recommendation (crossplay because he’s on Xbox).
GT7 will still remain as my main racing game.

The C-HR is made worse still by the fact it never actually makes 175BHP, because that power is made at 6100RPM, but the CVT keeps it at 4500RPM. As a result, less powerful cars will actually quite handily outperform it in a straight line, too. The C-HR makes closer to 160BHP in reality.

Basically the C-HR is completely useless in every situation.

I would say that the problem is how the power is measured with hybrid veichles, that C-HR is powered by 1.8 ICE+electromotor. Petrol engine has a power of 95 hp, and electric motor power is 72 hp, but they both never give full power at the same time wich results in max.combined power of 122 hp (EU version). And at the high speed you stay without electric power as battery have small capacity, and you are left with 95 hp petrol engine.

Same situation was happening to 918 hybrid before they updated something, as you would stay without electric support on Le Mans after a lap or two, and you would be running only on ICE power as braking wouldn't be enough to recover electric energy.

A thought on the C-HR - I think it shows a change in PD's approach to starter cars and early game power curve.

In GT1-5, the (good) starter cars are around MX-5, Civic SiR kind of levels - recognisable and attainable, but a bit sportier than what's on your average driveway. True family vehicles do exist in these games, but the games are never really built for you to use them - sure, the Fiat Panda and Nissan Micra are in GT4-6, but at no point is the game's difficulty curve expecting you to drive these cars stock - they get destroyed even in Sunday Cup. The only other exception is kei cars, but they are kind of their own thing with their own dedicated event.

In GT6 and GT7 though, the starter events are explicitly set at Honda Jazz levels. It's your only choice in 6; 7 adds a few more. The power curve at Sunday Cup level is definitively now lowered to "car that might be on your driveway right now even if you aren't into cars at all". But (like GT3s, ironically enough) that part of the car roster is due for a refresh as they are all early-2010s currently.

And I think we'll find, for better or worse, the cars that come in to refresh that area will be heavily crossovers, because if PD want to continue with the game design of your first car in-game being something relatable in design and power to real life car ownership, a lot of that is crossovers nowadays.

TL;DR: I could absolutely see the C-HR being a starter car option in GT8.

You are probably right but this realism aim erodes some of the fun and magic dust the early games had like being introduced to the easily tuneable cars via the used car lot with lucky prices etc

I agree with the curated early game play assessment but it's really really linear and hand on heart how many people have gone back to drive that Aqua S or Jazz from the first 30 mins of play?

Having the linear progression actually regresses a little bit from the earlier games charm of a slight more choice orientated approach.

I have to preface this post by letting everyone know I love GT7 and am not one of these doomsayers in here only to critique the game, however...

I am a huge fan of the I5N, was greatly anticipating it, and was hoping it's presence would help bring some people around to the potential of EVs. But... NOPE! It seems like GT7 set out to not only anger those who looked forward to it, but also put their fingers in the eyes of those who didn't want it at all.

E-SHIFT. Why the everloving hell doesn't this model come with the MAIN THING THAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?! Literally the single thing about this car that brings people around to loving it more than any other powerful sporting EV. I can't think of any rational reason why this would be omitted, but it's just unfathomably stupid to keep the I5N a single-gear, standard EV. Now the EV haters still have no reason to drive it, and those like me are supremely disappointed in a car we wanted. Then they saw fit to not allow us to adjust the F-R torque split, either natively in the car, or by adding the center diff... what ridiculous oversight.

Then I find out that the bodywork for this thing will run us about a MILLION CREDITS. For wings. AFAIK there is no other car in game with such an egregious price tag for aero parts. What better way to piss off the people who didn't want the car; they won't get to see how special E-shift is, and now have very valid reasons to never waste the time modifying it. Not to mention the fact that all these wings are for a track and events GT still hasn't given us, and may never, making these decisions even more perplexing and just... dumb.

Yep. It sucks. I had probably 100 cars tuned for 600pp then the physics changed last year. They all increased by a few points. Dialed out a few pp on some of them but the physics were so bad that the cars drove nothing like they used to. Now they change the physics again and most of my cars have jumped another 5-10pp making a lot of my 600pp cars really difficult to bring back in to the 600pp range without eliminating parts or going to a lower grade tire compound.
This too. I tried the WTC 600 event at Interlagos and Road Atlanta several times in many cars (Huracan, LFA, I5N, F430 [all stock or detuned] a 560PP Tuned Civic and a few others) and not only are the cars nerfed like Tommy says (everything at 600PP now needs harder tires or a power reduction to enter) but the AI cars seem to not abide by the 600PP rule at all. In all my attempts I get into second place just fine, but can't run down the first place cars that are sometimes still 10+seconds ahead. The Huracan needs to be de-tuned to 460hp on SH just to make 600PP now, yet the lead Huracan at RA doesn't seem to be detuned at all. It literally just runs away from me on the back straight. It's bad enough that we have to chase the rabbit, but even more lame that the competition doesn't seem to have to abide by the limit at all, making a bunch more races feel like chasing down that stupid 800+hp Alfa. I can run 2-3 or more seconds faster than the AI and often times still not bridge the gap to first. This is not the way to make these races "fun".

All in all, there's a whole slew of bonkers decisions with this update that make the game more frustrating. Way to go PD.

It's the times we live in. Unfortunately due to economy and emissions standards, the most efficient cars have become miserable appliances. Just within this update it's clear - the old efficient car, the Civic, is universally seen as a really fun little thing. Probably 30-40 mpg, manual transmission, a really simple thing. The C-HR is the same type of car in a different era - safer but heavier, more efficient but more complex, higher quality but less engaging. The American version which wasn't a hybrid still was only offered with the CVT.

These modern economy cars are basically pointless to enthusiasts if we can't completely swap the drivetrain.
Well luckily in the US those standards are about to be rolled back. EVs are selling terribly save the Teslas. Teens appear to be back into muscle cars again so there is hope for the future.

I gave the Hyundai a try and oh boy.... what a handful. Slides way too easily on the default SH tires it comes with, and the brakes are just awful. Installing the racing brakes upgrades help a tiny bit, but even with those upgrades the braking is still inferior to what I was overall expecting.

Something else: it’s really strange and a bit annoying in which nationality some cars are packed in. I couldn’t do the Sunday Cup 600 on Eiger Nordwand for European cars with the Escort Cosworth because it gets counted as a US-car. It’s even more ridiculous because I read the description of the car before attending the race, in which they explicitly point out that it’s a British car. This also goes for the Sierra, Minis etc.. PD should make the qualifications for races more individual, even when it has to be represented as a US-car or whatever because the Manufacturer wants it that way for example, they could still unlock these cars for these certain races imo

You are absolutely right, but genuinely it doesn't matter.

You have to kinda go with the PD universe and tools. Whilst you read the manuals and fair play I live 60 miles where they make them! I had one! But it's game and just a game
